We all know his true value and if and when he leaves i sincerely hope we dig our heels in for a realistic fee which in my opinion should  be at least £200,000 + , especially if there's a built in sell on percentage for Fleetwood.  Mind you it is bound to be the usual 'undisclosed' episode with  us so probably never know anyway . Still 🙏 the lad will see out the seas
on of course.

Both first game and progy v Oldham friendly in early 1968 . Lost 1-0 to a Laurie Sheffield goal . Remember some fisticuffs after .
Took my then 3 year old lad to the above mentioned Scarboro game in 81and he dropped his full M and P pie  exactly as mentioned above 😂.  Not his first game btw that was v South Liverpool when 9 months old !  These threads are great man , keep em rollin 👏
Scarboro game in 79 of course 🙄

I too was on the top balcony of Evertons newish stand in 75. First time ever using an escalator at a footie match 😀

Thanks for that but I attended three of the four games. The fourth one at OT, I was forced to swerve due to the birth of my eldest!

I too saw three of the four games also missing the return at Old Trafford.  Different reason though... My Dad wouldn't let me go... School the next day....
Your'e still a relative young un then Ukranian 👍😊

I'll take a chance at football league over everything at this point.

Happy to have 10 less games in the boys legs for the minuscule chance of drawing a premier league team we get patted on the head by.
Exactly this ,  Mind you cup runs do bring in the big  bucks of course , we missed out of another chance with the  last minute goal by Pompey with the winners facing our old foes Spurs.  And the glory of course , remember Hereford getting into the FL in 1972 without EVER winning the Southern League title !!!

Portsmouth were away to Fleetwood in the round after they beat us.
Yeah, your'e spot on mate . I meant Colchester in 2016 , but they faced Spurs in R4 anyway . Need to research before trusting my fading memory 😀

Brilliant recollections fellas and thanks so much ,  i could read these all day , great memories all of them and some newbies to boot !  Us vets ( we're known as 'masters' in my running fraternity ) could do with a stand alone thread to recall our tales 'back in the day' .🙂

Good player John , liked him a lot , very good at holdup play and shielding the ball from defenders and a good finisher too.  Great to hear he's doing well and managing his injuries keeping active playing walking footie and roulette.👍😉

And that was our last 3rd round tie at ML. Curiously they were called just Orient back then , anyway the gate was 7,833 and i was in the Golf Road and we were packed in like sardines one end t'other.  The winners were drawn to face West Ham at home who went on to beat Arsenal in the final.

Good old Timmo ! Going further back a County fan friend of mine told me the standard in National North was better than the old Div 4 in the late sixties.

Yeah top post . Super team performance and the match a great advert for the NL . IMO Chris was head and shoulders above everyone else with a display of class rarely seen at this level. Brilliant .
I too was a regular at OT during the Best , Law and Charlton era until discovering the real Mecca of footie 🤩

It struck me on Saturday. Gone are the days of John Rogers or Kenny McKenna who were lethal in the air.
Defenders score the odd goal from corners or free kicks but our strikers very rarely seem to. It isn't a massive problem when we have such talented forwards with the ball at their feet but it would be good to have another weapon in our arsenal.
The club seem to have noticed this as well, our corners against Barnet were low ones that bounced before reaching the penalty area, one of which we converted of course.
Not a major concern, but worth noting I would say.
Those two and Jeff Johnson were all great in the air, unlike Swindells and Worth from a different era ! The brilliant goal by JR at Wycombe in the 1982 Trophy semi springs to mind .
I think Kyle Perry was our most up to date forward to have success 'up above'.
Barnet, with their tall strike force, obviously have success with their Luftwaffe tactics, they are very good at it.  Give me our style of play any day of the week.
