I was talking to a guy on the train back to London whose last three away matches were Pompey, Colchester and the 6-1 defeat at Burnley in 1982.  Ouch three times
Find out who he is and ban him - he's a jinx !

It's tempting to think of the CSC as irrelevant, but it has an important role to play in giving game time to players who don't get a regular start. A great opportunity for our youngsters to catch the eye too. Here's hoping we can progress - I'll follow it on RR. My old bones feel the cold much more nowadays !

Brilliant Bill. I was proud to be Alty on Saturday, more so than any time in recent years.

I'd rather be playing Bradford next week than one of the teams from the other end of the league. We just need to get two or three wins together and we'll be re-focussed on the playoffs. I can't see us catching York but All the top teams are beatable if we can get ourselves to that end of the table.
If we don't catch York, we could be looking at 3rd, since Kings Lynn are top, and, on what I saw at their place, are a better side. However, their squad appears to be short of depth, and injury to Marriott and/or Gash could be a problem.

I agree,  I don't get to many games living down south but that is the best game I've seen williams play for us by a million miles, I thought he was brilliant today

I was very surprised when he was subbed.

A true Altrincham legend. Not the most technically gifted full back we ever had, but he compensated for that with a stubborn refusal to give second best to any opponent. He could drive you mad with his occasional tendency to mess around with the ball on the edge of his own penalty area, but if he lost the ball it was odds- on he'd get it back. I've so many memories of him, most of them positive. RIP Stan.

Dual registered with Dudley Town or someone. He will never play for us.

So what you're saying is: Mr Archer failed to hit the mark and shot off down South.

Perhaps he was finding it an 'arrowing experience being in the frozen North. He may yet return to make his how at a later stage.

Still regionalised means Southport or Chester away is nailed on! Would be lovely to get Trafford or Atherton Colls though.

Trafford aren't in it.

Indeed - without them we'd be struggling.

only just picked up on this..I agree with most of the comments above.

Couple of thoughts...its a tough job being any non-league chairman...limited budgets, high degree of local public exposure, expectations that are understandable very high, but also very hard to achieve on those budgets. And attracting investment is tough, because in truth non-league football isn't a great investment in the traditional sense so you are looking for people investing into a subset of the local community rather than investing to make the more normal financial returns.

Also, better the devil you know. Sure he made mistakes (few people in that job wouldn't), but lets see who we get to replace him. Look what happened to Macc, Vics to namer but 2.

I'm afraid you've managed to produce the perfect filter on the story

And that filter is clogged, and not fit for purpose.

The FA competitions draw algorithm will surely generate a trip to Chester, Southport or Stockport County.
Indeed. Next two rounds will probably take us to Southport and Chester, in that order. Hopefully Stockport will have been knocked out by then.

Relieved to be proved wrong, especially if it wiped the smug grin off Durrell's face. Of course, since it's written in the stars that we play the same clubs in both Cup and Trophy, we can look forward to visiting Chester yet again after their win at Brackley.

Boston United can't look forward at all after losing at Atherton Collieries  :D

It could work out cheaper to fly abroad and watch it there 😆

Not sure of this but maybe you can watch it here via a stream ?

Or alternatively you can actually go to the game and enjoy the atmosphere.

For those interested,  I got the chance to write about this and diss Neil Young in the process

Nice dig at our "much missed" former manager  ;)
