CONNOR INJURY UPDATE

For anyone who does not have twitter or follow my twitter feed 'Inter Alty FC' here is an update from Connor Kirby's mum...

I have passed on all Alty & Wealdstone fans best wishes to Connor's mum & she thanks us all...

She confirmed he has fractured tib+fib compound (open) fracture (as Brian Flynn had heard yesterday) & will be having surgery this afternoon...

We continue to wish him well & hope he makes a full recovery... our thoughts are with Connor, his mum & family.

Cheers, Phil (Inter Alty)

So, after the Dover comeback win... partly due to the introduction of subs i wonder if some of these subs may force their way into the starting XI (eg Pringle, Leitch-Smith) plus Dean Furman with all his experience will also be pushing to start though more likely will have to be content with a spot on the bench again...

Also the other issue is the problem area of LB caused by injuries to Hampson, White, Dens, Fitzpatrick plus Bunney being dropped to the bench at Dover (unless had slight knock)... if none of these are fit assume Senior will again move from RB to LB & Jackson start at RB (even though more of a winger)...

Then there is the no.10 & striker positions... Mooney (in Lge Team of the Week twice now) & Colclough will surely start on wings/sides of 3 behind striker... that leaves Hancock in no.10 spot (if fit) or Kosylo (who was replaced against Dover) or maybe Leitch-Smith who did well when he came on last match... Dinanga has not done it last two games so maybe a replacement could happen there eg Leitch-Smith or Peers...

Hence lots of questions to address & we are unaware of injury updates (plus we seemed to play better after substitutions as a team v Dover)...

My best guess is the following (in usual 4,2,3,1)...

                          Thompson
Jackson   Mullarkey   Hannigan   Senior
                         Moult   Kirby
          Mooney   Hancock   Colclough
                         Leitch-Smith

Subs- Pringle, Kosylo, Furman, Dinanga, Peers

NB if Hancock unfit then start Kosylo & add Bunney to bench...

Score Prediction: Wealdstone 1-3 ALTY (Mooney, Colclough, Leitch-Smith)

Looking forward to going this game... COYR!

That's ace! Wonderful to re-read that article...

Think i'm going to find some time in coming weeks to revisit the whole 'When we were Kings' series - enjoyed reading the story of that season when published...

Amazing factual account of the superb footy season... 👍

Altrincham FC First Team / Who remembers this game?
« on: September 08, 2021, 10:00:08 AM »
Alty away at Wealdstone in Dec 1979???

APL (Conference) Sat 8th Dec1979
NB Alty on way to APL title & Stones about 15/16th in Lge
Match at Wealdstone old ground of Lower Mead in Harrow

Result: Wealdstone 1-4 Alty (Att: 842)

Two well known players played in the game... one at start of his career & one at end of career...
Ex- Man Utd keeper Alex Stepney (then 37) in goal for Alty & future England LB (78 Eng caps) Stuart Pearce (then 17 or 18) in early game in his Wealdston career before he would go on to make 241 Stones apps & before moving onto Coventry, Forest, etc...

Alty won the game 4-1 thanks to two goals each (i think) from Whitbread & Howard...

Will be happy with any win this Saturday... COYR!

PS always good to look back, bar fact you then realise your age! :) :) :)

Think will be the same starting XI at Halifax (bar Bunney at LB if Fitzpatrick unfit)...

Some may clamour to try to fit Furman in, but shouldn't change a winning team (unless injuries); especially after such an impress result at Torquay... Furman will probably be on bench...

Predicted score: Halifax 1-2 ALTY (Colclough, Dinanga)
Alty fans - hopefully over 250

« on: August 21, 2021, 12:24:45 PM »
Yep, it's about time we tried to win this Cup again...

Alty first entered this comp in 1900 & have won the Cup 7 times...

Winners: 1905 1934 1967 1982 1999 2005 2009

Finalists (further 14 times): 1908 1919 1923 1953 1956 1970 1975 1985 1987 1995 2000 2002 2008 2011

So not really done anthing in last 10yrs...

