Altrincham FC First Team / Discipline
« on: December 12, 2022, 12:00:47 AM »
I notice that, for the 2nd game running, we have not had a single booking.
This can't be something that happens very often and, I think, shows great discipline in the team's conduct and in the nature of the play.

However, we have also given away a few disappointing goals, so I ask: is it all good discipline, or is there, maybe, a little naivety sometimes in that there are times when we might need to be a little more cynical?

JD, set up a radio Robins chat room FB page, I would if I knew how to

I'll have a go, but I'm rather clueless on these technology things myself.

Delighted Jennings is staying. I don't think it is coincidence the 3 behind him (7, 10 and 11) are scoring more goals for the team.

"Unfriend"? Dreadful term. What's wrong with "fall out with" (although admittedly that would be the nuclear option - and ends with a preposition!). And that Pets In A pickle ad - I keep thinking they're going to add "and brown sauce". Ugh!

Speaking of ads: perfume ads!!!

Pretentious, meaningless crap!

"Because you're worth it"; "The sciency bit" - argh!

The ad for Marc Jacobs "Daisy" appears to be aimed at paedophiles.

That one really is weird...reminds me of a trans colleague called Daisy whomlooks like my ex wife (which is not a good thing!)

Back in the day a popular quiz question was  " who is Edson Arantes Do Nascimento better known as " . It is of course the great man himself  .Best wishes to one of the all time icons of Sport.
Ah yes....the old 'real names' classic quiz round.....

Marion Morrison
Archibald Leach
Doris Kapelhoff.....all spring to mind

Shirley Crabtree
Maurice Mickelwhite

Speaking of the shop: we keep running out of XXXL clothes (raincoat and zipped hoodie for instance)

An availability and overeating issue!

I should add that Yeovil midfielder Charlie Wakefield has released a documentary covering mental health issues called Man Up, inspired by the death of his uncle but also covering the tragic death of Town captain Lee Collins before their scheduled match with us in March 2021. A very important issue.

Indeed.

Tragic news about the fan

I got on it earlier, though I admit it did take a couple of attempts to get on it the previous week.

I smell poop!

Why couldn't they play a reserve team or give a youth team some experience?

Hale Barnes United were THE team when I was a lad. One of my junior school mates, Alan Richardson played for them.

JD, was Alan Richardson a builder in Hale Barns? Or more accurately, was his Dad a builder?

I played for Melrose Wanderers and we would lose every game heavily - unless we played Partington, when we usually won. Melrose Wanderers were based at Halecroft Park.

I lost touch after junior school, but I remember his older brother was an Ian, so could be!
