Sounds like there's no chance the game will be on tomorrow, which is a real shame.

Given the extreme conditions these last two weeks, overnight, and tomorrow, to be fair not sure having the covers on would make much difference.

I was really looking forward to this one, for all the reasons given by others re big crowd, great chance to test ourselves against the 'best' etc etc.

Amazed that the match is on - won't be for the faint hearted on or off the pitch.  Thanks to all who have braved the weather and travelled up for this one.

Come on Alty - I predict 5 4 to The Robins - Burrell to score hattrick in injury time after coming off the bench in the 88th minute - then get sent off.

I'd settle for 1 point though

Do we really need him at present?

I'd have had him on at half time yesterday in a heartbeat, he's got the ability to score from nothing. Up to the management of course, but recruiting a player that was integral to Macc achieving Div 2 status would illustrate the club are deadly serious about promotion, not just as a pleasant by-product from great football.

JTD agree with every word - he is a class act and would make a major difference - which we could have done with yesterday.  That he is not a sainted angel does not bother me in the least - he would be a brilliant signing.

Folks the bottom line is that we only had 4 turnstiles open, and so it was inevitable and foreseeable that yet again we would see large numbers of people still queuing 10 to 15 minutes after kick off.

We can blame people for turning out a few minutes before kick off-  but this has been happening since time began and was never this much of a problem.

We can bury our heads in the sand and make out there is no problem - one poster saying there was no queue at the Golf Road at 3pm - that is simply untrue-  I was outside the golf road at that time and there were 150 plus easy at that time - and a lot of people were really fed up.

We can look at other, valid ways of selling tickets - e-tickets a good idea and it seems to be working very well.

But whatever you think, or the club does, 4 turnstiles open for a match where a crowd of 1300-1400 was expected is just not acceptable and is inviting problems. This has happened at every single Saturday match in recent weeks - 4 turnstiles open - chaos in the few minutes before and after kick off - so it isn't as if this is catching the club unawares.

We need more turnstile operators, it is that simple - but no one at the club is asking for them.  When I did the turnstiles for 3 years we never had less than 8 turnstiles open for generally much smaller attendances, you got free entry, and a fiver for your troubles as well.  I became one because we were short for the Burton FA Cup match so George Heslop put a call for volunteers on the website - and I carried on because it was handy for me at the time and because it was contributing to the club. I am sure there must be 4 or 5 fans out there who would be happy to help out if they were asked.

But we HAVE to address this quickly.  We have a match against Kings Lynn coming up which we will need to be on our game for - away turnstiles open, all golf road turnstiles open - as it will attract a bigger crowd and we can expect a fair few from Norfolk given it is the first time we have played them at moss lane.

If we don't have this sorted by the Chester match then we can expect all hell to break loose.

I am not looking to criticise club officials for this - you work so hard on match days and in most respects organisation and professionalism at the club has improved dramatically-  but I know what I am talking about here, and this must be addressed or we will have much bigger problems down the line.

Please take this in the constructive spirit in which it is intended

This is excellent.  Jordan deserves this fully, and I hope that everyone participates fully in both.

Don't normally get to midweek matches but may open negotiations with Mrs Leeds for this one, as I want to be there to pay tribute to him.

Still cannot get over how tragic, and pointless, his death was.  What is wrong with this country that you can't go out on a Friday night without having to watch your back for knuckled headed thugs out to cause mayhem? I'm so sick of so many things in this country being ruined by ignorant, aggressive scum.

Don't wish the lad ill at all, but is he isn't producing for Chester and Mahon is for us, then we come out of that deal pretty well.  I see us playing Chester in the play offs at the end of this season, and I would much rather we finished above them and got them at home.  Happy for him to take the league by storm once we have been promoted to The National League and Chester are doomed to another season in League North!  ;D

2-2

Hulme, Mahon

113 Alty
Well done on the score Mr Flynn.  151 in the away end, which is impressive and Hancock and JJ- w can called him that now - scoring to come from behind twice.

That goes down as a very big away point. we are down 1 place to 7th but two home wins in a row would push us well up the table.

I couldn't get to this one, but would be interested in views of those who went - battling performance or off day?

