Altrincham FC First Team / Re: He is getting it so wrong

Not sure what we were trying to do last night. I couldn't see a plan and once they scored our heads went down and we looked out of ideas.

We are creeping towards a relegation battle here if not already in it. Something has to change very soon.

Assuming Marriott will still be out... surely Hampson is close to return?

TT

Morgan
Hampson
Mullarkey
Hannigan

DM Furman
CM Osborne

LW Colclough
RW Mooney or Kossy
No.10 Pringle ( derserves his chance )
Hulme

Subs
Kossy / White / Hancock / Leitch-Smith & Moult

Id go with this. Argument for Digie over Mularkey who I have thought has looked a bit out of his depth the last few months.

Mooney fades too quickly when he starts so I would go with Kosylo and bring Mooney on if we are a goal down.

Need to be much more positive and just have a go at them. Grimsby appear to be sh*t too. Going for a grim 1-1 draw.

I don't think we had anyone at the back did we?

Disappointed that we've given Stockport the end of the pop side. It changes the game in the first half if we're down there. We've waited so long with the ground restrictions to be down there, it's a real kick in the teeth.

2 arguments to it. It does give them an advantage due to extra numbers and ability to be louder. However we would unlikely sell out if the home fans had that section too. So.from a financial point of view it makes sense

Just had a look in the OT. Crikey. I think I'll stay in here thanks but will say a couple of things.

Firstly Hugh, you understand it's a RESPIRATORY VIRUS... right? Can you understand that much? The tennis lad was more likely to be suffering longer term effects of COVID than adverse effects to the vaccine. If he got Omicron in early December then I'm sure he'll be suffering to exercise like I am - this stuff is serious.

So the vaccines don't work, right?

Let's break the scientific reports into footballing analogy (fair play to Amsterdam Alty for trying).

Being vaccinated is like United having De Gea in goal against City, rather than the youth goalie. You might still lose, but it will be 2-0 instead of 5-0. Hey, if you're lucky you might keep a clean sheet. But it's better than sticking in a youth goalie and hoping for the best.

Secondly, quoting Joey Barton as a voice of reason isn't quite the 'gotcha' you think it is  ;D

Didn't know there was an Other topics section here. Nore will I ever visit that again after the nonsense I have just read.

Hoping for a Striker to be announced tonight. I assume it is Hulme which is a good option that should stop the rot. On a downer though I would have liked us to go for someone younger and new. Carver or Charman would have been good shouts, although I suspect Charman would be out of our reach with some of the attention he has been getting.

Caldwell to Chesterfield all but officially announced. They must now have someone worth having on loan. Must have a starting 11 of strikers over there now

Postponed. Never mind.

You are possibly right over Digie - like I said, he has done okay and I suspect the real problem at the moment is the lack of steel in midfield.

However, there must be a reason we are conceding from so many set pieces. Both Mullarky and Hannigan are quality centre backs (and not exactly small) - is it just poor coaching? I don't know.

At least I suspect the striker situation is about to be hopefully resolved.

Individually they are good players and individually don't make many mistakes. So it has to be down to coaching or the systems we use to defend.

A good shopping list would be;
1) another tall centre back (Digie is ok but I'd prefer a better footballer like Sass-Davies).
2) yes, a horrible, mobile midfielder definitely (that has been very obvious this week).
3) a centre forward who can look after themselves and at least make the opposing centre halves feel they've been in a game.

Not easily attainable, but these 3 players would completely alter our fortunes.

Think that's harsh on Digie. Looked decent and can't think of a time he gave the ball away against Wrexham. We have missed a big strong brute in defense for some time. I would say a left back is a must. Fitzpatrick isn't good enough and Hampson is only fit for half the season.

A centre forward is a must and we need to get it right, whether its Hulme or someone we have never heard of it has to be right this time.

Genuine question.
Do we have transfer windows in the National?

I think we do. If they are coming from another conference or league side anyway. Don't think it applies at the level below. Could be wrong though.

If we get 7 points from those three games I'll be surprised.
Utterly delighted but surprised.

We have already seen what Torquay are about, Barnet are clearly nothing special. If we get the ball down we can beat Torquay and get a point at Barnet. We should be beating Kings Lynn. No reason why we shouldn't be getting 7 points.

Need to get county out the way and just take whatever we get. Barnet, Kings Lynn and Torquay after that. We need to be picking up 7 points from those 3 to get us back on track.

We need to let the Jordan Hulme thing go.

Ian Henderson is quite an interesting short-term shout - I watched him a lot at Rochdale and hadn't realised he'd fallen down the pecking order at Salford (assuming that's what's happened given their recruitment policy). Lives locally, looks after himself and quite mobile, would probably be closer to what we've missed in Jordan than other options so far.
spot on . We need to focus on realistic targets . Chris senior for example . Never mentioned on here . Frustrating me

I believe Chris Senior is full time at Darlington. So doubt we could get him. What about Chris Denham?

Statement now on the club site. I'd already decided not to go on Saturday, but if metal detector body searches by our friendly new stewards are to become the norm, then I'll be giving up attending games. It's not my idea of a match day experience, and I may watch my games further down the pyramid in future.

Don't be so daft. Body searches and bag searches are common at most grounds at this level and above these days. Way the world is. You don't stop supporting your club because of it.
