Yeah, the pitch & the forecast no doubt a big concern. Plus side is it’s over 2 weeks since we last had a home match & I believe we’ve borrowed some heat lamps off Stoke for the especially dodgy patch in front of the main stand. The forecast tomorrow well known & we’ve had time to prepare plus it should stop at least 3-3.5 hrs before KO so gives us some time to work on it.
As part of the pitch crew, Stoke haven’t lent us any lamps.
Who told you they have ?

We have rightly cricised other clubs for calling games off late and for what happened at Halifax on NYD, but we're clearly not much better, even more so when we are playing a team from some distance away. You would assume Bromley travelled up yesterday, but when you know their fans would be having an early start, surely you would have procedures in place to have an early inspection if required. Bit of a shambles.

TBF Halifax after stating earlier in the day that there would be no need for a pitch inspection then gave out zero information on their official channels for 5 hours & only confirmed it was on 40 minutes before KO & that KO was being put back by 15 minutes. I know it’s no defence for their 30 or so Bromley fans who will have come up today but the rain from about 9-10 round here this morning was spectacular so a 0900 pitch inspection wouldn’t have been much use anyway. This is the first time too tbf that I can think our relaid pitch has let us down. I feel for Bromley but don’t quite agree with all the FUME I’m seeing on the Twitter.

Thats a very fair assesment Sarf London - I was at the ground before 10 and concern had set in after the deluge - Kiosk catering waited until 11am where we had to make a go / no go decision on starting to prep and cook for the game, knowing there was a pitch inspection at 12:30, we optimistically went for on, but it wasnt to be :-(

Wait - you knew there was going to be a 12.30 pitch inspection from 11AM. Not down to you, but why on earth was the possibility of an inspection not announced until 12? It wouldn't have helped the travelling Bromley fans, but I know some "semi-local" fans had wasted journeys, and could have made their own judgements earlier, and at least held on a bit longer before commencing a journey.

As a volunteer, Who got an early morning call to to get out of bed to try and get the game on and Bromley had arrived the night before, we did our best. The ref at 12-30 said no.
Just speaking for myself. The forecast said 8mm last night, but we got 16mm, most of it was at 9am this morning, you can’t go to Tesco and ask a ref to do a pitch inspection.
After some comments made by some on Twitter and this site, I’m thinking of quitting and leaving up to them.
Remember, ALTY wouldn’t survive without volunteers.

Yes, the difference from Boxing Day was that we left the substitutions too late, and they made an immediate difference., but only after Halifax had equalised.

As for the late incident, surely Dinanga was offside anyway (assuming the offside call was correct, which it looked to be), whether or not he touched the ball, as he was clearly in a position where he could score a goal and was therefore interfering with play.

I am delighted with the four points from Halifax over Christmas, I should add.

I don’t think Dinanga was offside.
The Linesman never kept up with play

Apparently the stolen flag has been returned

Was it in person, with an apology Ray?

A very one-sided game that in typical Alty style we failed to win convincingly.

One downside of the evening was the behaviour of some of our supporters - the bunch of kids behind the goal shouting relentless, tedious and crude abuse at the Curzon keeper can perhaps be forgiven due to their age. However, the blokes who nicked the Curzon flag at half time really should have a word with themselves. It’s a shame that the stewards didn’t seem interested when they were pointed out, despite the repeated PA announcements on the subject.
we pay a lot for these stewards now . I hope we are asking for a refund for incompetence

I’m sorry,
We all like a laugh, don’t you think the THIEF  that stole the flag just hand it back ?

I’m all for young people watching Alty and becoming fans, but, tonight some of the younger kids just wanted to run about screaming and shouting not having any interest in the game whatsoever..

Numerous little ones fell over tripping up the steps and one day this will end up with one of them getting seriously hurt.

I’m no kill joy but I do feel a bit of parental control wouldn’t go amiss.

Totally agree Ray.
I actually said, couldn’t believe how many kids tonight were just running about.
No parents in sight.
The number of times the stewards had to tell them to stop leaning on the gates.
If one had fallen through the gates and hurt themselves, God only knows.
Well done to the stewards.
