Altrincham FC First Team / Notts County Match Thread
« on: April 28, 2021, 09:34:04 PM »
Well, God knows who's fit & who's injured, but i'm going with the following team (and hope these are fit to play)...

Think best avoiding a striker option for obvious reasons (basically we aint got one that actually scores)... going to change from usual 4,2,3,1 to 4,3,3 formation...

                     Thompson
Senior   Zouma   Hannigan   Hampson
             Moult   Smith   Kirby
        Hardy   Hancock   Colclough

Subs- Mullarkey, Richman, Mooney, Kosylo, Peers

Score Prediction: ALTY 2-2 Notts County
                              (Colclough, Hancock)

Unless players somehow rediscover form of midseason can only really see a defeat on recent form... BUT think draw is best can hope for... fingers crossed lads surprise us & rise to the occasion & somehow get a result... COYR!

For those who still wish to watch the lads on stream after recent poor performances, here's the link to the stream service for our away game at Solihull on Bank Hol Mon...

https://live.groupvisual.co.uk/smfc

NB this comes from Solihull's website... usual procedure... click on PAY then set up new account with usual name, email, password... then pay via card... only £7.50...

Alternatvely there's the usual Radio Robins for free...

Altrincham FC First Team / More Seaside Trips next Season...
« on: April 27, 2021, 10:05:11 PM »
So Grimsby are relegated from the EFL Div2 tonight... plus Southend are almost certain to join them (as they are 6pts from safety with 2 games to play)...

Hence, couple of extra seaside trips on the cards if away fans allowed... they may not be Blackpool, Whitby, or Scarborough but still a trip to the coast...

I've been waiting to see the new kits ever since the Puma deal was announced... the attached article from Alty's website dated March 18th states fans will get to see the new kits in the coming weeks ('The new-look home and away shirts will be ready for a public unveiling in the next few weeks') and also mentions next month ie April ('To coincide with the new home kit unveiling next month, the club plan to run a competition open to all supporters, offering two lucky winners the chance to join the kit committee in September and have a say in future kit designs')...

https://www.altrinchamfc.com/news/big-time-beckons-as-alty-sign-deal-with-kit-giants-puma

Now at a time when fans are a bit down after recent poor results a kit launch will bring some cheer back & give us something to look forward to... i know from previous directors messages the home kit will return to red & white stripes & the away kit be yellow...

When will the fans get to see the new designs? Hopefully in the near future; as the time periods quoted above have elapsed or almost elapsed... time to cheer up the fans... looking forward to seeing the new kits... guess wont please all, but would be good to see something new...

Altrincham FC First Team / Dens & other Testimonials
« on: April 25, 2021, 10:25:42 PM »
After posting something on Best XI thread... thought part of my post about Dens Testimonial deserved own thread...

Regarding Dens, this season was meant to be his testimonial season with a testimonial game at some point... obviously Covid wrecked any plans but hopefully when the pitch is relaid maybe the Dens Testimonial can be the 1st game played on the new pitch (at the end of pre-season aways) and just before new season's 1st home league game... also come mid August hopefully fans will be welcomed in bigger numbers and Covid more under control via more vaccines etc...

Can't wait for the promised Dens Testimonial to reward this Alty Legend... wonder who we'll play in this game & also who Dens may pick for his Alty XI from players he's  played with over his time with us... it will be good to see some of the old boys back for Dens Testimonial...
----------------
I reckon the Dens Testimonial would be a great match to christen the new pitch plus welcome fans before the new season... from his 1st contract in Sept 2008 Dens has some great players he could call on for his Alty Team... wonder who he'll choose... who would you choose from 2008 onwards?

Quick thought on this would be post 2008...

                            Coburn
Densmore   Havern   Leather   Griffin
     Watmore   Moult   Lawton   Clee
                     Reeves   Hulme
Subs:
TT, Hannigan, Richman, Smith, Hancock, Lawrie, Little

Also what is the best Testimonial/Benefit match you have seen involving an Alty team over the years?

Altrincham FC First Team / Fans Return / New Pitch / FanZone Updates
« on: April 17, 2021, 08:33:39 AM »
Great to read Bill's Programme notes for today's game... always a good read... here's part of his submission that gives an update on future plans & what's happening in coming wks...

The  time  is  fast  approaching  when  we  will  be  formally  announcing  our  plans  for  the  pitch  renovation  in the  close  season,  and  how  you  can  help.  We  are  days  away  from  hearing  the  result  of  our  grant application  from  the  Football  Stadia  Improvement  Fund.  Neil  Faulkner,  Paul  Carter,  groundsman  Neil Brown  and  I  met  with  the  preferred  supplier  for  the  work,  with  Lawrence  joining  by  conference  call before  the  game  last  Saturday.  Watch  this  space!

