Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Crowds

With the coaches (non refundable) being full and tickets selling fast, is anyone else (non season ticket holder) concerned they may not get a ticket for this when they go on general sale tomorrow?

Everyone who wants one will get one is still my view. I suspect a lot of non ST-holders & LoyALTY members have been sorted out today by mates with the right accesses. We’ve still got another 300 to sell. Think people have just got a bit giddy because we are not used to this kind of scenario. Does show people for a club who expect to be banging on the door of the EFL that there’s every incentive to buy a ST.

Average crowd of 2295 for the season if football web pages have included today.Best for 50 plus years ?

https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league/attendances

I calculate that the average attendance for our 23 league games this season is 2,339.

Last season it was 2,114.

Absolutely superb. Must have grown by about 1,500 since Parkys first season. Imagine even 2-3 years ago telling someone we’d get 3,300 in for a home game against Oxford City. If we are still a NL team next season then think we must aim for a 2,500 average. Think we could be less secretive about our ST sales & really push that too. No reason we shouldn’t have 1000 in August. The big elephant in the room of course is that with growing attendances must come improved spectating facilities off the pitch. Especially if the unthinkable happens…

What a bizarre day but the National League eventually got to the right decision in the end. Feel for Gateshead but the rules & deadlines are clear.

A full week to prep now for Bromley & some extra recovery time for the players. Perfect.

One win for our fourth trip to Wembley. What a prospect.

I really can’t see a knackered Gateshead side getting 9/9 this week, they will drop points somewhere so IMO as long as we beat Oxford next Saturday then we’ll get 4th & probably Halifax at home a week on Weds. Barnet & Bromley deserve top 3 & now have that in the bag.

Ross

Banks
Jones
Baines
Cooper

Hancox
Osborne

Amaluzor
Newby
CCC

Linney

Surely have to be starting Amulazor if he is fit.

Agreed. Justin A will be crucial to our play off hopes so now we aren’t playing a bunch of thugs on a plastic pitch but a proper footballing team on grass then I’d bring him back in on Saturday. To get to Wembley we are going to have to win at least one away game so I see this Saturday as a real good indicator against a side who still need points to be 100% sure of staying up & have been in fine form recently. Fair play to those who make it all the way down there, sure it’ll be great craic for the last scheduled away of the season & the retro shirts.

Curious Red Balloon you have posted a grand total of once on here before this thread & that over a year ago. Our best league season, with numerous amazing highlights, since 94-95 & none of that has moved you to post once. Then suddenly you start the thread last night & now replying obsessively. You’re a troll & not an Alty fan. Back to Wrexham with you.

Couldn’t make it today but all the reports from those who did suggest I didn’t miss much. Sounds like Dorking were up to their usual tricks, more tactical fouls in their armoury than Fernandinho. Hopefully we won’t be playing them next season. Take the point & move on. Hancox in for last 2, think his experience will be a big help.

Other results largely went our way though & so with our v good GD we will be guaranteed a top 7 spot if Aldershot lose at Gateshead on Tuesday. Though I now rate top 5 as 50/50, we’ll need a big performance down at an in-form Ebbsfleet side next Saturday.

I know Dorking are absolutely desperate for the points, but so were Kiddy last Friday & Boreham Wood a couple of weeks before that. We’ve put the relegation strugglers away at their own grounds recently & if we want top 5 we’ll need to do that again this Saturday. Should be noted too only Kiddy have a worse home record than them this season, & that stand out victory against Chessy aside it’s mainly been a long cycle of defeats with the odd draw for them at their ground since Christmas.

Also think the plastic pitch whilst not ideal we train on one at Egerton most days, so that shouldn’t be a huge factor.

Can’t envisage many changes to the team that started the Oldham game, not a surface to risk starting Justin A on with his recent injury problems but hopefully he might be on the bench. Hopefully Dorking have learnt from their gamesmanship & cynicism at our place & we get a proper game with 22 players on the pitch for the full game. I imagine Linney will have a bit of extra motivation too…

That lad won't fancy making that red card challenge on their own pitch - he'd have no skin left on his leg!
Wasn't it that lad who's gone Gateshead?
I believe so.

