I remember it so well, memorable game, team and season especially Paul Showler until it fell apart at the end. Crowd was 4100.
never knew at the time, as a narrow defeat at Barrow that ended our 28 game run seemed predictable,.. but the reason we didn't go up was a n other.

4501. But they had to pretend it was something else. Ecky said he knew every word of the commentary... The flash lad (Rowlo?) with his mobile phone... I  stood in the corner between grass Bank and GR end, Tom Majinski (fellow Ambrosian and later star of HBU) controlled a wayward ball on his thigh - killed it dead, I think I can just about pick out the moment on the video - he was a class above me really... Never saw it again until Rowley made a dvd specially. I think Barnet spent 80,000 pounds on new players near the end of the season, including carter from runcorn - how much is that in today's money... Don't forget we played a strong team in the csc and started in the 1st qualifying round of the fa cup in those days - 100% we were knackered - probably the same this season! We had to pretend the last gate of the season (Boston?) was more than it really was so the figures added up. Those really were the days. Oh yes they were - they really were! My first season as well. No wonder I stuck it.

Hancock has 11 so far (with a few pens admittedly) but if we'd had a decent number nine, a fair proportion of all those chances missed by our rotating trial strikers might have been converted and we'd be in a much better place. Fine margins as PP said.
Another consideration is that Hulme is still unproven at National level. (braces for response!)

Very well - so was Hancock (I think).

I think only Michael Cheek has exceeded 15 league goals at our level this season. Granted, one of two others are likely to join him, but I'd say 15 goals wouldn't be a bad return in all fairness.

A strange season. Even last year with 10 games to go 8 clubs had someone with over 15 goals, 3 more had 14 or 15.

Having someone hit 15 goals is midtable form, unless you're scoring goals fom 2 strikers or round the gam

In the shortened 2019-20 season, there were 16 clubs who didn't have a striker that scored 15 goals. 16 in 2018-19. And 17 clubs in 2017-18. Of corse I'd like to finish top 7, but as I say, it is very difficult now Maunders has left. Best we've managed since is 12th out of 22, and 13th in the current format (unless you cont Salisbury...). Still, here's hoping.

I would have loved it if he hadn't left but since he has done, I think I'm leaning towards hashtags opinion.
If we needed someone for Durrells position, I'd welcome him back but we don't.

Deary me. As I hinted at, Adam Rooney went to Salford City, scored 21 goals - how mch did they pat for him? (And he was in the first team for Aberdeen at the time). How much was paid for Marriot? As I said, it would be a tremendous achievement for the club to get a 15 goal a season striker. If he comes here and plays to his ability, and if we can afford it, it's a no-brainer.

15 goals a season is hardly impressive at this level.

Every season I've watched us since 2009 we've had a 15 goal striker at this level?

Parkinson showing that he cant go out and get a big game player - unless a bit broken - is a worry.

Not sure that's right? Of the top 12 NL scorers (17-18, total goals), 8 scored more than 15 goals plus Morgan Ferrier got 15. 2018-19, 9 players scored 15 or more NL goals.  No easy task for a club like us to get a 15  goal a season striker at this level. Hopefully it will become slightly easier as we move towards full time. (PS how are Tom and Allan?).

Unfortunately I had uninterrupted coverage.

I missed the first goal. Wish I'd missed the third...

Well i usually wait til next day before commenting if we lose but today i cannot hold back... i must think before i write the following as want to go off on a Rafa style rant that could get me banned from the forum but i'll try to watch my language...

Firstly, luckily it appears, i did not see the game after the stream never worked... as a season tic holder and applying for game well in advance as usual i'm at a loss as to why the stream would not work for me... got following message everytime tried to load...

WE'RE SORRY, BUT SOMETHING WENT WRONG.

We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly.

Now it appears this maybe a blessing after seeing some reviews, seeing scoreline, and listening to Radio Robins between trying stream...

Before i start, i must state that in Parky i still trust plus believe he knows what players we need in the summer (especially a decent no.9) to take us forward, plus he has been hampered by unprecidented injury levels...

HOWEVER, as i've stated before, i'm at a loss as to why Piggott still gets starts and we aint giving Bell a go... if we aint going to start him (especially after Piggott not found the net) why bother signing him on loan? Also, we miss Smith who is the heartbeat of the team, BUT as is clear to many fans Willo & Moult do not work as a combo back up... why not try Ringo with Moult if keeping same formation (or actually try a different formation)...

I personally wouldn't mind as much if trying new things like new formations or new players (as no relegation) but we're sticking with same formation & same players every week that aint working and still losing...

At start of season i would have just been happy with staying up... BUT after seeing our potential at various points of the season we should easily be mid table or even pushing towards playoffs (next season defo challenge for playoffs)...

Now the season seems to be dying off into a damp squib of defeat after defeat... sooner it ends the better, now...

Roll on next season... Parky has a BIG summer ahead to get in the right personnel to challenge for the playoffs next season and ultimately show that he is still the man for the job! COYR!

First off, I may as well share the results of my research.

Last season, it was 203 days for 36 league matches - still a big ask for a part time team playing against mainly full time sides. This season, we have played 36 league matches in 196 days. Especially with our injuries and hsving little to play for, thee was always a chance we would fade.

