Altrincham FC First Team / Darren Tinsons first Alty victory?
« on: September 23, 2007, 12:22:48 PM »
Since when? I had a little discussion with Tinno yesterday enquiring whether this was the first competitive Alty match that he has been involved in that we have won since the FA Cup replay against Colwyn Bay in October 1992.

I mentioned how our initial thought were that he was just a young unibond defender with a mullet who we wouldn't see again but as it happened our paths would cross many times wit him being an absolute rock of a defender and putting us to the sword for Vics, Macc, Shrewsbury and Burton. ANd hence how we were so glad to have him here, as despite all opposition banter he is one of the emminent conference defenders in recent times who we always had a hell of a lot of respect for.

Tinno thinks so but wasn't sure if I'm right about this being Alty first win but as far as Ic an remember he played for Vics when they beat us 4-3 with Oghani scoring, played for Macc when they won the league so unlikely there, came abck with Shrewsbury to knock us out of the Trophy and we've had nowt off Burton since we got back.

It may be possibly he played in the game we won 3-2 at Macc, Mark Clancy played, snow was cleared off the pitch, Dean Pritchard scored the winner.  ;D ;D

Anyone? Has one of the longest hoodoos in football been broken at last?

Altrincham FC First Team / Geoff Goodwin latest quote
« on: September 20, 2007, 11:39:39 PM »
Not quite the apology taht Alty365 wants but it's a start. i think this is more or less what some people wanted to hear originally. From the club website.

MOVE ON
Geoff Goodwin referred last night to the exchange of views between the Altrincham chairman and a number of supporters critical of the team's management this season. Geoff said "I have had my say and they have had theirs. I have to ask, how did we get into this situation? We have come a long way in the last five years and we need to get together and get things moving forward". Geoff also indicated that there were genuine reasons to be positive as on Saturday the club would be celebrating gaining its Charter Standard which underlines its involvement with the local community, which is a vital step for its long-term future.

How I feel at the moment too Geoff, bollocks to it all. I don't care if GH plays 8-1-1 and we win on Saturday. Lets just all get together. I'm sure GH will start to reconsider some tactics in the meantime as well.

'Get things moving forward' - in every sense I would suggest, on and off the pitch. Together.

Altrincham FC First Team / Woking You tube highlights
« on: September 16, 2007, 09:56:14 AM »
Taken off the link from the Woking forum, thanks lads.

Obviously hard to get a proper flow of the game but these were more or less the highlights. Stu is clearly hampered and it's strange to realise how close we were to actually getting a point. Sedgemores free kick about 1.50 in was so close to the post. I couldn't see how it ahd missed at the time or Senior ahdn't got onto it. It looks even closer on here.

I need an Alty fan to enter my prediction competition at Woking, all you need to do is predict the scores of the 5 games below, you score 15 points for a correct score or 5 points for a correct result, the fan with the highest score at the end of the season will win £40. Highest score so far is 20 from Cambridge and Weymouth.

Games are;

WOKING V ALTY
CAMBRIDGE V CRAWLEY
OXFORD V ALDERSHOT
RUSHDEN V NC BURTON
YORK V STEVENAGE

You also need to enter the crowd(this is used for tie break purposes).

I will take the first set of scores.

Altrincham FC First Team / Donations / money to the club
« on: September 10, 2007, 10:27:47 AM »
Something got me thinking about the bucket collections the other day, I noticed at a game they had raised £60 or so whereas in the past they had been £90 odd. And I was just wondering what determines people giving money. Now I know that Gary has changed the bucket collections to the club rather than to STAR and Idon't want to dip into that sort of debate but it did make me wonder where people see there money going.

What I'm getting at is, having read the player wage fund thing, is are people more likely to give their money with a set target? When we were £600k in debt or whatever it was the focus was pretty simple. Now I get the impression people would like a better idea, for example would people have donated more money if we (that's a royal we!) had said we're having bucket collections to raise money for a new plasma tv in the bar, or it's specifically for a new toilet block at the golf road, it's for a new kit for Alty juniors etc?

IMO, we have to get bigger regular crowds as we all only have a certain amount we can give however much we'd like to but in the meantime what categories to people fall into. I'm not doing a poll, a thread is far more interesting.

1) I'll give anything as long as it helps the club I'm not bothered, I know we need more money

2) I'll sign up/pay for stuff which gives me a chance of a return, i.e. golden goal, yankee, monthly draw etc

3) Too much trouble, I'll just whack some change in the bucket if it somes near me as it's easier

4) I'll contribute more if it's better for me, i.e if the bar had sky and served food I'd go in there instead of the george for the lunchtime premiership game, snack bars owned by the club would make me more likely to buy food at the game.

5) I'm not sure where the money goes, I'd like a tangible return on it, i.e. being told what is being collected for or what the scheme is going to like a player fund

6) I'm not giving owt!

