Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Spitting incident at Dorking
« on: April 10, 2024, 07:04:46 PM »
Did you attend the game or are you just  looking at a video? I didn’t give the camera man abuse. I was having a back and forth with a supporter in the terrace behind the goal. It’s a football match, people get heated, the whole of the YouTube show is about a man getting cross at a football match and giving officials grief

No I wasn't at the match. The video doesn't seem to support your version, but I'll take your word for it that this was the case. The next question is then, should you not have grown out of shouting abuse at total strangers by now? I've witnessed you do that countless times in the Pop Side. You could never doubt your loyalty but maybe it's time to reflect on some aspect of your behaviour inside a football ground?

What on earth was he thinking, hope he gets a long ban. Think you can also call into question the behaviour of another fan in this incident who seems to be giving the camera man an earful. Personally think there's a case for a ban for him as well, irrespective of how long he's been supporting the club. What on earth had the cameraman done to deserve that. As the earlier post said, there was abuse dished out in the home game. Its the sort of thing that has to be nipped in the bud very quickly by the club, to show that they are on top of issues with fan behaviour, which unfortunately have been increasing as this season has gone on.

Thought we played some good stuff at times in the first half and the miss from Donowa obviously proved crucial near half time. To be fair to Gateshead, thought they gradually got into the game more as the 1st half went on. 2nd half great finish by Mooney, but apart from the header from CCC, didn't think we created much else. Their 2nd and 3rd goals didn't look great defencively from the Golf Road, but maybe the highlights will show differently. On a negative note disappointing to hear someone say there was the fighting outside the ground after the game. Apparently there were a group of about 30 Gateshead fans hanging around waiting for their coach, couple of Alty fans responded to their chants, I guess they should have just kept quiet, but then some Gateshead fans attacked them. Hope they are ok.

Do you mean issues between some of the players?

Certainly didn't look good for Isaac, at the end. Poor game, but in the end going by their 2nd half chances, if any team deserved to win it, I thought it was them. Apart from the CCC free kick and a couple of shots straight at the keeper, we created very little. Didn't feel we ever really got going and although the supply wasn't great, thought Angus offered little up front and seemed to spend alot of time on the deck looking for free kicks. Hopefully an improvement on Tuesday.

Altrincham FC First Team / Club Statements
« on: March 08, 2024, 03:52:52 PM »
Disappointing to see the club having to issue a 2nd statement in the space of two days regarding events at Tuesdays match. Also on Tuesday, there was a further incident on the Popular Side at the end of the 1st half, between a longstanding fan and a group of young lads who may have just started coming to games. Stewards quickly intervened and defused the situation. Tuesdays game does highlight though, that with increased crowds, there are going to be more idiots. This was the case at some games last season, but I don't think had been much of a problem this season, until the home game v Rochdale, where there were some minor issues I believe after the game with fans heading back into town, and then on Tuesday. Hopefully that will be it for the remaining games of the season, but obviously the Oldham game stands out, where there could be issues and any potential play off games as well.

Agree about Dior and his antics. Let's not kid ourselves that we don't have players who are happy to fall over and roll around like some of the Dorking players. Isaac Marriott was trying to get the Dorking player sent off after the first goal, with his reaction. Matty Kosylo is another player who can roll around as well at times. Every team unfortunately has these types of players.

For the most part the rain hasn't been monsoon like, just steady. Given though I don't think it's stopped raining since the clubs last statement, maybe time for an update. You would hope the pitch would be OK and it's forecast to be dry for the game.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Moss Lane Or New Ground
« on: September 07, 2023, 06:38:21 AM »
Do we actually need additional seating in the Popular Side? After visiting AFC Fylde for the first time in our recent league game, I think their ground is the ideal template for the size of club Alty can ever realistically be. Personally the main focus for me would be redeveloping the Main Stand and the hospitality/away stand. Knock them both down and rebuild from scratch. Redo the terracing at the Golf Road End, add a partial roof to the away end and maybe put on a new roof on the Popular Side, so it's all one level for possibly the first time this century! All of this ofcourse would cost alot of money, but its certainly needed as has been said before, Moss Lane is certainly showing its age. As for moving, the very limited spaces available  for a new ground near the town centre, and the fact, even if the club was in League 1 or 2, its difficult to see average crowds of much more than 4000, I wouldn't see that as being necessary.

Yes they didn't seem in a hurry to let people through even after talking to Bill. This take though would mean half the pop side being empty for this season, apart from the occasional game like tomorrow when the away fans fill that space or when there is no segregation.

Yes thats true, I don't recall the club saying anything about the situation re the Popside v Notts County last season. Not sure it should have taken until Wednesday though to release a statement about last Saturday. The club are employing these extra individuals to become a more professional outfit on and off the pitch but at times we are still very amateurish in some aspects. Surely if you have a new set of stewards, you would hope the club would have gone through with them what their match roles would be.

It would also be good, if the club are going to charge £5 for a physical season card, they could at least use a platform where you are able to download your season ticket to an android mobile, rather than just having a pdf file, like anyone who has an iphone is able to do.

I agree, hopefully the club will release the number sold so far in the run up to the D&R game. One issue I would have about season tickets is the lack of facility to download to Google Pay. Think the club should still be issuing physical cards, for anyone who has an android phone, free of charge, rather than just sending a pdf link with the QR code

Personally I thought PP was a bit exaggerating how well we played yesterday and how well their keeper did. He  certainly made a few decent saves, but overall I thought Byrne was the busier keeper especially in the 1st half. We missed some decent chances especially the Hugill chance in the 1st half but we could have very easily been 2 0 down, at that point, when they should have scored with the header which hit the bar. Overall I think a draw was the most we deserved.

With rain about what's the odds we lose the last third of the Popular Side to Gateshead fans?