Coming  this  week,  too,  should  be  an  update  on  the  Fan  Zone  with  those  of  you  who  sponsored  tiles  being contacted  to  finalise  your  wording  as  we  get  ready  to  clear  the  site  for  the  Phase  One  build.  We  are  also finalising  the  sponsors  lounge,  with  the  very  last  bits  of  work  being  completed  soon.

All  this  activity!  Its  almost  as  if  we  are  preparing  to  have  fans  once  more  in  The  J.Davidson  Stadium.  And indeed  this  is  the  case.  We  have  submitted  our  plans,  processes  and  protocols  to  Trafford  Borough Council  with  an  intent  to  readmit  fans  for  the  last  two  home  games  of  the  season,  the  rearranged  tie against  Yeovil  Town  on  22nd  May  and  the  last  game  of  the  season  against  Torquay  United  the  following Saturday.  An  immense  amount  of  work  has  gone  on  to  get  us  to  this  point,  led  by  Nigel  Bunce,  Paul  Carter and  Grahame  Rowley  and  a  lot  more  work  is  needed  before  we  can  confirm  arrangements.  However  be assured  it  will  be  home  fans  only,  and  prioritised  with  season  ticket  holders  at  the  top  of  the  list.  We hope  to  be  able  to  announce  more  details  in  the  coming  weeks  –  it  will  be  great  to  have  you  back.

Meanwhile,  on  the  playing  side,  Rob  Esteva  and  Phil  Parkinson  are  working  very  hard  to  establish,  finalise and  implement  our  approach  for  next  season.  The  second  season  in  this  league  is  quite  often  the  most difficult,  and  we  recognise  the  work  we  need  to  do  in  readiness.

Altrincham FC First Team / PlayOff Information
« on: April 16, 2021, 08:42:20 AM »
I know after a recent poor run we are unlikely to make the Playoffs but if we somehow did the JL Alty Files website has the following piece via the Hartlepool Mail...

When will the National League play-offs take place?

Eliminator round matches: fourth v seventh and fifth v sixth. The first round of play-off matches will see the sides finishing fourth to seventh compete with the highest ranked team playing at home in front of a limited crowd. These matches will take place the weekend of Saturday, June 5 with both matches being shown live on BT Sport. The fixture dates remain flexible based on the logistics of the BT Sport schedule. Specific times and dates will be ratified once the teams competing have been confirmed.Semi-final matches: second v winner of fifth v sixth eliminator round match and third v winner of fourth v seventh eliminator round match. The semi-final matches will introduce the sides finishing second and third as they host the winners of the eliminator round matches...

These fixtures are set to take place on the weekend of Saturday, June 12 and will be broadcast live on BT Sport. As with the previous round, fixtures remain flexible based on the BT Sport schedule.

Final match: Semi-final winner v Semi-final winner. The National League play-off final is set to take place on the weekend of Saturday, June 19 according to the National League.

The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport with the winners going on the secure a place in the EFL for the 2021-22 season...

The venue for the play-off final is yet to be confirmed. The usual venue of Wembley Stadium cannot be guaranteed due to the stadium hosting Euro 2020 matches for England on June 13, June 18 and June 22.

A number of potential venues have been mooted, including unconfirmed reports of Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. Fans are set to be allowed back into all sports stadiums from May 17 with Wembley due to welcome 21,000 fans for the FA Cup final on May 15. There has been no clarification regarding how many supporters, if any, will be allowed to attend the play-off final this season".

Altrincham FC First Team / Player Injury Update
« on: April 15, 2021, 06:43:21 PM »
The Alty website has the following injury update...

Matty Kosylo - suffered a knee injury in the home match against Boreham Wood and then aggravated it away to Woking. Currently undergoing intervention work to guard against any repeat moving forward but should be back soon.

Andy White - out for the season, as already reported, but hopes to be back for the build-up to next season.

Alistair Smith - injured his ankle at Maidenhead but rehab going well and making big strides to be back as soon as possible. Not far off.

Connor Hampson - has had a few niggles to contend with but nothing serious and should be back very soon.

Shaun Densmore - doing strengthening and movement exercises for his arm to increase mobility and bring him up to speed after wrist injury at Bromley. Has resumed non-contact training and should be back in a week or so.

Yoan Zouma - has been getting treatment at Barrow and from us in his recovery from a hamstring tweak. He is not far away at all and is very close to getting back on the pitch.

Fisayo Adarabioyo - has shown a fantastic attitude in dealing with a really tough couple of months since picking up what has proved a problematic ankle injury. The reward for all his hard work is that he is back in training and pushing hard to get back in the squad.

Dan Mooney - he is back in training and catching up on his fitness after a hamstring problem. A couple of sessions away from potentially starting a game.
