When are Wythenshawe Town playing Macc? Should be an interesting one.
Can't recall the date, but it clashes with one of our home games.

October 9th at Ericstan Park, which, yes, is when we are at home to Maidenhead.

Talking of deadly rivals, it was Hinckley LR  (formerly Leicester Road) who beat St Martins 18-0 on Saturday.  They play Hinckley AFC in the next round. Both clubs are spin-offs from Hinckley United, with LR keeping the ground and directors, but AFC keeping most of the supporters despite groundsharing outside the town. Supposedly, relations between the two clubs are not good at all, although as an outsider, you would think that the two clubs should surely merge.

It's like the Vics all over again.  Very messy.
On the subject of Northwich-based teams, I see Witton got rinsed 9-0 at Matlock last night !

Cor blimey! And we think we have it bad...

And to think that Witton had a pretty handy Conference team at one time! I remember Jo (God rest him) once talking about some of the talent they used to have.

Finding someone who can finish all the chances we create is our main problem

How many times must this be said?
I can't believe the management can't see the problem when all the fans can.
I can only think there must be a lot going on behind the scenes, up to now, unproductively.

Maybe been said before, but Chesterfield can afford to sign proven goal scorers like Asante. We can't. We just have to take a chance on players, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I'm sure it's not from want of trying. Stockport have less points per game than us and they get 3 times the crowds we do. I've said it for years, but people need to be realistic about what we can do at this level. Average crowds are higher than our crowds when we won the APL in 1979-80 (1,945, way more than Rochdale were getting towards the end of that season), and we've never come close to that level of support since. Maybe people who started watching in the 60's/70's/80's like V of D (God rest him), or in recent years have different expectations, but I personally first started getting heavily involved with the club after the debacle of 1994-95, and I am just glad we have a solvent club at NL level

P.S. for what it's worth, from what I've seen, I have no argument with the sending off, and I hope he will learn from this.

I assume keepers will get away with it sometimes. In the Kettering shootout, their keeper had come off his line for another penalty before the one which was retaken. If keeepers never get away with it I imagine it would stop. Same with the blatant time wasting nonsense (I remember that Blyth keeper who went to York (Peter) the season we both made the playoffs, they were playing for a draw, and I threw the ball to him from the back of the Chequers End. He let it sail past inches from his hand when it was obvious to anyone he could have caugt it easily. Obviously the referee did nothing).

I can never understand how teams can be bad enough to lose by scores like 18-0.

Thompson has virtually reached the penalty spot by the time the Wealdstone player takes that penalty kick!

Both decisions look more reasonable on the replay than I thought live. Tony’s penalty technique has always been to run at the taker. Watch the bishop Auckland shoot out. He needs to change it really as sooner or later he’s going to get called out by a ref because it’s not even marginal!

I remember a Kettering Town keeper did the same in a penalty shoot out at Moss Lane some years back and saved it. I shouted "he's off his line"! Fortunately the referee agreed and the retaken penalty was scored as Alty went on to win the shootout.

Really though, unless keepers are booked for being off their line, what has he got to lose by trying his luck?

I think 2-3 is more likely (assuming we win), they have scored seven goals in three games and we still have too many defenders out. Hancock is bound to start scoring sooner  or later, and for me it's difficult to leave him out.

As chants from the terrace go this could be the best ever. Can’t help but think more players need their own though. Don’t know if they will catch on but I’ve had a go.

I like you chants, as far as best ever is concerned, I'd have to go with the Jordan Hulme from recent times and Yuseff Ceesay was good too.  From older times singing Barry Barry Barry Crowe for an entire second half sticks in my mind, this was recreated for a short period of time at a later year

I remember what chant you liked, Toffee! :)

We had a few right rum chants (and mantras) in those days...

Wherever morals come from, I would tentatively suggest that that farce today wasn't morally right. I've never seen anything like it. Never again!

That was absolutely ridiculous. It made Rushden and Diamonds fc look good. Enough said.

Wonder if either of the two trialists from the weekend will be offered a deal this week? Especially Furman.
Or is that the final squad?
Wouldn't be surprised to see one or two going out on loan as we seem to have a large squad with some likely to be finding it hard to get game time -  especially at the back.

I must be psychic! 😉
Better get the lottery on tonight!

PS. If I get the jackpot, we'll be buying our way to the Football League! 😂😂👍

A la Newport County! (I presume it's Kevin Ellison's last season... before his long awaite return to Alty!).

We played golf at Dunham park yesterday and the pro there was telling me that Dean Furman had joined the golf club and was also a new signing at Alty..

Welcome Dean… Fancy a round of golf give me a shout …

The only English golf club that borders Iran!

Watching the Furman interview he sounds astoundingly articulate and intelligent (and future management material), as does Bunney. Another 2 Parkie type players.

Really impressed by the way our signings are going - more optimistic by the day!

Do Iran still own that "embassy" then? I'd assumed it had been sold off.

I would suggest that it is our bounden duty to arrive as early as possible, and come with sufficient cash to pay every admission charge ENTIRELY in pound coins (or even a few smaller denominations). We have a few days to build up the required coin stock....

Go to the bank (remember them?) and ask for a load of coppers!

£40 for admission and coach that's one expensive trip

On the plus side it's cash only (a bit more than the £8 we paid in the 90's) - made my day! :)

Reminds me of that quip someone made about the old club (Halifax "2.5p in the pound" Town f.c.) when they were being wound up - "Brilliant Butties of Hebden Bridge"! We won it 3 times...
