Altrincham FC First Team / TOP OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE
« on: April 08, 2022, 02:52:00 PM »
Having just looked at the top 8 in the table (with the exception of Solihull Moors) it is populated by x league teams, which made me think who has replaced them? Ignoring the yo yo teams I can think of Forest green, Salford and Sutton but there must be more? SBL

Altrincham FC First Team / CPR
« on: December 03, 2021, 08:10:37 AM »
Over the last few days there have been a number of incidents in or around football stadiums necessitating the use of CPR. Indeed, the Wigan manager applied CPR to one of his players. Apparently the whole of the Wigan team has been trained in CPR! May I suggest to the Alty hierarchy to consider this? I know we are part time and training time is precious however!! SBL

Apparently, chaos reigned at the Orient on Saturday, as the referee forgot to add on 4 minutes extra time at the end of the 1st half. So, when they came out for the second half the ref made them play 240 seconds kicking the same way as in the 1st half then a short break before changing ends!

There's a song I have in mind. "Time after Time" Cyndi Lauper   SBL !!!!!!!  Any more???????????

Altrincham FC First Team / NOTHING BOUT FOOTIE BUT A GOOD READ!
« on: May 13, 2020, 08:49:04 AM »

IN CASE YOU DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THIS LITTLE TIDBIT OF WONDERFUL TRIVIA..............
ON JULY 20, 1969, AS COMMANDER OF THE APOLLO 11 LUNAR MODULE,
NEIL ARMSTRONG WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO SET FOOT ON THE MOON.
HIS FIRST WORDS AFTER STEPPING ON THE MOON,
THAT'S ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND,"
HIS WORDS WERE TELEVISED TO EARTH AND HEARD BY MILLIONS.
BUT, JUST BEFORE HE RE-ENTERED THE LANDER, HE MADE THE ENIGMATIC REMARK "GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY."
MANY PEOPLE AT NASA THOUGHT IT WAS A CASUAL REMARK
CONCERNING SOME RIVAL SOVIET COSMONAUT.
HOWEVER, UPON CHECKING, THERE WAS NO GORSKY IN EITHER THE RUSSIAN OR AMERICAN SPACE PROGRAMS.
OVER THE YEARS, MANY PEOPLE QUESTIONED ARMSTRONG AS TO WHAT THE 'GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY' STATEMENT MEANT, BUT ARMSTRONG ALWAYS JUST SMILED.
ON JULY 5, 1995, IN TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA, WHILE ANSWERING QUESTIONS
FOLLOWING A SPEECH, A REPORTER BROUGHT UP THE 26-YEAR-OLD QUESTION ABOUT MR.GORSKY AND THIS TIME HE FINALLY RESPONDED
BECAUSE HIS MR. GORSKY HAD JUST DIED, SO NEIL ARMSTRONG FELT HE COULD NOW ANSWER THE QUESTION.
HERE IS THE ANSWER TO "WHO WAS MR. GORSKY?":
IN 1938, WHEN HE WAS A KID IN A SMALL MID-WESTERN TOWN, HE WAS PLAYING BASEBALL WITH A FRIEND IN THE BACKYARD.
HIS FRIEND HIT THE BALL, WHICH LANDED IN HIS NEIGHBOR'S YARD BY THEIR BEDROOM WINDOW.
HIS NEIGHBORS WERE MR. AND MRS. GORSKY.
AS HE LEANED DOWN TO PICK UP THE BALL, YOUNG ARMSTRONG
HEARD MRS. GORSKY SHOUTING AT MR. GORSKY,
"SEX! YOU WANT SEX?! YOU'LL GET SEX WHEN THE KID NEXT DOOR WALKS ON THE MOON!!
IT BROKE THE PLACE UP.
NEIL ARMSTRONG'S FAMILY CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS A TRUE STORY. SBL

Altrincham FC First Team / SUNDERLAND TIL I DIE
« on: May 03, 2020, 08:41:57 AM »
Hi all, for those footie fans with Netflix (maybe on other platforms I don't know) there is a really interesting and compelling documentary/drama called Sunderland til I die. There's two series and it tells of the demise of the club since being relegated from the Premiership and the hard season when they were also relegated from the Championship. Its really a worthwhile watch and if you haven't seen it I would recommend it. (Unless your a Sunderland fan of course!) SBL

Altrincham FC First Team / LOCKDOWN ACTIVITIES
« on: April 29, 2020, 02:27:15 PM »
Just thought for a bit of fun I would ask what supporters have been doing during lockdown? (Keep it clean) ;) ;)
Me, well, walking the dog, (the poor bugger is walked out),  fence painting (you can't get fence paint anywhere), having a kick around with Josh (he still hasn't got my touch ha), surfing the net, painting the garage doors and decking and shed, auctioning a cricket bat! watching Pierce Morgan! other telly, falling asleep! drinking wine. trying not to wake up to early! Being patient with the other arf! That's about it. SBL

Altrincham FC First Team / TERRY MURPHY
« on: August 19, 2019, 07:56:53 AM »
For those older Alty fans you may remember the name of a local footie character and great guy around the Northwich Area. Sadly Terry passed away over the weekend aged 79.
Terry managed a number of clubs in his time notably Vics and Witton Albion. He also had a spell managing Winsford. SBL
