Altrincham FC First Team / Oldham bounce-back party
« on: April 02, 2023, 12:16:03 PM »
Get yourselves to Boundary Park on 7th April and get yesterday out of your system.

First time, to my knowledge, we have played at Boundary Park.

Easy to get to for most.

Everyone has budgeted for Wembley - that isn't happening - nothing we can do about that -  so isn't it better that we get back on the horse, carry on, and make lots of noise supporting the team.

Every proper fans gets hurt like we are are from yesterday - proper fans bounce back.

The players will be gutted - so do we swerve this match because its hurting so they run out to 117 away fans in a 7000 crowd and feel like no one cares, or do we get 1000 there out singing the home fans so that the players know we are still behind them and we love our club rain or shine?

We show character and the players will too.

Altrincham FC First Team / PRICES REMINDER FOR SATURDAY
« on: October 14, 2022, 09:28:53 PM »
Just a reminder first of all that Season Tickets do not apply for FA Cup games, so you need to buy tickets in advance or pay at the gate tomorrow.

Ticket prices have been discounted to encourage maximum attendance, and are as follows -

£15 - ADULTS

£10 - CONCESSIONS

£5 - JUNIORS - 12 TO 18 YEARS OLD

£2 - UNDER 12S.

These are great prices for a vital game, so let's hope it's a great turnout and a bouncing atmosphere tomorrow.

Altrincham FC First Team / current rivals
« on: May 12, 2022, 11:50:10 PM »
Who do people think our natural rivals currently are?

In past years the obvious contenders, depending on what generation you started watching Alty were Wigan, Macc Town, Northwich, Mossley, Runcorn, Scarborough for a while, Macc Town again, Southport intermittently, Chester in recent years, Stockport perhaps, even Wrexham at a stretch.

I am going to put in the case for Halifax.  We have both yo yo'd between NL nd NL North for a few years, have had some big 6 pointers with them, have seen big followings come to Moss Lane and we are taking more and more to theirs every time we play them. I used to think they were bigger than us, but our attendances have been higher than theirs this season, so they seem increasingly to be about our level, just as Macc, Vics, Southport have been in the past.

What do people think? Any other past or current contenders that I may have overlooked?

Altrincham FC First Team / Macc Chav Massive
« on: February 05, 2022, 10:23:54 PM »
What the hell was that all about?

Reports differ but some say there were about 60 scrawny little sh*ts from Macc outside and trying to get into the game to cause bother. Saw a few of them outside before the game and they looked like average age 15 and rather pathetic, though I understand more turned up later.

Hope no Alty fans came to any harm, and big thanks to the professional job of work performed by the stewards who contained them and kept them out.  Had they not been on their game it would have been very unpleasant indeed.

Just aghast that these Macc scum took the trouble to come all the way to Moss Lane just to stand outside the ground being dickheads

Altrincham FC First Team / Get behind the lads against Kings Lynn
« on: September 27, 2021, 10:16:45 PM »
It'd be great if we could break 4 figures for a midweek match.

We have had about 1900 home fans at the Dover match and about 1700 home fans against Dover.  If we could the majority of those along tomorrow, that would be magnificent.

I know two home matches in a week is an expense for everyone, but ultimately its actually 5 home matches in 18 months, and the performance against one of the biggest and best clubs in the league last Saturday deserves a good turnout and a noisy atmosphere tomorrow night.

So make the effort if you can.  I am coming over from dirty, dirty Leeds after all .....

Altrincham FC First Team / Naming the Popular Side
« on: August 04, 2020, 12:46:05 PM »
The Popular side is the largest end of terracing in the ground and I believe much of the extra capacity that has been signed off in the ground can be attributed to the Pop side, which up to now has had the same capacity as the Golf Road officially, I understand.

I think the name is far too generic and I think we have an opportunity to name it officially - perhaps running a competition.

I favour the following -

THE GEORGE HESLOP TERRACE

George (RIP) did more for the club over a longer period of time than anyone alive or dead, and is more than a legend - in my book he was the Father of the club.  We will never see his like again and I think marking his passing with a permanent tribute like this is absolutely fitting for the great man.

Any thoughts peeps?

Altrincham FC First Team / Fans yesterday
« on: December 01, 2019, 09:34:49 PM »
It isn't just the players that were outstanding yesterday. I ended up watching the match from the middle of their main stand and it was a  pleasure to watch and listen to our fans make so much noise throughout the 90 minutes and more, and to take on the Fratton End in the noisiness stakes and give them a good run for their money - because you did - for the most part you were just as loud or louder than the Pompey fans - who to be fair never shut up either- I still have that drum and bell racket bouncing around my skull  (think its a south coast variant of Drum and Bass!).

I don't think I have ever seen us go as bonkers as we did when Hancock slotted his penalty home btw.  It looked like joyous bedlam from where I was sat, must have been awesome to be part of that. This generation of Alty fans are quality - noisier, more passionate, more loyal home and away, have funnier repertoire of songs and far better in my view than what we generally got in 'the glory years'.  Pete Carroll and Kenny RIP would be very proud of you all.

Talk about 12th man - you were the entire subs bench yesterday and you definitely inspired the players. Pompey fans commented that you were quality, noisy, vociferous, credit to the club - all these are comments addressed to me by Portsmouth fans who I spoke to after the match.

Keep it going comrades - we are on our way back!

Altrincham FC First Team / Jordan Hulme
« on: December 01, 2019, 09:16:13 PM »
Given the level of the opposition especially, I thought Jordan put in one of the best centre forward displays I have ever seen in 45 years of watching the Robins.  He was absolutely superb and gave their back 4 a torrid time throughout the whole match.  He should have had a penalty in the first half, and the fact that the left back risked a penalty to stop him in his tracks shows how much fear and respect they had for him, he went agonisingly close when he hit the post, and Kenny Overcoat himself said he was happy he was brought down for the 2nd half penalty because he was about to 'pull the trigger' and we have seen Jordan score plenty of goals in similar positions.

What made it the complete forward's performance for me though was his work rate - one time he lost possession and tracked back a good sixty yards to help us win the ball back - his skill and touch on the ball, his unselfish play - several cute little lay offs to other players and putting in the tackles l - and the fact that he got right under their defence's skin, annoyed the hell out of them, and lulled them into mistake after mistake.

Truly outstanding young man!  You7 just proved you could walk into any league one side and do a great job of work for them - that is how good you are Jordan.  You will have Conference North's defences on toast for the rest of the season if you keep playing like that. Fill your boots lad ;D
