Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The future of this forum

It would be a shame as I remember when this forum was used by about 5 people when first started in its original beginnings and it grew to this.

Reading through some of the posts it's embarrassing & surprised there is not fighting in the ground between everyone.

The only word needed is RESPECT. Have an opinion without personal abuse.

I have no problems to keep paying for the forum.

My issue is I will not if it's hurting the club or tearing the fan base apart

This was created as a positive place and it seems that it's anything but that now.
I am all for freedom of speech but not for personal abuse that can only harm relationships within the club.
who has complained Gary? The club, not much free speech about these days - thats whats damaging the club

You may as well shut this forum down, I know many who can't be bothered posting now

I also know many who can't be bothered posting, but that's because this forum is just full of old blokes moaning amongst themselves or about daft things like the club denying fans their freedom of speech.

The place is a ghost town when we're doing well. Positive, constructive ideas and threads get shot down, ignored or half heartedly read.

Only like three of our group post on here. Says a lot considering there's over a dozen us, who for the most part go home and away. Most of them read it but can't be arsed and its completely understandable to be honest.

Again, a Facebook group is the way forward should the forum meet its end. Its a way of engaging with the younger fans who will never post on here. They all live their lives through social media.

No it's no about freedom of speech being revoked it's about respecting other users. It's not the club as this has nothing to do with it directly.

It's users who have reported links, which I get emailed on. This to me is worrying.

The forum is mainly run by users for users & I will be ruthless with banning people if it's at the request of the majority. (Something we rare,t do)

Let's all just have a think about others before posting

Altrincham FC First Team / PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT REF: FORUM & USERS
« on: August 30, 2016, 12:56:44 PM »
Right my emails have been clogged with complaints about the forum

When the forum was first started all those years ago it was a great place to help IMPROVE the club.

The bucket collections came from people volunteering through the forum, we helped create an Internet player of the season & was seen as a positive presence for fans & club.

Currently the club is struggling but rather than name calling and trouble making why can't people try and work together.

I still pay for the forum whilst others kindly moderate it. The only problem we used to have was opposing fans but now seems that we are imploding from within.

Can we please think how your words / actions can affect the bigger future of the forum, other fans and the club.

Thank you. I will be monitoring carefully,

Altrincham FC First Team / www.altyfans.co.uk registered for two more years
« on: February 24, 2016, 02:42:55 PM »
after my little outburst a while a go I would like to confirm I have paid the bill for www.altyfans.co.uk to be registered for the next two years.

I will also continue to pay the rolling fee for the SQL server (as I have been doing).

Maybe its a case of you can take the lad out of Alty, but cant take Alty out of the lad !

Too many top quality lads and lasses support the club and use the forum for it to go.

and hows this for scary.. and to make Ecky feel old, it'll be 10yrs in September since this "new look" forum started !

After a recent chat with someone I have decided after putting over £500 of my own money since 2006 to keep the forum going I am going to let someone else do it.

Email me: gazwarrington@hotmail.com if you want to take over the domain name and SQL Server. SQL Server is £10.68 every 3 months and the domain www.altyfans.co.uk needs re-registering in February 2016, i think usually around £20-30 for the 2yrs.

I will amend everything to someone else's details so will need address details before I can pass over all the master details for both sections to make sure I am totally away from it all & no more bills come to me for it.

Please email me. gazwarrington@hotmail.com if you are interested.

Thanks

Gary

All updates worked. I did it at around 2am ... See thinking of the people.. ha ha

Should run a little smoother plus if the forum goes down cos the SQL server loses connection again then an error messages should come up on the screen to show this and then it can be looked into.

Ive always been in the background watching and listening .....
