Ok. When the conference \ non league is full of clubs with no history but good fan bases due to AFC this and FC that we'll continue this debate when we are somewhere down the pyramid due to those clubs and their wonderful fans.

Blackburn still exist, Manchester United still exist, both playing at high levels.. .Although wait .... FC United was started when it was a little quiet at OT and Blackburn are hardly lighting up the league (mind they are where they should be)... Its not like these clubs have been rundown, relegated and have no future.

For me fans expect too much now and want success when realistically its not as easy as that.

And I would not help form an AFC Altrincham if someone I did not like was running the club, Altrincham FC would still be there with ITS history. You start again then you lose all that.

AFC Wimbledon is completely different to me cos they DID lose their club, its name and where it plays so were keeping a club in the area so WELL DONE TO THEM FOR THAT.

PS: American Leprechaun as you put it brought success back to Man U after a little lull and has hardly stopped Sir Taggart spending money ? Infact haven't they spent a fair bit this summer plus they agreed to Mr Rooneys very high wage demands even when he was playing poorly ? I just see it as pointless when the club still exists, cos FC United fans will still  support Man U and Blackburn fans will still go all Ewood Park if successful times return. Seems all self important and attention seeking to me.

How about 'Thisisgettingtediousnowforfanswhostickbytheirclubnomatterwhat FC

FC this, AFC that .... For gods sake either stick with your club (no matter what, ie when winning championship or not) or just support another local club. Its not the club you claimed you supported when you start the new one anyway so why not support an already established one?

If your club dies (like Rushden, Wrexham to come and alike) then I am all for it so you do not lose a football club in your area but just starting one when the other club exists then it just makes me think of self important fans who buy into Supporters Direct and help them make money.

I just think its the boring option now for too many fans when they don't agree with something.

He probably feels nothing in his wallet.

Alty getting the last laugh for as long as I can remember .....

I know I always laughed and said "You'll all be watching Kettering soon" when we used to play them but I did not expect them to actually have to not move from their seats to do that.

I only hope that Kettering find the place too big sustain and struggle into nothingness.

Is Sammy Mac going to make an appearance, ambulance chasing t*at.

Echo the comments so far.

A day I will never forget for a player and more importantly a man I have huge respect and admiration for.

ONE MARK MADDOX....

Thanks for posting, and well done with your PC skills in doing it .. ha ha

There was some police presence for Mads Testimonial (mind suppose a lot of scousers in one place ... he he) but did that deter anyone from staying for the match, I would hope not ?

From reading comments from various websites it was 6 of one and half a dozen of the other and it was between two sets who 'fancied it'... Remember a few years a go when we played Millwall?, that went ok and they have an 'interesting' history of violence.

Don't ever let incidents between other clubs stop you going football, cos if that was the case you could find reasons to not go to practically every match... Bishop Auckland would be crossed off the list first of course, which is not a bad thing !  ;)

He played better, but is a long way off earning the right to wear the shirt

If he was on trial today *which I bet he feels like he is every game at Alty now" then he would be a player I would want to look at again as easily did enough for a recall. That to me means that he did nothing wrong and with fresh eyes and new opinions should be given praise for his performance.

Don't get me wrong there have been players I have had little time for and I have slagged off but I have always been fair and praised said players if needs be. I am not saying Twiss reads the forum but if he did, with some of the things wrote even when he has tried then I would think "F you lot, I won't bother then"

As someone who has not watched Twiss for a while I would like to say that yesterday he looked good and did nothing wrong.

He wanted the ball always and held it up well. Made some good runs and looked fitter than I have seen him in the past.

I heard people heckling at the match and was half tempted to introduce Jay Gallagher to him so he could discuss what it was like to be blamed for everything.

I wish people could start a clean slate with him cos I believe, from what I saw yesterday that he IS trying and would be of benefit if the Conference North..

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The kick-off and Clee's second goal
« on: July 24, 2011, 01:26:36 PM »
I can't imagine what was going through Mad Dogs head when he kicked off and then got that ovation. We, as fans behind the goal weren't quite sure what to do, hence why probably the most quiet we've been before a kick off and then the singing as he walked off.

The man is a LEGEND and this was shown by the amount of fans and more importantly the past players turned up. For people he has played with to turn up in such numbers shows how much he is thought of.

I have never seen the bar so full after a match (including after last game of seasons) and it just shows how much people wanted to say for the man and support this event.

I hope he wakes up today and this gives him a massive boost and helps him from now on. Altrincham Football Club and its supporters showed what a well run and thoughtful club we have.

MARK MADDOX IS A LEGEND AND I HOPE HE ENJOYED SEEING HIS PAST TEAM MATES, FANS AND PEOPLE OF ALTRINCHAM. Cos I enjoyed the chance to see \ talk to him.

WHO LET MAD DOG OUT ..... Cos I am glad they did :)
