Altrincham FC First Team / Eastleigh match thread
« on: March 10, 2022, 08:45:39 AM »
Eastleigh won 4-1 against Wealdstone last Saturday. It was their first win for two months, since beating Weymouth 3-2.

They haven't won away since November 23rd when getting a 1-0 result at Dagenham.

They're not exactly a pushover though, as a recent narrow 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood indicates.

I wouldn't make any changes to the winning line-up from Tuesday, although if Harry Perritt isn't 100% Andy White was impressive when he came on and deserves to come back in.

It's tempting to look at their recent league record of only one win in their last six games, and think they're in poor form, but the three defeats have come against Stockport, Chesterfield, and Halifax - so maybe not. It would be great to complete a double over them after our 3-2 win at their place, but we'll really need to be at the top of our game to achieve that.

I don't want to alarm anybody, but Moors striker Andrew Dallas has scored 8 goals in their last 2 games. The whole Alty team has scored the same total in their last TEN games. If Kennedy Donkey plays on Saturday we're in deep in the brown and pungent.

Altrincham FC First Team / Grimsby Town match thread

Our appalling recent record of 8 points from the last 39 available is statistically better than Grimsby's 4 points from the last 27 - so why am I convinced they'll dick us ? It's not a good time to be an Alty fan.

I think we're good enough to stay up, but next season could be quite another story.

Altrincham FC First Team / LIVE STREAMING
« on: January 02, 2022, 10:56:51 PM »
We can't rule out the eventual possibility of finishing the season behind closed doors. Last season's temporary relaxation of the rules with a cost less than standard admission worked quite well.

The rules against live streaming are there to protect clubs from loss of revenue. But what if they could actually GAIN revenue from such an arrangement ?

Wrexham sold out their allocation, but I'm prepared to bet a lot of their fans would have paid a premium to watch the game and not have to travel.

I'd happily pay extra to watch matches streamed from down South, because my dodgy back won't stand hours on a coach. Am I alone ? What do others think ?

Altrincham FC First Team / The elephant in the room
« on: December 28, 2021, 05:25:20 PM »
We're all convinced that relegation isn't a threat. However, while Dover and Kings Lynn look a good bet to go, that third drop slot is occupied by Weymouth, who are only 10 points behind us with 2 games in hand. Of the six teams between us and them, five have 2 games hand. We've only picked up 7 points from our last 11 league games, 3 of them from one match.

I still think we're "too good to go down" but it wouldn't be the first time we've imploded after a decent start to the season.

I honestly believe we could be back in National North unless this culture of losing is stopped very quickly. There are two important areas to address :

1. We need somebody to put away the chances we create.

2. We must address the regular concession of goals from set pieces.

Come on lads - for God's sake prove me wrong.

This is scheduled as an evening fixture on Tuesday February 22nd.

Since we're both out of the FA Trophy, I wonder if they'd fancy switching it to Saturday January 15th ?

Gone on loan to FC United "to get match fit." I hope this isn't another Sean Williams move....
