I think, listening to the interview carefully, that what PP said was that Jordan was on the bench because he had played the full 90 minutes at Barnet (he looked absolutely knackered at the end) and didn't come on because he tweaked his groin in the warm up. Just my reading of it. If I can come up with an explanation for Toby being in midfield I'll post it, don't hold your breath though

Was he in goal for the 7-0 debacle at Morecambe?

Tragic news. Such a lovely funny guy who made some very long coach journeys to some dreadful games fly by. RIP Ecky, I guess you've won our game of ill top trumps

The first season of the APL. We of course were champions and Weymouth second.   Somewhat poetic that we come up together!   Who were third?   Boston United!

Worcester were 3rd weren't they?

My Dad used to stand with Mike, Malcolm, Kim and Malcolm Burgess RIP, analysing and reminiscing. Hopefully Mike is describing the last 9 seasons as only he could and Malcolm and my Dad are loving every word. RIP Mike

Really sad news. Like many I didn't know him by name but spoke to him at almost every game. Nice friendly lad, RIP Dave

Not actually true. The last game before Harvey's appointment was an encouraging 2-2 draw with now 3rd placed Chorley. We had also drawn with now 2nd placed Darlington, now 4th placed Halifax and lost narrowly to now 6th placed Kiddy

Steve, I'm the guy who stands behind you with my son. I remember Rob well from the 80s, he was my brother's best man in fact, but he was at least a foot shorter than me! Shame he'd not been for a while, he was a regular for years, but amongst a number of health issues he was on dialysis and I don't think went out much in recent years. RIP, he was a funny guy

Great signing on the face of it. Proper statement of intent

Good luck to him, I hope dropping down a couple of levels helps his confidence and rescues his career. I'm not sure his problem was lack of effort really, I always thought he tried too hard to impress when he came on and just looked a bit desperate

Good luck Kyle, thanks for your efforts. Nice goal to sign off with on Saturday too, or was it a cross?

« on: April 26, 2015, 05:29:12 PM »
I don't think the argument re Kyle Perry has changed from last close season. When he comes on as a sub he rarely lets us down, scores the odd goal, offer something different and occasionally (eg Macc away) completely changes the game. Unfortunately when he does that, he starts the next game and then the question over his fitness and whether he can last 90 mins becomes relevant. He's still a useful player to have on the bench IMHO

3 in my car, 3 in my brother's too I think. Surely we'll manage 100+?

In 1979/80 Macc were actually languishing in the lower regions of the NPL with crowds of a few hundred I think. And were to stay there for a few more years. I went to watch them once when Alty either had no game or were at the end of the Earth somewhere. Not sure which season it was but it was the early 80s,  they were playing South Liverpool and there were about 300 there, all moaning incessantly. Happy Days!
