There is certainly no hatred....he trys his best in my opinion and that 'best' proves not to be good enough at our level during 4 matches out of five.
It is not his fault he is selected. The club has failed miserably again to recruit a Conference  National level number 9. He and Hulme are our best sub-standard options at the moment.

An entirely accurate synopsis, in my view, particularly that highlighted sentence.

The litany of misfiring signings in that department has been immensely dispiriting.

We've undoubtedly had worse 'strikers' than Dinanga but I seriously hope that we will be able to upgrade on him during the summer or else we could all be having the same discussion again this time next year.

According to the sometimes reliable BBC, Dinanga has scored five goals this season, clocking in at 247 minutes per goal. Of the players we have available, only CCC is close.

To put that into some sort of perspective, according to the NLP a couple of weeks back, Altrincham's top scorers for the season at the time were Colclough and CCC, both on seven. For the whole of the season so far, Bennett and Newby easily have the best minutes per goal ratio. Meanwhile, Chesterfield's leading scorer at the time (and I was surprised to read this) was also on seven goals. There's a lot of well-funded clubs looking for a good NL number nine...

He could well be the worst Alty player I've ever seen and I've seen some bad ones in my time.

This is clearly absolute nonsense.
I'd be interested if you could tell me the players I've seen here that have been worse.

I don't know how far back you go or if you are just including strikers, but was Micky Hayde really better? I'll hazard a guess he didn't score six goals anyway.

I agree re. Dinanga but the fact is (and it is a fact) he has scored more goals than Jordan.

If only he scored more often than once in every 5 or 6 genuine opportunities he's presented with. He's a total waste of space at this level.

I don't know, I think the jury's still out on that. He's not John Brady maybe (or even Dickie "90 minutes" Landon"), but I did think he was getting into his stride a bit earlier this season before the loan signings restricted his game time. Alan Shearer often berates strikers for not taking a gamble to get on the end of crosses, and I agree it's a skill getting in those positions.

I might add that they got average league attendances of lower than 2,119 (our NL average last season) in 15 out of 17 seasons from 1973 to 1990, including one in the third division (when they got a gate of just 450). I suspect that if they ever had got voted out, they would at best have ended up like Southport.

I always assume they will survive one way or the other. Still, they're almost bound to go down sooner or later, and that result at Victoria Park did look grim. For myself I will always be glad of any extra local games, even Fylde.

You did post a link, to be fair: "Tickets sales at the gate open from 12.30pm".

To clarify, I am not on Twitter or Facebook. For the Yeovil game, as one example, I only decided on Friday night after a stressful week that I might travel down (though in hindsight perhaps I shouldn't have bothered). If I had had to book in advance, or muck about on a website, perhaps I wouldn't have gone. All I am saying is that this is the situation for some people and it's their choice.

I hope there will also be a coach or two going, and additional information such as rail travel would be welcome. This is our biggest Trophy match since the heady days of 2005 and I hope there is a good turnout.

Ok then, what are the details re. travel, tickets, paying on the day etc. ?

It seems to me a shame if genuine home and away supporters get slated for raising such questions on here (and if clubs we play away make it needlessly difficult or unpleasant to attend as has occasionally happened). I assume it won't be a sellout anyway if they have a two and a half thousand capacity.

Pitch inspection at 1pm. Currently 2c but was -5c overnight... Must be a doubt, even with the covers they put on

A bit late  now. Did they really not know until one o'clock? It's not like there was a deluge or anything like with our game.

Still glad I went though! And we'd have been up to sixth with a win.

Apparently all the players were happy to turn out on that pitch, but the referee wasn't having any of it. Yeovil's chairman is absolutely seething, and intends to submit a formal complaint to PGMOL who control the appointment of officials.

I could only see so much looking through the gate, but that's probably the best "unplayable" pitch I've seen - even better than at Torquay that time!

Chris senior

How funny would it be if Ian Senior had still been playing in the Maidenhead United game! He could have taught that Junior a few things...

It's been quite a while since I've attended a match at the J Davidson Stadium which has started amidst snow flurries.

An entertaining game in light of the conditions. We had some excellent opportunities to have won far more convincingly and it did get rather unnecessarily jittery during those final 15 minutes or so.

Two sublime free kicks from CCC which Graham Heathcote in his late 1970s/early 1980s pomp would have been proud of.

Dinanga was once again deadly from five millimetres out.

Alas, Jordan Hulme still looks well out of sorts. Their second goal was initiated by him giving the ball away cheaply when undertaking some strange needless attempt at a 'scooped' pass.

Incidentally, I've just watched the Alty TV highlights and Matty Kosylo is a splendid and honest summariser.

I was delighted with the conditions at kickoff, it gave me a chance to do my best/john King impression out on the Chequers End (think Kingy stood on the roof of the dugout in torrential rain)! I tried this in a match against Kidderminster once, all prepared with my big coat, flask etc. - at the front oof the pop side - and then a hail storm stopped the match and sent me scurrying for cover! I would challenge anyone to have remained out in that!

There was a suggestion on the video that the first CCC goal took a deflection but I couldn't see any evidence for this, either at the match on the Chequers End or watching the video back. The main question seems to be, would we have done any better bringing Goodson on iinstead of Osborne - but to be fair, probably not many managers would bring on a forward when defending a 3-2 lead.

Our first Polish player since Konrad Kapler in the 1950s?
He was born in Salford  😂😂😂

Didn't Runcorn or someone have a "Spanish" player a few years back who was actually from Tameside ("what about me siesta?")?

Did I imagine it or did he concede two freekicks and try to concede a third?

But what I'm getting at is the coaching staff must be seeing something in him that others are not. If anyone knows what it is...

The official site says he played every minute of 23 league games in all but two appearances in 2021-22, so they must see something in him.

Blimey, where did you find a school like that?

Schools aside, surely a match can still be played in a light covering of snow. I seem to remember one of our greatest ever results was in the snow, where a huge effort was made to get the game on and a man called Pritchard was the hero!
Trying hard to remember the game you mention but can't . please remind me .  That midfield trio of Heathcote, Dickinson and Pritchard was very good though .

Away to the now defunct Macclesfield Town in 1996 when they were going for the title. Dean Pritchard  scored a hattrick in a 2-3 win at Moss Rose, helping to scupper their efforts. I think we had a few players out, hence the herculean efforts to get it on. One of our greatest result may be stretching it slightly, but goodness it felt like it at the time!

Nearly set up a goal at the end (the chance he set up was spurned).

Sorry, just trying to understand the reasoning.
