To be fair the 1000 capacity for the chequers end/away end hasn't just been set.  That was the capacity for the Bromley match, I believe, and was the main reason why we were able to increase the capacity for that match. Uncovered terracing is not subject to the same restrictions as covered terracing is. Not sure what the board should have said that they didn't TBH.

The leader of TBC confirmed the effective capacity as 5000 and at 3900 for the next two matches to a random proper fan on Friday but not to the club.  That isn't the board's fault. They have had this entire situation visited on them from nowhere and I know for a fact that the largely unpaid volunteers that comprise the board and management of the club have worked night and day and lost a lot of sleep trying to put this whole sorry mess right - they did not create or deserve this mess but they have done everything humanly possible to sort it out,

What's the score  - and how many Alty there?

Re the comment about how it would be nice if we could find out before fans of other clubs what is going on -

1.  Re the capacity - the club cannot release information about capacity until we get agreement from TBC - and whilst details were shared with individual fans about the capscity for the Xmas period games-  I don't think the club received any confirmation until maybe yesterday afternoon.
2. The Chequers end is not one of the three restricted areas in the ground - these are The Golf Road, the Pop side and the Main Stand - so capacity can be set at 1000 for the Chequers end.  The Family stand is not restricted either - so capacity for that can be fixed at 1177.  Therefore we can safely release 1000 standing tickets to Wrexham and Stockport, and we can also release up to 177 seats to them.

The point of this is that the club has definitely not with-held information from Alty fans about capacity and tickets.

3900 - if this has actually been agreed now by TBC - is a good working capacity for the two big games, and if we sell out both, we will have the 2 biggest league attendances at Moss Lane for over 50 years.

For all the problems on and off the field in recent weeks, the fact that we are talking in slightly disappointed terms about attendances restricted to 3900 shows just how far we have come in the last 3 years or so.

My advice is to get your rickets bought for both games asap - as I think we may indeed sell out.

If we are using metal detectors  - wands - then surely this is because TBC have told us we have to - don't imagine we are doing it for fun.  What should we do - tell Trafford where to stick them and see the ground closed down? Surely boycotting the club just loses us support and revenue and hurts the club even more when we have lost a fortune the last few weeks anyway

It'd be great if we could break 4 figures for a midweek match.

We have had about 1900 home fans at the Dover match and about 1700 home fans against Dover.  If we could the majority of those along tomorrow, that would be magnificent.

I know two home matches in a week is an expense for everyone, but ultimately its actually 5 home matches in 18 months, and the performance against one of the biggest and best clubs in the league last Saturday deserves a good turnout and a noisy atmosphere tomorrow night.

So make the effort if you can.  I am coming over from dirty, dirty Leeds after all .....

Great win in the end - but at times we looked like we might have blown it.  The persistence and determination of the team is something to behold though - we never gave up on 3 points and we deserved it. Think it could have been more though - we need to start moving our goal difference into the black - as that was a pretty poor and low in confidence Barnet side who simply couldn't handle Kosylo and Mooney and n fact Cissay when he came on troubled them as well.

The pitch was made for our flowing play - and we looked a class above all match.  Just hope this season keeps going as long as possible because we look worth a play off place at the moment.  Heady days!!

To be fair the commentators were very generous spirited and full of praise for us - particularly Kosy who they thought was best player on the pitch  - he was.  They seemed a bit subdued at times - perhaps because they are 2nd bottom and we were battering them for most of the 2nd half!! Price was too much but I needed my Alty fix today and it did the trick.

I wouldn't be in favour of increasing streaming prices though - we don't get huge numbers for our home matches and we would put people off - home and away - if we increased prices.  I tend to the view that if we charged less we would make more money from the increased take up if anything - but accept that it would be a risk to try when it looks like there is no more government money coming our way

If we are all being completely honest, playing football at all with the virus raging out of control is a high risk activity. It is a contact sport. On this basis, it's a lottery which clubs are and aren't impacted and it seems to me most clubs will be impacted at some point as long as the games keep on being played.

Its just plain bad luck it hit us before the Trophy game, but I don't believe it would have been a priority for us - consolidating and attaining a respectable, stable footing in the National League is.  Just imagine how gutting it would have been had we got to Wembley for the first time since 1986, and none of us could go because it was being played behind closed doors.

to be fair I thought she ran the game pretty well today.  The penalty shout was definitely ball to arm - but was travelling like a rocket -  and many refs wouldn't have given it for the same reasons, though I thought it should have been at least an indirect free kick as it broke the move up.

You could see that the Fax players - who were cheating cry babies and sneaky bastards - were trying to crowd her and intimidate her a couple of times and it was pretty nasty to watch - but she stood her ground well and handled a couple of tricky moments very professionally and with a lot of character.  She has my vote

Been working all day today so is an absolute joy to finish work and find out that we are through to the next round.  I fully expected the usual desultory exit from a competition that hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us in a long time.

This result, combined with recent performances in the league, suggests to me that this side has developed a key factor for any team that wants success - resilience.

This sort of game would not have gone our way in most of the last 30 or so seasons - this side is going places - hopefully all the way to Wembley!

I was shocked and surprised when I heard this as I really thought Jordan was an Alty loyalist.  I am not sure this will prove to be a good move for him, and it does suggest his ambition is maybe burned out, and he wants to cash in for his last few seasons playing.  I get that and I am sure it wasn't an easy decision for him to make - just disappointed to see him go - he was brilliant for us - as good as any striker we have had in the last 30 years - and I was so looking forward to him making National League defences look like clowns

I'm just a tad worried as I am getting the screen showing the ground saying live streaming will commence shortly and cheesy repeat loop music, and it is kick off is 8 minutes!! Is anyone getting anything different?

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Who do we need for next season
« on: August 10, 2020, 06:54:30 PM »
I'd be loathe to release anyone because they have all put in such fantastic graft in the last few years to get us back in the National.

One or two possibly are slightly short on quality - though not on heart -  but I will say with confidence that Jordan Hulme will thrive at the higher level - his outstanding front man performance at Portsmouth will live long in the memory and he has developed so much as a player under Phil and Neil - he is as good a play maker as he is a striker.

One thing I remember after we went up in 2005 is that the speed and fitness levels of players in the conference were streets ahead of us, and players who had looked like world beaters when we won the play offs looked off the pace at the higher level.  I don't think we will have this problem this time round going forward, but we need a back four that have the pace and the legs to live with the sides they will be up against.
