I reckon a Jordon Holme type striker who can hold up the ball would be ideal for Alty who could be good for the likes of Hancock and Colclough .
I've made comments to the contrary in the past, but to play devil's advocate towards those commenting on "the way he left" none of us still really know the details.
None of us wanted him to go, how much was his choice and how much came from the club? We can all agree that whatever fee we got must have been substantial enough to warrant our board making such a decision.
I am not sure if I would have him back either, but if anyone can get the best out of him it is PP and NS.
I'd made my peace with him leaving, but he spends the first days mocking our new strike-force of Tom Peers.
He'd spent the first few months at altrincham taking about playing at NL level.
I'd have had no issue with him going to Wrexham, Notts County or even Fylde if they'd remained at this level with us.
Is that actually true? As I recall, he tweeted in his farewell message to Alty fans something along the lines of "I leave you in the capable hands of Tom Peers". Your interpretation of that is him taking the mickey out of TP (on the assumption that Hulme must share your low opinion of Peers). I think it's more likely he was giving him his genuine (if misjudged) backing to take his place. Did he say anything more beyond that?
I would have loved it if he hadn't left but since he has done, I think I'm leaning towards hashtags opinion.
If we needed someone for Durrells position, I'd welcome him back but we don't.
58 points in 2009-10 if you count the Chester games, equivalent to about 53 this season. Still, as far as I'm concerned, we've done very well, and I would have been happy just to stay up. And we can reasonably hope to improve next season!I think it's clear to everyone that we're not going to be able to get a millennium-high end of season position unless we're very very lucky indeed.
But the main thing is that we've improved year on year and we'd have been more than happy with our present position. With a few exceptions we've been very competitive.
We all (including the management team) know where we need to improve but we've got to stay working within our means and trust PP and co to come through. I'm convinced they will
I believe everyone on here has the best interests of Alty at heart and I'm heartened that virtually all 'criticism' is well meant and constructive. I'd hate PP to read the forum and think we weren't behind him. We all are, and we need to recognise how great we're doing against some big outfits.
At the very least we'll finish highest of the four promoted teams and that's good in itself. To finish in the top half, which could still happen, was beyond my wildest dreams at the start of the season.
Come on you Supers!!!!
I think you're being a bit pessimistic there. If we can reach 52 points from our 42 games that would be our best return on ppg at this level since 1996. That's 11 points from the remaining nine games, seven of which are at home - still perfectly doable.
Yes very bizarre all these new stewardsmore about now than when we played Chester at home 👀😂😭Actually, it was us who were due to play Macclesfield on 22nd May, while Yeovil were down to play Dover, but the same principle applies.just buy a high vis jacket and become a steward and watch every game
As I have discussed offline, although it might seem unfair to some that we get two home games with fans allowed at the end of the season, other clubs have already have fans present mid-season, so I see no reason why we can't, as it is after the government's step when fans are allowed at elite matches.
No chance this season.
Dates likely extended as suggested.
So called lockdowns were supposed to be a last resort to prevent hospitalisation and premature deaths, but they have now become the norm. Government does not want to screw this up and has become risk averse as a result. Disproportionate measures to risk will still be in place post vaccination of all the other 50s by end of March. So fully expect to see things slip further. So no footy this season with crowds
Sorry - having a Hugh moment
Hugh - This is a football forum for Altrincham FC. Not a political discussion arena - see the daily mail for that.
It is common sense to do a risk assessment of returning, and you will be fully aware that many businesses have felt enforcing everyone has been vaccinated will reduce any potential claims or issues resulting from employees becoming ill.
Many businesses are worried that if they do not enforce everyone having vaccinations before returning to an office, that they may be liable if an employee returns, has covid, infects a person or, persons. In the worse case scenario of an employee dying because they contracted covid from a colleague whilst at work, the company could very well be liable under health and safety at work.
Near enough. Can't have been more than a few yards between them and the Safe hut/snack bar/broom cupboard. My favourite old school bogs were at Workington, about 20 years ago for a match against Bradford. Overgrown, and I'm pretty sure unchanged from the FL days. Bootham Crescent wasn't bad too. Incidentally, why did they never replace the toilets by the popular side? Used to be a snack bar there too. What, inside the toilets?
What's the stats on Tom Peers?
League: 1386 mins 3 goals
Cup: 251 mins 3 goals
