If alty fans bring flares or invade the public airing and lambastation is clear . I can't say the the same for away fansDorking are only a premier club due to a flare. So we need to invest in some flares. It's not conclusive and irreputable proof that the flare changed the course of the game because it isn't possible to say what would have happened if the flare hadn't been thrown. I'm just playing devil's advocate. I'm rooting for Gateshead in the final. Ironically the Halifax halfwits wouldn't have got anywhere near the nets at the International Stadium and would have to be Olympic athletes to reach the pitch over the running track.
They beat Ebbsfleet in POs thanks to Ebbsfleet fans lobbing a flare on which they thought was the winner.
It gave Dorking time to re group, go again, equaliser and go up
the base is still about just old and well behaved now 😂 we are the Alty fusiliers on tourI seem to recall in the 80s and maybe 9os when the opposing keeper took a goal kick the golf road would chant youve got aids and vd your not going to wembley .
One best forgotten.
We don't get that base now. When was The Alty Fusiliers last heard?
bang on . The home fans are generally a friendly bunch .. easy targets. The away fans tend at times to be a bit more challenging so they can play as they wantAh, but here's the rub. The message to fans of teams who are losing going into the final minutes is, you can buy yourself a few more minutes if you chuck a flare onto the pitch. If you're lucky it'll miss the keeper.
I'm not saying that the ref necessarily had a choice, but he will be reflecting on how that call basically condoned hooliganistic behaviour.
You're not buying more time. The game was stopped. Right call from the referee to play out the minute that was lost to deal with the incident and let's be honest, if we were chasing the game and a Halifax smoke bomb was thrown onto the pitch, we would be furious if the referee did not add the extra time on.
How did it get into the ground in the first place? That's the issue.
I think I can answer that. As I've posted previously, I was thoroughly checked by bad attitude steward (on reception at the Oldham game), I suspect because he blamed me for the assault on me at the Notts game that he failed to prevent or deal with. However, it seemed to me that a lot of other people were not being so closely searched. Reading other posts, it seems this may if anything have been worse at the FC end.
From my own experience I'd have to say that the stewards are inclined to be over zealous towards home fans, but are disinclined to step in when needed among large groups of leery away fans.
I fear you are correct and I do hope that the company that were "stewarding" the game cover the cost in full as they failed to carry out what they were employed to deliverI would imagine the FA would take swift and hard hitting action to impose a hefty fine on the club who staged the game for failing to control the crowd in a safe and appropriate manner.I couldn't disagree with that more.
It's a clear and obvious breach of the FA's own rules. The club should at the very least, review the footage before making a decision. The nets were being lifted up while the kicks were being taken - I am surprised that more people didn't notice.
Don't think we will appeal it TBH and IF we did and IF we were successful how do you resolve the issue, kick Halifax out of the competition, replay the game or just retake the penalties.
Some interesting views regarding a supporters group. It's worth remembering that we're now in an age where we have a strong official social media presence where views are surely read at the very least. You then have the curious status of this forum which is unofficial and probably used by only a small minority of our fanbase yet has the occasional posts from officials on it. Add it all up and the views of the fans can be easily seen, and across a broad church. Very different from 30 people in the Noel White Suite on a Monday night asking the chairman stuff.the views must be getting read as they are getting deleted
I would certainly say though that there needs to be some properly coordinated link between the club and it's fanbase where concerns and suggestions are logged and acted upon. A supporter liaison officer could be effective.
To be blunt about it, I’m not sure that some of stewards that the the club hire for games would be up to stewarding if things got really tetchy.I think we already know this from previous issues. But you put one toe inside the home yellow hatched area.....
very poor that the fans (customers) are being censored . It feels like the club wants to be above constructive criticismHugh, if you haven't already done so I suggest you contact the club in respect of the failure of paid stewards to do their job. As other people have said it needs addressing before the game on Saturday.
To clarify, I remained in the vicinity until second half stoppage time to try and sort this. I spoke to several stewards and I think it is fair to say they know where I stand on this and would hope that this issue will be addressed. If there is a repeat, I will of course look out for Bill Waterson (who I know reads these pages) and tell him there is an issue and advise him to address it. If these stewards can't perform the basic functions one assumes they are there for, we should try and get some who can, no matter the cost.
I have contacted Bill and the club today to make a formal complaint.
Especially in light the criticism was removed from a fan Facebook page this morning.
I've made complaints to Lawrence Looney, whose reaction was to remove me from a WhatsApp chat related to voluntary work when a complaint was raised about stewards
always nice to see the chequers end busyCertainly seemed more than 318 in the away end
Wonder if there is a trend to under report the away support especially as there was certainly more that 663 of us for the Trophy game at York
I can confirm factually that there were 318 in the away end - there were plenty of gaps if you looked from the right angle, and the Southend fans weren't that tightly bunched up. When we see 900 Halifax fans in the Scoreboard end next week we will see the difference, and we will also see if the away end is capable of holding more.
similarly with the Gold Road End - 1350 sounds alot, but I believe it can safely hold more, but the capacity has to be capped due to crap terrace design and limited ability to put in crush barriers as a result.
The club does not under report attendances, though it seems possible that other clubs may do.
❤️
Always going to be the chequers end to me
Up the reds
Red Robin Club end for me.
