Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Serious question

I was one of the ones who wanted Jordan back. However, his sustained absence at the end of last season made me wonder.
We are where we are.

It was a signing out of sentiment and desperation.

If you take out the emotion of what we know he was before leaving for Fylde, his goal scoring record for them - in a league lower - was akin to Byron Harrison.

Brilliant performance. The best of the season by a mile and played with a fantastic intensity. That should keep us up now. Time to move onwards

White
Jones
Mudimu
Hanighan
Mullarkey
Cooper
Ferguson
Digie - Out on loan
Sutton - Out on loan
Hall - Out on loan

He’s had some backing has Parky

Wow! 🤯

I think they call it the scattergun approach

Can someone please put the full squad on here? If I knew how to do it I would, it’s not me being lazy lol.

Seems up to date https://www.altrinchamfc.com/teams/first-team

Thank you - I didn’t realise the squad was actually that large, especially in terms of defenders.

How far off is Hannigan?

For the different signings made at cb, Sutton, Digie, Cooper etc our strongest partnership by a mile is Toby and Tom, on the mean time I’d be going with the team at the top of this thread 👍

I must admit, I do find myself somewhere in the middle of the two perspectives given here. We got away with it big time against Woking and the King's Lynn game saw us edge arguably the worst competitive side I've seen at this level. There were some improved individual performances but collectively I really didn't think there was much to write home about. KL were so sh*t. The three points was all that mattered of course.

What I'm saying is we are by no means safe and I did feel some of the comments on here and the Facebook supporters' group were a little too rosy, all things considered. We can't keep relying on Ryan Colclough to get it done for us.

It does sound like we battled well last night and credit to all who travelled to support the lads. I wasn't expecting anything from that game.

What a massive win for Weymouth, coming into Saturday off the back of that suggests they will be a tougher prospect than King's Lynn last weekend. We will need to take another step forward to get a crucial victory. If we don't up the levels again I fear we will lose.

Colclough is on a different level to most at this level, let alone some of our players. Without wanting to labor a point, our recruitment has been dire. We wonder why we can’t score a goal after re-signing a player that hasn’t scored a competitive goal in over a year. We sign a young defender on loan that hadn’t played a game for nearly 2 months and expect him to be prime Hannigan. It’s all wrong.

I know most will disagree with me but after last season I really expected us to push on, we saw signs of some real quality play despite the poor runs and I thought Parky would learn lessons. We’re in the position we are because of awful recruitment and some strange tactical decisions (Mullarkey) borne out of frustration.

Now the backslapping from beating the leagues whipping boys on Saturday has died down, nows the chance to give everyone a real sense of perspective - if we lose on Saturday Weymouth will be 6 points behind us with a game in hand. But at least we’ve now won 1 in about 30 games 👍

Glad Cooper isn’t starting, doesn’t look anywhere near fit enough

Question for those on here who know their stats: I we ranked all the teams in NL and NLN in order, and indicated which were FT and which PT, whereabouts would Alty be?
I really struggling to understand why Hashtag and (some) others are so outraged; if you look at what we are up against, is it really any surprise we are where we are?

That’s because I don’t support happy clapping fc. Like it or not, I’m an Altrincham fan not a PP fan.

PP leaving is not an option at this stage. That would simply be suicidal.

For what it's worth, I think we'll beat Woking on Saturday and then hopefully we'll be having a different conversation.

In what sense suicidal?

We lose every single week and have won one game in months. Even if a new manager came in a had the same run of form as PP, that still wouldn’t be worse than what we’re doing currently.

He’s a legend at this club and always will be, the way he lead us back from the Unibond onto the North and then the National has been nothing short of heroic and actually doing it whilst being pleasing on the eye.

However, we’ve hit rock bottom again, the free flowing confident football has disappeared and the recruitment, even recently has been horrific. The only way he should stay on is if the board think he is the best single person to turn it around, but what would they base that opinion on?

Our form is worse than most in the whole country in the last half of a season, and we had a couple of torrid runs last year too.

Jordan Hulme on a stag do. Absolutely shambolic and tinpot as hell that, what’s happened to the culture we’ve witnessed over the last few seasons. It’s gone, there no retrieving it now, let them go, let’s say our thanks and bring someone in who knows the level, as the form over the last 18 months is disgraceful!

If this is true, cancel his contract and play Peers till we signed a striker.

In a month where we lost Cardwell to a relegation rival who've won 3 in a month, this ins unacceptable.

It’s how far we’ve sunk as a club that we signed an ex player who left on bad terms because our recruitment strategy is absolutely woeful. Hasn’t scored a goal for a year and the f***s off on a jolly boys outing on the weekend of a massive game like this. We’ve become an embarrassment but not as embarrassing PP allowing this to happen!

0 wins in 10 in the league and 1 in 16. SIXTEEN!!

But it’s ok because we’ve got 2 of the bottom 3 coming up. It’s so far from being acceptable it’s beyond belief!