7) I just want to see us win!

Please note, I'm not having a dig at anyone who doesn't really contribute much beyond admission fee and a programme, I know that that's nearly £15 in itself and it all adds up to be fair cost wise, liekwise, I guess if you genuinely don't feel the need to be contributing in extra ways then that's your prerogative too. I'm just interest in how much of a crossover there is, i.e, are people who would give to a player fund going to be giving an extra pound or so or giving the pound they would've used to buy a golden goal tcket?

Altrincham FC First Team / Stuart Elliott
« on: September 06, 2007, 12:26:57 AM »
From the SAM report

"Gareth Whalley made a monkey of Stuart Elliott, nutmegging the former Northwich Victoria man to win a corner. Then, from the resultant set piece, he picked out Darren Tinson with a delightful ball and the centre half powered a header in off the bar."

Loving your work there Conor old son!! The slyest of sly digs. Marvellous.  ;) :-X

Altrincham FC First Team / And I've found out why we drew at York
« on: September 05, 2007, 01:12:35 AM »
Probably the sh*ttest scouting mission since the Welsh bloke at Rorke's Drift said "I reckon there's about 20 of 'um!"

"Altrincham are not the strongest team in the division, but they are not the weakest and, in Chris Senior and Colin Potts, they have players with pace who can hurt you... "

I'll give you Senior and whilst Pottsy is a fully qualified f**king genius, who told Billy McEwan this, did he just check on Football Manager or something?  ;D ;D

Altrincham FC First Team / Pacey
« on: September 03, 2007, 03:52:19 PM »
Big mouth strikes again.  :D It's like the old days when he'd be railing against Stalybridge / Hyde / Tameside Council.

I did  have a good chortle at this though.

Droylsden's Dave Pace goes further, laying into Kettering owner Imran Ladak and Tamworth chairman Bob Andrews for their campaign to oust Moules. Pace said, "I'm hoping their campaign had nothing to do with John's resignation. They say it isn't but it all adds up. They ought to give the bloke a medal for getting North and South clubs two and a half times more sponsorship money than last year". Referring to Tamworth chairman Bob Andrews, Pace continued, "The fella at Tamworth is swapping sides like the Italian army. He wants to get his own house in order and get back up... Now he's not in the BSP, he's kicking off and making all sorts of waves. He should just start priaising John for what he did. Ladak has got to realise that he's got to get in the Premier and then get the rewards. Setanta TV doesn't want to watch Blue Square North and South clubs. They don't even want to watch Droylsden and we're up there!... I'm not moaning, just trying to make my team better so we might get a live game in future. Ladak wants to shut up and concentrate on getting up... Tamworth and Kettering wouldn't be shouting off if they were in the Blue Square Premier. They want to get off their backsides and get in it". Meanwhile, from the BBC, we learn that: "John Moules will be in the studio on the Non League Show this Monday from 9pm. (September 3rd) Email your questions to John - nonleague@bbc.co.uk. Listen LIVE to the Non League Show every Monday from 9pm www.bbc.co.uk/nonleague or in the greater London area by tuning to 94.9 FM or BBC London DAB and Sky channel 0152".

Altrincham FC First Team / Robbie Lawton
« on: August 28, 2007, 02:26:19 PM »
I think this boy should be playing as a..........

....centre forward!  :o

It struck me yesterday in the first half at Stafford. We know he's not a winger and we already have Pottsy but yesterday when we were playing 4-3-3 in the first 20 mins he was getting right up there on Azzas crosses from the left, holding of defenders, chesting them down.

Think about it  :-\

He runs the channels well, all day, can hold the ball up, not bad in the air, his finishing isn't bad either (I think he should get more goals than he does), wouldn't be bullied by conference defenders, we badly lack a presence like that.

Worth a go? Anyone else see this?  :)

Altrincham FC First Team / The most expensive Alty team ever?
« on: August 04, 2007, 08:49:47 PM »
Further to a convo myself, Foz, Flynny , the ROwleys and a few others had in the bar afterwards, what's the most expensive Alty side ever assembled, as in money paid for players?

Today we came up with

Matt Dickens, transferred for £250,000 from somewhere to Blackburn we think.

Paul WIlliams, one of the all time Alty wastes of space, apparentlt Stockport or Plymouth once played a quarter of a mil for this f***ing lummox.

Mark Ward, moved from Everton to City fot £1.2/1.5m

Gareth Whalley Crewe to Bradford £600,000

Any more ex Alty players who once commanded a fee?

Oh Paul Edwards left back in the late 80s went from Crewe to COventry I think for possibly as much as £400,000

Craney I spose for £150,000

Wonder if Nige Gleghorn or Kilcline ever had a fee paid.
