Altrincham FC First Team / Re: RIP Ray
« on: December 15, 2024, 10:02:36 PM »
Ray was a lovely guy, and one of our most dedicated supporters.

I remember standing with him at Worcester City for an FA Trophy game, where Duncan Watmore produced an astounding run down the right before crossing the ball to Simon Richman who literally couldn't miss.

We turned to each other and simultaneously said "What a piece of skill!" I will cherish that memory.

RIP Ray, you will be sadly missed by all of us who were privileged to know you.

Altrincham FC First Team / The Curse of a Forthcoming Match with Alty

I've lost count of how many times we've faced a club who've just sacked their manager - maybe it's the prospect of facing the Mighty Robins that drives the Board of our next opponents into a blind panic.

So I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that Woking have joined that list a week before we travel to Surrey.

Scored again today - which means he's Cup tied in the FA Trophy, suggesting that there are no plans to involve him in the foreseeable.

As well as we played, we should note that Lucy Letby had a better defence than Fylde. I'm not sure that a two week break is what we really need right now.

Kick off 1505. Heed arrived late
Isn't that the normal ko time?😁

It's usually about 1503. It's never 1500.

Unfortunately Ryan is up before the beak again.

What has he  allegedly done this time for goodness sake?

GBH apparently.

If he's found guilty I can see Chesterfield being a winger short for some time.

It was my late father's contention that no professional footballer should EVER fail to score a penalty. A bit optimistic perhaps, but I'd certainly expect better than a 25% success rate.

Olson got MotM from the sponsors. Not sure that was the best choice, but hard to pick out any other stand-outs and taking into account he must hardly have trained alongside Jones, Golden and Banks, maybe a deserved award. Thoughts anyone ?

He impressed me, particularly in the way he always made himself available to receive the ball and move it on. There were precious few other candidates for the award.

Honestly, the history books are due for an upset. We've not been to the first round for 3 years and Solihull have been in the hat for the first round 8 years in a row.

Expecting to see Osbourne and Wilson in the middle of midfield.

There is no deserving a run in the FA Cup, there is earning one. But I also think this squad is more than capable of earning a run...
Plus if we're really lucky all we need to do is draw Birmingham in the next round away and we've cut out two games and still got the gate money.

Didn't Crawford go off injured last night? Unsure if Bickerstaff can play, and also if Humbles has gone back to Salford yet.

I'm not sure that Bickerstaff hasn't gone back to Wales.

Are the rumours true that there are stewards positioned outside the J Davidson Stadium this evening in order to throw any passers-by into the ground?

There is apparently a press gang working the local hostelries.....

If we continue to win two and lose one of every three games we'll be fine! 👍

Win two, lose one - joy unconfined.
Win one, lose two - utter despair.

I've considered the likes of Dave Furnivall and Darren Royle, but I have to say that Joe Nuttall is the poorest striker I've ever seen in an Alty shirt.

If the rumour of Nuttall's departure on another thread is correct, maybe we should sort out a deal for 45 year old two goal Kev!

Next, they'll be paying us to attend 🤣

It would need to be enough to get bladdered on, otherwise I might actually have to watch the so called match.