Cant get to this one  - good luck to all those attending.

Telford have been patchy all season, and not had a good run of late, but they are capable of scoring goals against good sides, so I am a bit nervous about this one.

Will go for optimism - Telford 1 Alty 2 - Hulme, Mahon attendance 1066 - 137 in away end

Head says a draw a good result though

Manslaughter for beating a fit and healthy 25 year old lad to death  :o

Think the initiative - which has gone viral - of donating shirts from clubs with the number 25 on, and with the name Sinnott on the back - with a view to auctioning them off for charity - is awesome.  What a fantastic tribute that is to Jordan.  I understand clubs at all levels and from overseas as well - example Barcelona - have already donated.  I hope we are doing so as well, and my missus thinks we should do a tribute rainbow shirt as well - on the basis that it will probably go for quite a lot of money.

Hope we do a minute's applause at our next home match - I know we don't tend to for our own until the last match of the season -but he played 57 times for us, more times than he played for anyone else, and the tragic and horrifying circumstances of his death in my view merit us doing something special by way of tribute to him and out of respect for his family. I am wsure it would comfort Lee and co to know that we really pushed the boat out for them.   What do others think?

Thank you, will get me much needed brownie points from Mrs Leeds, claimable against end of season away trips while she looks after the kids  ;)

Excellent post - especially Mrs Leeds' suggestion.

such a shame that Kettering playing in a sub tier 7 ground that isn't even in Kettering.  Rockingham Road was one of the more formidable away trips back in the day.  Great atmosphere, passionate fans, and intimidating to scary when they were a big club in the conference.

The play off semi 2nd leg victory in extra time in 2005 one of my fondest, and most unexpected, memories following Alty. We celebrated so hard when the 2nd goal went in that there was an explosion in my head!! It was either a mini stroke or a huge adrenaline surge.  Utter joy!

Was the video for the second goal shot from a grassy knoll?

;D No they only had one cameraman, and he shot from the window of the programme depository.

I'm sure the irony is not lost on a lot of people that someone like JJ would have typically struggled on that pitch last night.

On which subject, I would welcome the thoughts on Mahon's performance last night from anyone who was there.  I thought he put in a good shift last Saturday when he came on.

fantastic 3 points in a match we would expect to lose most seasons - away in January against an in form team - this team has got bucket loads of character

This is the best thread this forum has ever produced.
better than my winter break and where is Chris Senior ones ? I think not how dare you
It's rumoured that Chris Senior is taking a winter break. It must be true - tweeted by Johnson and Morley......
you know what I say let bygones be bygones . Good luck JJ hope it works out. But Chester have zero class from thier behaviour at moss lane ... Again... and the lack of class on twitter . I want anyone to go up but them

This. Exactly.

Chris Senior is on a winter break and is showing tourists around the ruins of Chester City  ;D He hotly denies rumours that he is in fact Yoda

Agree that Jordan is an absolute diamond- his performance against Pompey when he ran their defence ragged, won the penalty, should have been given another and di everything but score proved that he is more than capable of doing a good job of work for a club 2 or 3 steps up the ladder.

He will have been noticed by a lot of bigger clubs so I would be gobsmacked if someone doesn't come in for him.  I just hope that if this happens we sell him to a league club rather than a non league club - I don't buy the argument that at 29 and a bit he is too old for league football - a player of his calibre would be value for a few more seasons.  Also, I hope we don't let him go for anything less than a substantial fee with a sell on clause, and that if another non league club does come into him we do whatever we can to persuade him to stay.

But if he gets a chance of league football and we get a good fee, then we should not stand in his way.

Safe to say if Chester come knocking we should tell them where to go - Wrexham maybe!!

You can see the March home fixture against Chester being needle match of the season, and probably biggest attendance too if we are both still in play off zone.  Hope we take no chances with security and policing, and that we make sure all the turnstiles are operating as well.  Chester fans have caused serious disorder against us at Moss Lane twice in recent seasons, and young children have been petrified and very upset - don't let them spoil everyone's day a third time - acknowledging that we are talking about a small minority, and it is clear that most Chester fans are as sick of their hooligan element as everyone else is.
