Altrincham FC First Team / My Two Pennies Worth
« on: May 01, 2016, 09:53:35 AM »
I'm not going to go over old ground, as we all know the fundamental reasons why we've gone down, but my thoughts;

I still stand by the turning point of the season being Colchester. On top of the last minute heartache, the extra cash from replay money, and probable FA prize fund for wining, would have been invaluable. As it was, the club as a whole never recovered from it.

The moment I definitely knew we'd go was Halifax, that happens to relegated sides. The 3 games of Halifax, Southport and Kidderminster should had actually brought us 9 points (against 10 men for most of the 2nd half and going1-0 up in the other 2). Instead, due to lack of concentration and sitting too deep, we came away with 2 points. Just that 7 point difference alone would had left us comfortable in 18th.

The issue about not signing players when we had the chance in January. I know we made a few loan signings, arguably too late. As mentioned, the playing budget for this season exceeded last seasons, and with the club in the red, naturally we want to bring ourselves back in to black, so put money aside to clear debts. I don't know if this is the case, but if it is I understand why.

Big changes in personnel and attitude need to be made in summer. As a supporter of 22 years, my enthusiasm for the club has dwindled in these last 5 months, for as much off the pitch as on it.And the worrying thing is know supporters of 50 years, 10 years and 5 years are feeling the same as me. Let's not ruin all the hard work that's been done on the community side of things and bringing more to Moss Lane.

Altrincham FC First Team / Kidderminster Pitch

Looks like they have a similar problem Harrogate had a couple of seasons ago. Let's hope we are able to overcome a pitch issue and able to play like we did the other day.

Altrincham FC First Team / Signed Rocky Robin shirt
« on: October 05, 2014, 11:17:49 AM »
Since Rocky has now got this seasons shirt, I have got him to sign the old shirt, and decided to put it up for auction. All funds for this will go to the Community Sports Hall fund. You can place a bid by PM'ing me on here, or email nashy1986@hotmail.com. The auction will end on Thursday 23rd October, and the winning bidder can receive the shirt from Rocky at the FA Cup game on 25th October if we are at home, or the Alfreton game on 1st November.

Thanks

With not much on thought I'd head down. Can split the game into 3 sections;

First 20 mins: Complete control of the game, but no final ball
20-75 mins: All over the place, lacklusture.
75-90 mins: Finally got going, and 2 well worked goals.

Penalties, whilst it was good that it happened, it was the worst shoot-out I think I've ever seen. Reeves nearly got it right, as all his misses have been when he's put them to either side. Today he went straight down the middle, like he did when he scored them, but hit the bar.

Positives: Reeves and Gillespie getting on the score sheet again. Strikers who keep scoring in games can only be good. Also Crowther, who overall was probably our best player.
Negatives: Too many lacklusture performances, it took for Densmore to come on before we had any shape. Even less confident if we are involved in a penalty shoot out this season.

As few have had, not overly concerned with the result, and it is better to have a performance like this now so we can iron things out before Aldershot.

Altrincham FC First Team / Trafford
« on: July 17, 2014, 12:25:31 PM »
For me this is where pre-season begins. After a few games of getting the sharpness back, I always have Trafford down every year as the marker where things start coming together. Everyone know's where we are currently short, and everything will be done behind the scenes to sort that out.

And although a friendly, I'm sure many of the players, and Sinnott and Tolson, will want to banish any memories of the worst day of last season.

Altrincham FC First Team / Anyone else starting to come down yet??
« on: May 11, 2014, 07:59:21 PM »
Still can't quite believe it. Even by Alty standards, that was bizarre. It just doesn't happen.

Everyone and everything on and off the pitch went to plan, so thank you to the players and staff to ensure the day went smoothly.

No doubt next season will be difficult. I agree with the 'little Altrincham' and all that mentally shouldn't come back, but I'll still be delighted if we finished 20th.

For now though, savour the moment and everyone enjoy going into work tomorrow and tell colleagues how over 4,000 came and a sub came on in 120th minute and scored the winner 22 seconds later. Immensely proud to be part of this club.

Admist the europhia of the weekend, it has pretty much gone unoticed we have added a new face to the Board. Looks to have a lot of experience, and also on the Conference Board (is Andrew Shaw still on there, or did he stand down? I can't remember).

Altrincham FC First Team / Balls to it, let's just get promoted!!
« on: April 19, 2014, 12:07:35 PM »
I agree last night we didn't fire on all cylinders. Realistically, everyone knew the title would be beyond us before the game, just disappointing we didn't win.

But reading some of the posts on here since after the game, you'd think we'd lost in the play-offs. I'm neither sinnin or sinnout, I'm leaving that until May 11th. Although I wonder what people want, Sinnott in charge of a Conference Premier side or another manager in charge of a Conference North side?? I'm pretty sure I know which once I want!!

Let's just get behind the lads from the off on Monday, see off Histon next week to ensure 3rd and win these bloody play offs!!

Means that if Workington lose on Saturday, they can be relegated if we beat them on Tuesday.

Altrincham FC First Team / Belated Congratulations to Damian Reeves
« on: March 29, 2014, 08:42:03 PM »
I asked after Reeves goal that he must be close to passing Colin Little's goals record of 114 goals. Just looked and indeed today was Damian's 121st goal for the club. He scored his 115th in the 1-1 draw at Barrow on 28th December. Those 121 goals have come in 181 games!! Here's to 150  :)

Apologies if it was mentioned at the time.

Edited: JL was amending the stat's sheet whilst I was looking and had today's goal in

Phil

As you have seen from previous posts in the past, I have been lenient towards officials at our games. This is mainly due to the poor standard we see at the highest level, hence why I expect very poor decisions at our level. However, today's events have made me question the referees responsibility. They have become such a high profile in the game.

So I put to you. Anthony Taylor. I do not doubt he is one of the best referees in this country. But he has made a few high profile 'errors' to the majority. Do you think it is time referees came out and explained there decisions?

I cannot see any reason why this would have a negative effect. If the ref came out and explained decisions, they may be able to gain the respect that that referees in rugby do

Altrincham FC First Team / Most Frustrating Club in the country!!
« on: December 21, 2013, 07:21:05 PM »
Just got back, bit predictable wasn't it!!

Firstly, I may be in the minority but I have no qualms with Reeves being on the bench. Looking at the last 3/4 games, Reeves has been poor while Perry has been putting the effort in and was arguably our best player at Gloucester. I don't buy into the the '40 odd goal striker on the bench', the form he has been in this season is not that of a 40 goal striker, and you cannot keep a player in the side due to past achievements.

Saying that, Perry was poor today and I would had taken him off and brought Reeves on. The only reason I can think why Sinnott brought Walshaw off was he thinks Reeves and Walshaw now cannot play together due to their falling out. I don't agree with this, but it's the only thing I can think off. If this is the case, Sinnott needs to get them together and tell them 'I don't care that you hate each other, just work as a team for each other on that pitch.' We have 2 of the best strikers in this league, they need to work together if we are to get promotion.

As for the rest of the game, was nearly a day where we showed we are title contenders ie. not playing well, but getting the 3 points. However, a stupid free kick by Lawrie and not clearing our lines in the last attack of the game cost us 2 points. Think we need to get minimum 7 points from the 2 Stalybridge games and Barrow to keep ourselves in there.
