Decent read Lee. Well researched and not far off what Iíd guess at to be honest. Good to see you rate Lewis Baines.

Donít worry about whatís written, can only be realistic rather than blowing sunshine.

Iím not fussed about clubs coming in for Parky. If they do it means the club is doing so well that heís attracting attention. Thatís a win win. Iíd be more concerned if no one wanted him!

I think the new lad might go straight in:

                          Byrne

Mullarkey  Jones  Baines  Brockbank

              Lundstram  Osborne

   Conn-Clarke  Bennett  Colclough

                          Hulme

Whatever the make of the back four Iíd be surprised if Toby is shunted out to right back

I'd like us to have fan fare begin before teams emerge where we can, and then teams walk out on the poignant bit.

Always seems to start too late
Youíre spot on with the timing. It wasnít always so Iím sure. I seem to remember the fanfare starting before the teams emerged from the tunnel.

In times gone by Alty Tunnel Steward would give the signal to start Fanfare as we were coming out of the tunnel.

The Hobgoblin was very nice but is so cold? Get why the largers and ciders are cold (too cold imho) but noy not the bitters.

And why wasn't the Community Shield being shown post match?

The lack of ability for people to turn the tv over has been here for years.

Iím not why the club donít understand that advertising which football is on is a draw for people for people to come in early/stay and watch. Poor.

Iím not quite sure about that (although who knows). Weíve been used to putting 2 and 2 together for so long I guess.

Donít know, just donít think a signing of a trialist and a welcome return for JJ is equal money wise to a fee that TM would command.

Didnít see that coming!  Great to have him back but thatís strengthened the position we were already strongest in. Can one of our 4 CB play left back as cover / competition for Liam?

Iíd contend it was the position we were strongest in!

Iím not sure how much of another Ďtestí we really need.

Our final 3 friendlies are essentially against loaded probable league one winners, a hiding to nothing against Stoke Cityís first team and the usual chasing shadows against Unitedís kids in a 0-3 piss take in front of an average crowd.

Iím not sure how this benefits us heading into the new season tbh.

Would Adam Rooney, if we could afford him, be worth a punt? Looks to be without a club after leaving Solihull

Was being paid £4k p/w at Salford and not much less than that at Solihull. Well out of our reach, surely.

We could transpose them Mooney sing fairly easily I suppose

Thought as much but to be without a club 12 days before the season, we might be able to offer a short term option.. Straws. Grasping.

Thatís really sad news. A lovely man and a loyal Altrincham club man to the core. Untold hours put towards our club. RIP Derek.

Ultimately, I'm just disappointed that the club appear to have shafted a business that flies the flag for us so well. I do hope the bridge hasn't been burned entirely.

As for the the fan zone, in whatever form it does finally take, it was created to drive footfall to the ground earlier, and generate more revenue from food and drink. I do not think it will achieve that aim if it is 'standard' bottled and canned options akin to the CSH. The fans who were interested in this project will likely to continue to drink in the town centre pre-game, probably at the bar that we could have had at the ground.

Very strongly agree with this sentiment.  I thought the Libero link-up was a big plus for the Club: good beer, local ind. company, likely to bring fans in earlier etc.  As a general point, I think the Club needs to exercise care moving forward into the professional era, and they will need to tread carefully the fine line that separates the core fan base from the (new) corporate backers who may stipulate unpopular demands in return for their sponsorship.  An interesting, local comparison might be to Sale FC who rebranded themselves as Sale Sharks in the run up to rugby going professional.  There, the board marketed the Club aggressively to attract a larger crowd that they hoped would ensure their survival.  While they have been successful in making the transition (propped up by RFU money?) I think the fan base has altered dramatically and would be unrecognisable from their time at Heywood Road.  As we move into this new pro-era, we must be prepared to embrace change, but not forget our roots, what it is we stand for, and the reason why we chose to support Alty in the first place.

Think Saleís fan base altered dramatically due to the move from Heywood Road to the AJ Bell stadium in Salford. The difference in getting there from the wealthier Cheshire environs of Wilmslow, Alderney Edge, Altrincham was dramatically altered. Edgeley Park suited it very well but the AJ Bell May as wel be on the moon itís that difficult to access.

So not really a true comparison although I know what youíre getting at.

There hasnít been working sewers on the pop side of the ground for decades now.

The imbalance presented by funnelling everything towards the CSH corner of the ground (turnstiles, toilets, snack bar, bar) is a real issue and as Ollie alludes to, we need something sorted on that side just to alleviate pressure on those that use the Main Stand/CSH who arenít as mobile etc.

I donít think the club in years gone by ever seriously thought about realising itís potential crowds wise but the short sighted, rushed planning and focus on the CSH has also taken away a large amount of movement and space that used to be there in the mausoleum days.

Iíve long been an advocate of match day turnstiles at the golf road being the ones at the far end (would reduce Moss Lane queuing) but we donít because we built new turnstiles 15 years ago. We might actually have to be pro active and say, no, we donít HAVE to use them.
