How much do you feel for these poor young lads?

These are absolutely the saddest pictures I think I've seen of a football match. Absolutely awful. I really hope those young lads can pull through this and it doesn't affect their careers.

Oh hang on a minute, no they don't, they've signed Salisbury's keeper permanently and given him an 18 MONTH CONTRACT!!  :o  :o

What an absolute disgrace, and I mean truly. Absolutely shocking.  ::)

Remember when they defrauded the football foundation and bleated that the fine and repayments would put them out of business. Well, despite some of them idiots trying to shout us down, we were quite correct, it was indeed all a load of bollocks as their money launderers owners are quite clearly loaded.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/01/macclesfield-everton

Promoted on fraudulent money, ground developed by fraud, kept up by lying fraudster.

Incidentally, Manchester United and Manchester City are nowhere near Macclesfield for the record.

... THE GAME AGAINST VICS ON NEW YEAR'S DAY AND THE NEW YEAR'S DAY RAFFLE.

1. RECEPTICLES, I NEED A RECEPTICLE This I suppose is the good news part of the draw so far. We've sold somewhere upto 600 books of tickets, which is nearly 3,000 individual tickets. Last Wednesday (23rd) myself, the Rowleys, Jenny, Dave and Chris Denham spent about 3 hours folding all these up. The end result being that the tombola we have is virtually full already.

DOES ANYONE HAVE OR KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO HAS A LARGE TOMBOLA WE COULD BORROW FOR NYD?
If so, please email me via the forum or garethhthomas@tiscali.co.uk and I will be able to come and collect it.

2. RETURN OF SOLD TICKETS ASAP As you will be able to tell from above, folding tickets into quarters and putting them into a tombola is quite time consuming. We currently have only one person (Louise Gregory) who has volunteered to do this on NYD. We may sell 200 books of tickets at the game, we have 200 books out there being sold already.

IF YOU ARE BRINGING SOLD TICKETS WITH YOU TO THE GAME CAN YOU RETURN THEM TO MYSELF, FOZ, GRAHAME ROWLEY OR EVEN BETTER HAND THEM IN AT THE CLUB SHOP A.S.A.P ON NYD PLEASE? with money obviously, for folding purposes

3. VOLUNTEERS FOR HELP ON NYD I know that this is the last thing anyone really wants to do but if we are to make this a successfull draw please respond to this thread if you can help before/at half time/ after the game in these ways.

a) Selling tickets

- this can be done either by sitting in the bar and doing so or walking around the ground helping me (the only current seller), bear in mind we expect to have over 500 home fans who haven't been to a game or bought tickets it would be a tragedy if becuase of lack of numbers we could only sell to 40 of them

b) writing names on tickets / folding them up

To speed up selling tickets we have been asking people to put their name and tel no on the front ticket and filling in the other 4 in the book later. If you could sit in the bar or club shop and fill these in it would be a great help.

If you could sit next to this person and fold the tickets up into quarters that we be a huge help too.

Please bear in mind that we expect to sell a great deal of tickets after the match but before the draw at 5.30pm, a flurry of workers at that point could yield a golden profit.

Again, if you could help please email me here on the forum or garethhthomas@tiscali.co.uk or reply on this thread. It would be greatly appreciated.

We need to sell 400 more books of tickets to hit our 1000 book target, if you haven't already bought a ticket please make sure you get on at the game!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Christmas Carol concert
« on: December 24, 2008, 11:32:56 AM »
ALTY TUNE UP
Altrincham FC held a Carol Service last night, led by club chaplain Andy Barclay-Watts, accompanied by the musicians of Sale Baptist Church. A packed Noel White Suite witnessed readings by Barry Pond and Robbie Lawton and an interview with Kevin Street, Alty's midfielder who is aiming to become a Religious Education teacher. The finale was a rendition of "Once in Royal David's City" by a choir comprising Chris Lane, Kevin Street, Robbie Lawton, Anthony Danylyk, Chris Young and Chris Senior and led by Alty assistant manager Graham Barrow.
Chris Senior drew the raffle prizes, with proceeds going to the Sale Baptist Church Homeless Project.

A very enjoyable evening at a fiairly full NWS, good to see a number of the players turn up after training. A couple of observations of the evening.

1) Laney's a pretty decent carol singer

2) Talking of which, I'm seriously going to have to consider going to church again...

