One of the opponents I first remember seeing at Moss Lane in the Cheshire League in the late 1950's.

Like us, founder members of both the NPL and the APL (subsequently the Conference). They were in their pomp before us in the early 1970's when they were arguably the best non-league side in the country. They had many ex Port Vale players in their squad. Their keeper Aleksic went to Spurs. Like us they won 2 of their 3 Wembley visits. Like us they failed to get past the "old pals act" into the Football League.

AND like us they've sunk to the lowest level in their history.....and they've stayed there.

We need to make that we don't share that last similarity.

.....for Skelmersdale United. Which only goes to show that once a career begins to decline it can easily go into freefall.

What a silly bunt.

Very surprised to another rb playing.

We've lost two full backs in Brownhill and Wright, I don't think it's that surprising!

Wright is a winger.
Primarily, but he can play full back, and did so in one friendly.

Hulme will obviously join that list pretty soon, and Sheridan has hit the woodwork more than once. Interesting we've scored so many without a central defender hitting the target.

Has the zoom not been invented in wales???
Most of our fans at Rhyl looked well zoomed to me  ;)

top of Acacia Avenue every time for me. 3 mins was from ground and easy access onto Hale Rd after the game. Plus, being an Iron Maiden fan, Acacia Avenue will always have a special place in my heart - especially no 22 :)
Once you turn left onto Hale Road, you can easily Run to the Hills.

Deserved win. Hanigann underhit back pass in first minute for the first and a Thompson handling error for 2nd.

Good performance from most of the 18. Hanigann did well after the error for the next 44 and will be vital for the season.

Unconvinced by either keeper.

Think BPA will in a relegation dog fight, lots of experience but lack of quality

Think they had a couple of trialists involved today but they didn't look great. How fat was Nicky Clee btw?!!

Has he taken over Twiss's contract with Holland's Pies ?

My late ex-wife and I were regular Saturday nighters at the old Red Robin. I remember winning a good few prizes on the tombola (run by Bernard Taylor), including the Beatles' white album. The cabaret included some decent comics (though Little and Large were dire !)  and the compere was a guy called Colin McGregor who managed Peter Swales's shop in Heald Green. Could hold a tune but had a limited repertoire. I lost count of the number of times we got "On a Wonderful Day Like Today".

One night Johnny Worth and a mate of his shared our table. He must have apologised to us a dozen times for using the "f" word, but he was a nice guy and great company.

To judge from last season's mid table finish, investment in AFC Tubize hasn't been a great help on the field.

"Land on and around the site of the Card's Kingfield Stadium may well provide development opportunities". We're in "be careful what you wish for" territory here.

IF we go up this year, the season would have been enjoyable compared to the misery of the last two. So yes, I can understand why people are looking forward to the prospect of it.
There is nothing enjoyable about seeing the club languish in the evostick league, even if we were to win every game. Its an embarrassment

I guess its all about how you view the club? Small time views like yours are part of the reason we got into this mess in the first place. No doubt your pro Rowley and think we've been punching above our weight for years as well

Yet again you've missed the point. You make a habit of it.

The fact of our lowly status can't be ignored, but it's the prospect of NOT languishing at that level, and then continuing to progress, which encourages the more sane among us. I actually feel optimistic, and that's rare for me !

I think this squad is good enough to get us up. Possibly good enough to compete in National North.

Over the next 18 months we will still need to strengthen to have any chance of survival in National Premier, where most teams will present a similar challenge to Wrexham.
