Assuming it's additional immediate financial backing for the first team squad that should be very good news, although I do have a slight fear it means we will sign even more young untested loanees.

I will be there on Saturday whatever, and will look forward to seeing what the next few days bring.

It was an oddly entertaining or exciting game, but I could see why the two sides were the bottom two.
Yes, as others have said, Kaja deserves a longer run if not a start, while Byrne looked very solid in goal.

PS Does anybody have any idea what are strongest XI is? I am sure I don't.

If the reason for postponing the football was because they thought Celtic and Liverpool wouldn't respect the protocol, then that is a poor show. If Celtic and Liverpool didn't want to pay their respects then that is up to them. To deny the majority of football supporters to pay their respects then that is lack of respect from the FA.
Poor comment, sorry. What on earth have have Celtic got to do with the FA?
I think the FA's move is more to do with fear of the right wing media who would crucify football for playing while ignoring rugby union etc.

Maybe get there early, if this bumper crowds theory is true?

Incidentally, the BBC text service still has "Cymru Premier" matches as taking place tomorrow. I assume this is another glitch, as Flint Town United v. Aberystwyth Town was off tonight.

Sale's RUFC game was moved from Friday to Saturday, so it's possible that the rest of the fixtures may still be on.
The FA of Wales were slightly later than the other "home nations," but all football in Wales is off this weekend. Just checking now, the BBC website has caught up with this (I don't use text in 2022!).

The authorities have stressed there is no protocol on the matter (rugby still going ahead as far as I understand).

Massive own goal by the National League as usual - as insensitive as it may sound, would have been a great chance to boost attendances across non-league for the day.

It was out of the National League's hands. The FA have called off football at all levels, including grassroots, over the weekend.
It was an over the top decision, I agree.

I think that's pretty likely. The EFL games tomorrow (Friday) have already been called off, and a decision will be made on Friday for the rest  of the weekend's EFL games after a review of the official mourning guidelines and a consultation with the DCMS.

I would have thought when they designed the FT model for the club then they would have factored in moneys for paid off field staff. To have a paid staff off the field as well as on it would ensure the right people are in the right job. That way you get staff who will be there when needed rather than somebody who has other commitments to work around.

I’m not saying that our army of volunteers do not do a good job, however, professional on the the pitch should be matched by professional off the pitch.

That's well said, and very diplomatically put, too.

It's very difficult and expensive, though, and I can understand how the initial aim is to get a full-time squad, rather than a mix of full-time and part-time, and then hope and plan that other developments build up  from that.

Yes, it was difficult to tell the players of the two teams apart from a distance; it would have been a lot easier if Yeovil had worn their proper green rather than that sickly pink and purple stripes combination.

Kaja's well judged header at the death does keep us out of what would have been a terrible position. Once again, though, it does seem that we don't take advantage of the spells in a game when we do dominate, either side of half time today, and instead tend to pass it once or more too often.

The timing of the equalising goal makes it feel like a win, well nearly like a win,  and hopefully we may be able to build on this.

I know that Mee makes a hash of things for Maidenhead's opening goal but what on earth was that bizarre backpass all about?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd96SPx4eyg

Yes, as I had said earlier, it was very unfortunate at the start of Mee's first game, but, as the ball seemed to come completely out of the blue, I  hadn't realised live that it was actually some sort of backpass.

Well, that was pretty poor if I’m honest. Ponderous and timid in possession, no flexibility, some positional changes that didn’t work and gifted them two goals.

It’s not the time to panic or get too down about it but we’ve got to take the bull by the horns and get serious now. Sort the goal keeper situation, tell Barrows to get fit, sign at least two more adults who’ve played football and get aggressive in the final third.

We’ve essentially done the same passing over and over again and expected a different result. Insanity?

Baines held up well, we didn’t look too threatened by them but it was like a training ground game. Need to crack on now.

Good post.  It's very unfortunate that Dermot Mee's first significant contribution was to make a mistake which led to a goal, but that was the case, and his team-mates therefore have that worrying lack of confidence in him.

We actually had two strikers on for a time tonight, but stiil seem to be prone to pass it around the circle that one time too often, trying to find the perfect opportunity rather than have a go at goal.

The players aren't suddenly bad players though, so we can turn this around, starting against a Yeovil Town team who have had a worse start than us.

Who will be in goal on  Tuesday against a Maidenhead team who got a very good result today? Hopefully, Ollie Byrne's clearance will be expedited, but I am not sure if we would plunge Ryan Forde straight in, if not, and may instead go for a loan signing.

JH in the net, Dinanga up front. Sorted!
I’ve seen Jordan carrying three pints in the CSH and not spilling a drop. Steady pair of hands and a well known goalkeeper training routine.
I must say he did nothing wrong - apart from getting booked by the referee for time-wasting immediately after he had told him to stop wasting time.

There isn’t a goalie alive that isn’t adept at time wasting. Jordon was probably just doing a Tony Thompson

Ah, but a regular goalie like Tony Thompson has the skills to make the time-wasting look a bit less obvious.

One of the features of the game is that Charles-Cook was busier than Gould and Hulme put together., and had to make some good saves We were the better team until Matt Gould's unfortunate injury, and then end up being very happy to get a point, although we still had chances late on.

I can remember my one visit to Rylands, as they were then called, for football, was around 1989. when I saw our reserves, featuring Barry Diamond, play there in the Mid-Cheshire League.  They had a bit of cover, but I remember having to stoop to fit under the roof. I am quite tall, to be fair, but not that tall!

There was a much larger crowd watching the rugby league section. TImes have clearly changed since then, but Warrington Rylands still haven't attracted much interest from the Warrington public, despite Stretford's money. In contrast, Town's crowds do seem to have slowly but surely increased over the years.

Without venturing into the fraught ground of managerial appointments in the last decade, I tend to agree.

The thing is to keep long standing supporters on board as well, and not just to dismiss concerns with a glib statement such as "times move on" (not aimed at anyone in particular).  Bill does have his own personal  long standing commitment to the club, and I noticed that he did  walk down and "have a word" with the new stewards on Saturday, after which the far third of the Popular Side was opened.

I think what I am saying is there might be one or two more awkward moments, or growing pains, if you like, but there is enough knowledge of the history and spirit of the club on the board, that we should be able to retain all supporters, while being sensitive to their concerns.