Altrincham FC First Team / TASC New Years Day Raffle Update.
« on: December 18, 2008, 05:13:18 PM »
All,

Just to update you on the progress of the raffle ticket sales. We set ourself a challenging target of selling 1000 books of raffle tickets for the draw. So far as of today we've sold circa 340 books which is a good effort but still we have some way to go.

Can I ask you again..

..to buy some tickets at the Burton game, available in the club shop or around the ground

.. to take some away with you to sell. If everyone could attempt to sell even only 2 books of tickets to people who don't come to Alty matches, then we would reach our target.

.. if you have already bought tickets, to consider buying one more book to cover last weeks financial disaster.

Many thanks again to those of you who have bought and sold tickets, I know James Black sold a dozen books or so and that Grahame Rowley sold 50 books so it can be done. And I would like to add my gratitude to Mike Davies who has sold over 100 books on his own  :o an absolutely fantastic effort and shining example for us all.  :) :)

p.s. I need 2 or 3 helpers just to sell tickets in the bar or come around the ground with buckets with me. We are aiming to sell over 100 books on the terraces at saturdays game. Please pm me if you can help in any way shape or form.

Thanks

Gareth Thomas (TASC)

Altrincham FC First Team / Question re Floodlights at Moss Lane.
« on: December 17, 2008, 05:15:30 PM »
Ok, apart from the fact that the new ones aren't as good as the old ones, I understand that the reasons for the floodlight failure against Luton (and possibly Farsley and Wrexham) was that the fuse went because it required so much electricity, or that other parts of the ground were overloading the circuits, (namely the chip fryers in the new snack bar).

I believe this was got round in the Luton game by switching off all other lights etc (in the bar and offices, dressing rooms during the game) so as to keep the power on.

If that is correct, can I just enquire whether the problem has been rectified fully as when Setanta come on New Years Day they will be using extra power and swicthing everything else apart from the floodlights off won't be an option?

Anyone at the club shed some light on this potentially huge problem?

Altrincham FC First Team / NEW YEARS DAY DRAW - TICKET DETAILS.
« on: November 27, 2008, 12:58:36 PM »
ALL,

Tickets for the New Years Day Draw will again be on sale at Saturdays game v Rushden, price 40p each or basically £2 for abook of 5. They will be on sale in the club shop and in the bar. There will be tickets for people to take home and sell. Please see us and do this, if everyone can just sell one or two books to non Alty fans it will make a huge difference.

2 pleas.

1. We expect to sell a lot of books/tickets at the Northwich game on New Years Day to people who aren't normally at home games. For regular fans please could you buy your raffle tickets at the Rushden game and take books to sell and return at future home games. This will get a lot of the bulk sold and enable us to sell more effetively

2. We badly need at least 3 or 4 people to sell the tickets in the ground before the game and at half time like the bucket collections. There are about 400 people at home games on the popular side and main stand who don't come in the bar or leave their positions. We badly need to reach out to those people in order to amake this draw successful. It's easy to do but we need to do it now. Again I appreciate people often don't bother with this sort of thing but if anyone on here (Wayne, Oll Needham etc  ;) ) could give us a hand just this once we can get this out of the way.

Please drop me an email garethhthomas@tiscali.co.uk

We have set ourselves a target of selling 1000 books, Grahame Rowley sold 20 and James Black did brilliantly and sold 15, we need 100+ people selling a handful each.

Regards

Altrincham FC First Team / With all due respect etc..
« on: November 24, 2008, 05:44:42 PM »
Just researching something completely seperate to Alty but ended up on a link from our website after we won away at Aldershot in our first season up. These comments are from Shots captain Steve Watson

Captain Steve Watson added, "We carved out a lot of chances and there was only one team who was passing the ball... We must have put about 30 balls into their box and I don’t understand how… if you did that at any other club, they’d be getting a lot of goals. I think we’ve got to work on finishing and killing teams off, because they were there to be beaten today. They were a poor side... We need to be putting a team out there where we feel confident enough to say that Altrincham at home should be a massive game and we should be beating them into the ground. Full stop. They’ve just come up and they’ve got to be beaten. They didn’t really have any chances, it was only the two crosses that they had and they put them away...We’ve got to be saying we can’t be beaten by teams like that".

I just thought it was funny as it's probably the best example ever of that. In fact, he didn't even consider "with all due respect".

Point is, you don't hear that so much now, not to that extent. How far do you think we've come along in those stakes?

Ok a bit late but I found this on the cambridge site. Quite good I think, I sense a dangerous air of respect pervading.