As for Sean Williams, he was out for ages. By my calculations, he has played 458 minutes of football since hs return. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it takes a new player something like ten games to bed into a team. We have new players since he was lasst playing, and having also been out so long I can only assume it is something similar. Of course it may or may not work out, but management will only find out by playing him.

As for the stream, I had problems too. Only 300 home fans as well, and they won't be buying a pie and pint, and probably not a programme the way things are. 300 in the GMVC is nothing. We must get fans back in the ground, however scared a few people may feel, otherwise we can forget about non-league football as we know it.

The only positives were; Ogle did well, Smith back in the squad.
When I saw the team, my heart sank. The midfield too pedestrian and the 'attack' absolutely non-existent. Sutton obviously saw that too, for they were at us from the off. It was too much for our defence, which simply buckled under the strain.

They were a very very good side, but we made them look like Brazil. Some of our players looked exactly what they are - a combination of Evostik/Conference North. I really hope that Williams and Piggott in particular, are not on 2-year contracts - that would be disastrous, as they are good, hardworking lads but several levels below the level we are playing at.

Finally, I've never had a go at the management, but to take more than an hour to make a change when you know your team are getting battered, is either just crap judgement, or plain stubborn.

I say, old chap. I'm sorry, but I don't agree. Could easily be that it's about next season. Maybe he was poor yesterday, but if Piggot was not capable of better, would Wigan have persisted with him for so long? Would PP have brought him here? Of course there could be changes and rethinks in the summer - and maybe even that is part of it - giving players a chance to play for their place next season. For now, I am reserving judgment.

Really looking forward to today's match... hoping Smith somehow recovers ahead of schedule as we miss him as the heartbeat of our team... as i mentioned above, if he is unfit i'd prefer Richman to start alongside Moult, as don't think Willo & Smith combo has really worked... also would like to see Bell given a start upfront instead of Piggott...

Lets hope we can get something out of the game... COYR!

Williams was out for a long time, and Piggot wasn't playing much before he came her. With the season gone, I am quite happy to play players with an eye to next season - it could all seem worth it if we start well. I was never expecting much more than survival this season, and wd've got that comfortably.

Apologies in advance for no mention of Covid or religion.

Going to be a tough a game as you can get. Desperately need Smith to play and hopefully  Kosylo.

           Thompson

Senior    Sutton    Hannigan    Hampson

              Smith   Moult

    Kosylo    Hardy    Colclough

                  Hancock

Resisted playing Hancock as a 9 but nobody else has come near to required standard.

Alty 1-1 Sutton  (Hancock)

What is a number 9 anyway? Left wing, right wing, centre forward, attacking midfielder, even inside left I understand, but other terms I get a bit lost with.

And I'm sure people didn't used to keep on about "recycling" the ball so much. I'll warrant it's not mentioned once in that Liverpool match in 1980...

And on the subject of Sutton, where's he got to? Not mentioned on thee injury update, not playing today.

Surely you've heard of the global economy? Billions of pounds out of the American or UK economy kill people in the third world just as surely as they kill people in britain and america. See my comments on Kenya. Among other things. In any case, Florida, which hasn't had severe restrictions, has not got more cv deaths than California, which locked down hard. Despite Florida having a  much larger eldery population. A worst case scenario might be 100,000 extra deaths with cv in the usa if they hadn't locked down (worst case mind you), and as there are expected to be 75,000 extra deaths from lockdowns in the UK (and that was last July), there would be far more people dying in the usa alone with lockdowns similar to the UK, plus the knock on effect to third world countries dependent on trade with western countries. For them, if the trade dries up, it's a matter of life and death. The UK has thrown hundreds of billions of pounds at  trying to control this bug, the usa probably far more. How much of that do you suppose they will get back?

Which makes me wonder how he felt about being put in the position of having to chose between the position his faith takes and that publicly espoused by his employer.
Without wishing to be provocative, did you ever wonder how Christian players felt about playing on Good Friday? Wasn't there a Scottish (I think) player who had it in his contract that he wouldn't be called upon to play on a Sunday?

Wasn't that Roger Bannister? A good film about him. And I seem to remember Crisp was in the same team as "Burgher"! (I won't get into Cannock and Shugborugh :) )

That's the trouble when you start bringing politics into it. There's no positive discrimination, just discrimination, some say. Still, there is this to be said. I remember reading an article some years ago about how young "Asian" players were not being given a chance by professional football clubs because apparently the hierarchy at such organisations had an attitude that "Asians" did not make good footballers, and feeling shocked that such attitudes persisted in football in the 21st century. It featured a player who was setting all sorts of records in an amateur league but was not getting a look in when he went for trials. My bottom line is that everyone from whatever background should be given a fair chance, so anything that can help to give such players the chance they deserve, as long as it is respectful to everyone, must be a good thing.

In the spirit of increasing understanding, I  should add that I will never go to a match at 3pm on Good Friday, this being the holiest hour in the Christian year (and I'm sure our vibrant community of Kerala Catholics would agree), which obviously makes it less worth while for me to get a season ticket whilst leagues and clubs persist in this practice. (I'm obviously speaking as a Christian, for those who don't know...)

Why have you put quotation marks around the word Asian? Do you not believe in Asia?

Asia is quite a big place. When people say Asia in this country, they often mean mainly or entirely the Indian subcontinent - particularly, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. My reading of it anyway.
