Nowhere near as funny as travelling 350 miles, paying 14 quid to get in, then shipping 6 goals in 45 minutes. Oh and being wholly owned by a bloke whose track record in business is most 'interesting'.

Yep, hip flask is always a winner. I did that last season at FGR, just as well as that 5-0 really was the lowest of the low last season (on the pitch anyway). I'm sure the bar will be open early doors that day, the Bridge you'd think too.

I agree, off to do a spot of online gambling. Think I'll go to 888.com

Then off to the pub, I do like a game of pool, maybe I can 8 ball someone if I'm very lucky. :D

It was 14 quid i believe Gaz. Much closer to the price Brigton wanted in the end. I believe Connett wanted a ticket price at least EIGHT pound higher.

Altrincham FC First Team / Fixture congestion
« on: November 07, 2006, 11:18:17 PM »
Indulge me, bit bored. Realised between York game (Sunday 5 November) and Northwich (Tuesday 26 December) we have a possible 5 league games (likely to be 4, assuming Burton beat Tamworth in the FA Cup on Satd) . So that's 4 league games in approx 50 days. Then between December 26 and Jan 6, we have 4 league games in 10 days. It's a real bugger the way the fixtures work out sometimes. Only 1 home league game as well (who knows could be none if Crawley go tits up and Burton get to FA Cup 2nd round)between now and xmas is crap for the finances too.

Top of page, main site 'doubtful through injury' is what John Laidlar put re Val and today. Nothing further though. As he wasn't on bench sure it was injury. With Bushell back fit we have a replacement though.

Bit of a gap now until Crawley on the 18/11. I see in today's NLP that HMRC are taking the Majeed's to court on the 15th. It could be Grays on the 25th next.

Good number. Just down from last years 185. In a strange way I think the fact the game is on a Sunday may have put a small number off. Can't really make a weekend of it.

That Radio York commentator is still a complete gimp then.

Altrincham FC First Team / Today's results
« on: November 04, 2006, 06:05:35 PM »
Not too bad, with the teams immediately below us in the table either drawing or losing.

However, Vics and Stafford who are my benchmark for us currently in the table (both similar sized clubs with similar levels of support) are both beginning to pull away a bit. Need something tmrw. I am amazed that Stafford already have 26 points to be honest. Thought they would find it a lot harder. Well done to them.

Indeed, a Stalyvegas legend.

I recall myself a cracking goal that started a comeback fron 0-2 down to 2-2 on a Tuesday night against Nuneaton in November 99. Shame, he MAY have altered the course of Alty history that season if he'd been fit.

Altrincham FC First Team / Connett shoots himself in the foot again
« on: November 01, 2006, 06:01:47 PM »
Interesting reading on Vics forum, seems that the ticket prices for their FA Cup clash at some dilapidated athletics track near Brighton have not been annouced as Brighton want to charge about 12 quid in and Vics are insistent on it being much closer to the normal league price of 22 quid (which given the state of Brighton's ground seems a bit of a pisstake to me in the first place).

Aside from the fact that if it's 22 quid in, there will surely be far fewer people there than if it's 12, so Connett will lose out-even with the increased price, I seem to recall he tried to pull a similar stunt at Sunderland last year. Whenever they get on the national stage he just makes himself and by extension his club look ever so slightly petty.

Charlie Bradshaw-he was world class before the talk of a move to Spurs turned his head-a target man AND a goalscorer, I'm sure fondly remembered by a few.

Carmody while a great servant to the club with a fantastic appearance record just didn't contribute enough goals for me.
