It says it all when a couple of dozen on the open end outshout almost 2,200 home fans throughout the second half .Can't find a single positive from today and even some other results going our way barely seems to matter after that performance . It's obvious only our very best starting eleven can rescue our play off push and just as obvious our squad isn't strong enough in depth . New blood needed to reinvigorate us.

Current average is 2,201, with further increase and Oldham still to come we may be closing in on 2.5 very soon .

Matty has done really well but if Ethan is 100% fit and ready to go he must come back in , he is our numero uno .
Numero ventinove, no?
  👏😂

Thanks MG that’s really helpful. The Bangor game certainly wasn’t a 5-4 I’d have remembered that! I think I might be muddling games up, part of getting old, although I’m sure we played against Gainsborough on a Sunday some years earlier possibly in the league cup.
That’s definitely the Great Harwood game though, cheers.

I remember that Gainsborough Lge Cup game, 2nd leg semi final following a 0-1 at Northolme. Brian Taylor equalised in the second half, only for Trinity to equalise in the last minute to send us out. 1972 I think?
Never forget that one , the club hired a minibus with around 10 of us on board . The driver got lost and we got there at half time, on the way back we got a puncture in the middle of nowhere with no spare so had to wait for a breakdown truck , eventually got back at around 3am . The hapless driver was called Mike who also owned the business . Not the best away day 🙄

He scored a hat trick for Northwich against us in the Cheshire Senior Cup Semi Final Second Replay at Canal Street the following season.
Bloody hell , don't remember that 😔

The Great Harwood game was in the run up to the Trophy semi final second leg against Runcorn.  We had drawn 0-0 with the Linnets on the Saturday, and this game was played on the Monday.  Notable for the debuts of Graham Tobin and Larry Garrity.  I remember turning up at The Old Showground and saying "who the hell are they?"  Graham Heathcote scored both goals in a routine 2-0 win.  Garrity made it into the starting 11 at Runcorn the following Saturday for the second leg where a mal Bailey goal took us to Wembley for the first time
'Toby' joined us from a Wythenshawe Sunday league team    he was a friend of a friend , good player but never a regular at ML because of Mal Bailey and John Owens . A legend at Macc after leaving us btw !
Larry Garrity came from Burscough and despite looking promising in the few games he had for us including the Runcorn 2nd Leg he did'nt make the final team or subs and then....who knows ?

Deservedly great vibes after yet another confident win , have to say that Matt has deputised for Ethan superbly so much so that we have not even missed him !  Massive bonus when most of us must have had at least a few doubts . After what happened in 1980 and 91 can't dare to get too far ahead but this team has more strength in depth than previously so fingers and everything else tightly crossed .

Wonderful stuff Ukrainian and blasts from the past that bring back so many great memories . Other than the draw with Spurs the only other 'special' train i can remember was to Buxton for the postponed Trophy game in 1973 when the snow must have been at least a foot deep !
What was apparent back in the day was that the top tier sides would play their strongest teams against non league opposition in the FA Cup and which was the case in all our 7 games against First Division clubs , something that would never happen nowadays .
No need at all to apologise for a couple of little timeline errors mate , most of us often do likewise , me for instance ! and with your health not like you would want it to be it's totally understandable .  What's far more important is your obvious love and devotion to this great club of ours . Look after yourself and we look forward to when you feel well enough to post some more brilliant nostalgia . 👍👏

Agree with the above . Talking of Sunny though Phil described him as a fantastic person and player , he is from a Blackley family and my lad played with Hasney , Sonny's dad for St Clares juniors . Hasney went on to a very decent league career after his release from United and these days is Youth coach at OT . Very nice family.
