My heartfelt thanks to all of you who came on Tuesday, many of you from far away. Special thanks to Ecky who, despite his own problems, gave Martin a fine eulogy.
Shortly beforehand, Pete Foster gave me a condolence card, signed by the players, and with over £100 enclosed. I donated it to the hospice. If anybody is in any doubt what makes our club truly special, this said it all for me.

Thanks for unearthing this Barry. I remember Martin and I having a lively debate on his choice of Paul Showler ahead of Barry Howard. In retrospect he was probably right !

If Tom Peers could convert even half the chances he gets he'd be a top striker. His off the ball play is actually very good, but his finishing is poor. He could have had 4 or 5 at Halesowen. In my nightmares I still see that miss at Blyth.

It's probably an age thing....One point from the last nine games, out of the FA Cup, and if Bradford get a result at Gloucester and/or Blyth do what they did to Chester last season (please !) then Curzon will be in the relegation zone. I'm sure Flanagan hasn't become a bad manager overnight, but you can fully understand the thinking in the boardroom.How are our last few results? Curzon manager is in trouble.I get that modern football is results-based, but the guy got them to the playoff final and won the Trophy final last season for Christ's sake.Alas, you're only as good as your last few results these days - see also Peter Beadle at Hereford last year.
I do however expect our results will improve though.
On the face of it, seemed mad for Curzon to sack Flanagan - but we don't have the benefit of knowing what happens internally (fall-out, internal backfill due to cost-cutting, etc etc).
I would imagine our own team have plenty of credit in the bank just yet, although as we know, football can change very quickly.

The last ditch penalty shout was in the "I've seen them given" category for me, largely because it was two-footed and from behind. However, the ball was won and he wasn't "out of control". Another ref, another day....
I felt Harrop should have hit it first time to be quite honest. We simply don't have enough shots on goal these days - maybe we should have brought on Lewis Archer on to see what he could do.

Martin's funeral is at the chapel in Altrincham Crematorium on Tuesday 22nd.October at 1245, following which he will be laid to rest beside his mother at Dunham Lawn.
