Gateshead v Chesterfield moved at this very late hour from Tuesday to Monday by the league. League statement says it's to protect the integrity of the competition. Chesterfield fans rightly irate as they've made travel plans. What the hell is all this about?

The only thing I can think of is the league wanted a back-up plan in case any of Gateshead's fixtures is posponed. If their Saturday or Monday games gets postponed, they can tell them to play their remaining fixtures Tuesday and Thursday. If the Wednesday one gets postponed, they can try again the following day.

Although if that is the case, you'd think they'd do the same with Halifax.

For me the time for rotation has ended unless it needs to be for injury/fatigue. Play your best 11

              Ross

Banks  Cooper Baines Jones

     Osbourne   Wilson

Mooney     CCC   Newby

         Linney

Kosylo, Angus, Hancox, Roscoe, Donowa

Massive game, won't be easy but win needed.

I wonder if anyone on this forum has ever said 'I'm in favour of us rotating the squad for this game'? For a meaningful game, that is. Every manager in professional football pretty much believes in squad rotation but us fans don't seem to share that view.

For some reason, the forum looks and works fine for me on Safari but not on Google Chrome.

I'd be very surprised if we don't make a change or two to combat their set-piece strength. Defending free kicks and corners with a front four of Newby, Kosylo, Amaluzor and CCC would be very difficult.

Is anyone listening to RR? Are we on?

Caught between a rock and a hard place with a relatively small squad.
We've really got to win the Maidenhead game now. They don't let many in so our forwards will need to take the few chances come their way.
I'm fearful we'll end up getting a dour 0-0.
Truly hope I'm being too pessimistic and we can get three points.
On the up side, we're still in the play off spots! 😉

No we're not.

Love the shot of the Dale fans leaving after the third goal.

I'm not sure why we need him. Cooper, Baines, Roscoe, Burroughs......

Cooper was the only fit player we had who can play as the right-sided centre back, so as PP says signing Aljofree provides competition and cover in that position.

Yeah, the pitch & the forecast no doubt a big concern. Plus side is it’s over 2 weeks since we last had a home match & I believe we’ve borrowed some heat lamps off Stoke for the especially dodgy patch in front of the main stand. The forecast tomorrow well known & we’ve had time to prepare plus it should stop at least 3-3.5 hrs before KO so gives us some time to work on it.
As part of the pitch crew, Stoke haven’t lent us any lamps.
Who told you they have ?

Well, someone certainly has. See the post on the Facebook group earlier today.
We've bought it second hand and it's just arrived.

I was sent a picture of it on the hallowed turf/mud over a week ago.

Southend's game at Wealdstone has just been called off, an hour or so before kick-off.

I think that's what's known as karma.

Parky has just stated on Radio Alty that the pitch on Saturday was not playable in his view and he thinks the ref made the right call.

Will Radio Robins be able to give us live commentary on Tuesday given the match is being televised?

Yes. I think there was a time when we didn’t do radio coverage of TV games but that’s not the case now.

You tell me. At the meeting yesterday between SUFC, AFC and a local official (who attended today and postponed the game) it wasn't Southend who wanted either the inspection or the postponement. That only leaves two others, and I suspect it was the local ref but it may well have been Alty too (seriously doubt that, but you never know).

Ok. So the next time Southend are required to arrange a pitch inspection, can they try to do it at a time that’s not going to f**k over the opposition team and their fans if it doesn’t turn out the way they’re expecting to? Not a lot to ask.

No, it demonstrates that the pitch is playable and the match should not have been postponed.

Then why arrange a pitch inspection?