Joe Cook I think his name is. TBF to Marc White in his Friday interview after we played them you could tell he wasn’t overly pleased with his teams conduct against us having reviewed the video. I think Cook’s incredibly rash tackle on Newby (still can’t believe he wasn’t sent off) was a factor in Dorking releasing him.

Just to add as well from an organisational point of view for such a large gate I thought things ran very smoothly. No queues to get in on the Pop Side turnstiles shortly after 2, usual quick service in the FZ & stewarding light touch. A good model for how Moss Lane could operate in League 2 I think. Not sure how it was in the CSH, for those in the Main Stand/Golf Road.

Can’t see any big selection dilemmas unless Justin A is fit. Only one game a week after this until the end of the season so full strength & full tilt. If both sides play to their standard levels we should win but Oldham will make it a slog & they are generally speaking a much tougher nut to crack away from Boundary Park.

Hope off the pitch arrangements go smoothly, though the club are well versed in handing larger crowds these days. Weather forecast good too so fingers crossed we put on a show for the telly & do to Oldham what we did to Rochdale a few weeks ago.

Huge win & starts the long weekend off perfectly for us all. It sounded fairly comfortable in the end which is not something you’ve ever been able to say about our games at Kiddy before now. That losing streak firmly behind us now & we look in good shape for the home straight.

Oldham huge on many levels, just hope the team gets the crowd & support they fully deserve. Sure it will be well over 4k but how much further can it be pushed upwards now.

Other results largely in our favour too, that 5th place & a home eliminator tie appears a possibility now if we keep this up.

For those of a certain vintage too & recalling our 99/2000 relegation on the final day at Moss Lane confirmed vs then Champions Kiddy, the opportunity to effectively boot them through the trap door today was very satisfying.

Another biggie against a Kiddy side who need a win more than we do. I’d say the same team that started last night. Any sign of Justin A would be a bonus but hopefully he might be in contention for Oldham where I think we’ll need him more. I reckon we’ll definitely need Kosylo & Hancox experience at some stage of the game too.

Obviously there’s been a revival under Phil Brown but they’ve not won in their last 5 matches & only scored 3 in that time. We’ll never have a better chance to end our dire league record at Aggborough. Not going to be one for the purists but I am confident we’ll edge them out for all 3 points.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Wealdstone Match Thread
« on: March 27, 2024, 08:45:17 AM »
A game of two halves but ultimately another comfortable Tuesday home night.

I thought Wealdstone went off like the clappers, high press, very aggressive & strong running & deserved to take the lead. Our quick equaliser really deflated them though & at half time I was fairly confident. The brilliant early strike by Wilson (what technique, him & Marriot in CM next season is very interesting prospect) settled the nerves & then a lovely little lay off by Mooney (encouraging signs he’s getting back to his level) & superb finish by Banks & it was game over. Fourth put the gloss although I reckon it was Wilson again rather than Linney.

Absolutely has to be followed up at Kiddy on Friday though. Halifax with their two games in hand, are Solihull dropping out, so many twists & turns. Crowd of 1,700 home fans on a wet Tuesday night & with England on TV was very encouraging too. If we get s result vs Kiddy should be 4k plus easy vs Latics I think.

Weakdstone should be ok I think but they looked completely knackered by the second half as a few of us suspected at half time. When you are in the scrap down there you have to go a bit more horses for courses. Thought they went off too quickly & consequently were very easy for us to pick off second half. Massive credit to the 37 away fans.

Absolute must win if we are to have any hope of scraping one of the final play off spots. Linney to start the obvious change but not entirely sure where we are with the back four & we are now entering the four games in nine days period so some kind of rotation is inevitable. Hopefully Wealdstones ridiculous schedule will catch up with them with this being their 3rd league game since last Weds. Crowd won’t be great either I fear around the 1,500 mark after blowing a big chance on Saturday. Flip side recent Tuesday night atmospheres vs Dorking & York with just the hardcore in have been much better.