I recall the 11 finals between 1982 upto 2011...

Also found this footage of Alty goal in 1995 final v Witton we lost...

Think team could be...

                              Thompson
       Senior   Mullarkey   Hannigan   Fitzpatrick
                            Moult    Pringle
 Mooney/Kosylo   Hancock   Colclough
                                Dinanga

NB can't make mind up between Mooney/Kosylo... normally would say Kosylo should start but Mooney's pre-season form & goals means i think i would plump for him (otherwise Mooney would be very unlucky not to start)...

Subs:   Kirby, Williams, Kosylo, Peers, Leitch-Smith

Score prediction: Torquay 1-1 ALTY (Mooney)

Altrincham FC First Team / Alty Rewards - Update
« on: August 16, 2021, 09:19:10 PM »
In the interests of equality i thought i would share the below email...

Now i know with most things in life the negative is usually reported more than the positive, but wanted to show that when things do go wrong occasionally people try to rectify issues - this is the case with the recent Alty Rewards 'mistake'...

Background...
The recent 'Thank You' thread (see seperately) was a Thank You initially to the Club for letting some fans attend the recent annual Team Photo... however, the Alty Rewards members were forgotten (part of their reward that they pay towards is the ability to attend said photo shoot)...

After this was highlighted, the Board admitted dropping the ball and have apologised for their mistake... also after realising this 'error' they wanted to put things right for the fans effected... this is good to see... in life we cannot change the past but can admit mistakes & try to put rectify issues... fair play to the Board in this matter...

Here is the email that all Alty Reward members should have received today from the Club...

NB it admits the error & apologises, offers alternative meet player opportunity, adds all to Patrons list (though in my case i already am a Patron), plus an Alty shirt (which is another perk every 12mths that Alty Rewards members pay towards)...

I do appreciate the fact that our Board are always trying to push the club forward & on rare occasions they make an error they try to resolve whatever issue as soon as possible to try to keep fans happy who are the heart of any club.

CLUB EMAIL:

Alty Rewards

15 Aug at 23:00

Dear Alty Rewards Member

We would like to sincerely apologise for not having fulfilled one of the benefits of your Membership an invitation to the Alty FC Photo Shoot this week.  This was an unfortunate oversight on our part and we hold our hands up to our mistake.

The Alty Rewards scheme was set up as a direct additional contribution to the Alty playing budget, helping us give Phil and Neil the resources they need to take this club forward.  And its fair to say your help has made a huge difference in this area.  We have been able to adapt like never before – we reacted to the loss of John Johnston by bringing in Mahon, Durrell and Mooney and that led directly to promotion back to the National League.  And last season we strengthened massively during the season with the arrival of Ali Smith and Ryan Colclough.  We wouldn’t have been able to do this without the funds made available to us from you all through Alty Rewards.

And this season, a critical season for the Robins, has seen the Board set the highest ever playing budget at the club, again underpinned by the Alty Rewards contribution.

Its fair to say that the onset of COVID-19 has limited our ability in many respects to deliver on the commitments of the scheme, but now as society opens up once again we will put the necessary measures in place.

As you were not able to attend the photo shoot last week, we would like to invite you down to have photo with some of the players on the 2nd September. Please let me know if you would like to attend.

We have also added you to the Patrons list and raffle.

Now that we have the new Puma kit available, please let me know if you would like a new Home or Away shirt and what size you would like.

We really appreciate all you do for us. Thank you for your continued support

Regards,

Lawrence

After the great news tonight about Colclough (after fearing he may leave like Smithy) i change my Torquay team to the following...

4,2,3,1...

                              TT
Senior   Mullarkey   Hannigan   Fitzpatrick
                     Moult   Colclough
          Kosylo   Hancock   Mooney
                          Dinanga

Subs: Gould, Sutton, Williams, Pringle, Kirby, Peers, Leitch-Smith

NB assume White, Hampson, Dens, Digie, Jackson all injured... Miller on loan... Adarbioyo? (played during pre-season but pic not on Team website), plus not sure if Parky will sign two trialists from today...
