A good source tells me that Mr Craneys deal will be finalised today.
The money will come to Accrington in instalments and thus passed on to us in a similiar way so don't expect to see Geoff outside the ground with a six foot £75,000 cheque like its Telethon.

great news.
Altogether now "We own half of Craney, sorry ... we OWNED half of Craney"

With it coming in drips and drabs i fear the playing staff wont be strengthed , hope im wrong but what happened to the ellison money ? already in debt at that stage from memory.
-
To be fair when we got £50,000 for Ellison the club was in a far worse financial state than it is now. That's not to say I think the Craney money will definitely go on players but I don't think you can compare the two scenarios.
The biggest danger is falling into the trap of thinking we're awash with cash all of a sudden, when we clearly won't be.
-
I'd rather the money went to paying off the bills QUICKER than getting in players for half a season.
We are way ahead of schedule on the playing field and to be debt free is very important. Worse case is we'd be debt free in the Conference North nest season, which would leave us starting in a better position than when we got promoted.
I am sure we WILL stay up and whats better than staying up with more money to spend next year on wages with the monthly outgoings reduced.
I say take the Craney money as a 'Bonus' and continue as we are for this season. Let us not make the mistake of spending money we do ot have again.

You're 100% correct Gaz. Let's get totally in the black asap and take it from there. We got back to where we are now by operating within our means and we must continue to do that.

The Kevin Ellison money was split three ways between the directors at the time, me, Gerry and Mark Harris.
Gerry and Mark had £16,667 each and I got £16,666 as I was the youngest.**
**The above statement is a joke by the way

The way I see it is, the money is not strictly the clubs anyway. If the club has both debts and cash, then that cash is morally the property the creditors.
In an ideal world, this is how businesses would operate. Firstly don't spend more than you earn and if you need to borrow, only borrow what you can comfortably pay back. If you cannot pay it back, be prepared to sell an asset to clear your debts.
Unfortunately the world is not ideal and people overspend and overborrow. How are some of the clubs in the Confrerence operating as they do on crowds of 1500 ?
Look upon the money as a bonus and don't expect Clayton Donaldson arriving in a taxi tomorrow. Leave it to the board, they have got thus far and should be trusted to do the right thing
-
I agree it's a bonus and i am sure the club will distribute it where it will do the most good!
-
Right this is just me being worried, which is what being an Alty fan is all about :( but IF Accrington are getting the money in dribs and drabs from Swansea and us likewise and Accrington went into Admininstration (afterall poor crowds, loss of money, etc) does that mean they would not have to pay us (ala Scarboro, although I know that was our choice)
Or am i talking utter cack.
-
we'd become a creditor of theirs surely?
-
But its the 'norm', sorry about this but will mention Scarboro again, that football clubs do not put each other out of business so I would imagine we'd be forced to leave it ? And even as a creditor we would get A LOT less.
Anyway just making an issue out of nothing as it won't happen (TOUCH WOOD) but just thinking of ways this could all go wrong. Ohh I'm a negative b*stard.

Gary Roberts has signed for Ipswich Town for 4 yrs in a deal thought to be worth around £220,000
Hopefully Accrington can sort out Craney's deal today as well ;D
-
Am I not right in thinking that Accrington have to sell if they got an offer of £150,000 as per his contract? If so, I cant think why Swansea would offer more - unless he has impressed others who may come in and bid more.
-
Not sure if his contract was with a minimum fee release clause or a minimum fee that he could talk to other clubs. Either way I would imagine that £150,000 is all he will go for .. well I say all but you know what I mean.
Still awaiting confirmation of our £75,000
04/01/07
from Swansea Website ... so yes £150,000 !
Loan signing Craney is still to complete his permanent £150,000 move from Accrington Stanley to Swansea.
''It's just a matter of finalising the paperwork on that one,'' Jenkins added.
-
On the BBc website it says Loan signing Craney will sign in the next few days
-
hmmm. That doesn't sound so good to me. Given the incompetent administration at ASFC I wouldn;t count on a penny until it's in our pockets.
Also - wonder if ASFC keep the first 50% paid and we wait, or if's all payments are split 50 / 50?
Either way - a class player, well worthy of the step up.
-
Did this get sorted or will we be waiting until 1/31
-
Its not that we don't trust Accrington Stanley, its more that we .........
No, right first time; we don't trust them!!!!!
