Title: Sponsored Slim and Me - Would You Help?..now at £942.50!!...
Post by: markecky on December 31, 2008, 08:57:40 PM
Been having a think about this and I'd do it but anyone who knows me knows that dieting is not my strong point.

I'd often celebrate an Alty win with a kebab or even a draw might get some chips...or a defeat might need a kebab as well.  I can't have a sandwich without crisps and gyms are just direct debits to me.

However..if I could get enough sponsorship from the lads and lasses on the forum I'd do it.

I want to get £500...can it be done?

Distant fans could use Paypal, we'd have cash or cheques and I'd give you a weekly update...and you just need to pledge now and pay February?

What do you reckon...its £500 or bust and I'll lose 10lbs at least...ideally at least a stone?  Believe me that won't be easy but I'd try my best so not to let people down.

Ecky,

A truly noble gesture.

I shall sponsor you for £1.00 per pound of relaxed muscle lost.

I expect to see you lose pounds and duly emulate the magnificent physique of the great Tunna himself in seven weeks time.....

Yes good point. What happens if you weigh in 19st plus, I know the sponsors would owe nothing but would you have to match the pound for lb gain?

I've stuck a few on too this xmas so you never know the missus might top that up by a pound a pound as she seems to have a problem with it. I think I'm cuddly.

I was one of the Vics walkers yesterday and would like to thank all at the Alty club for the hospitality they showed.

IF the rearranged game is a midweek match and I can't make it (I'll be travelling up from Cambridge), then I'll donate my entrance fee to the Alty cause by way of a further thank you.

Now you can't say fairer than that!

Good luck with it all!

Ahh yes, but which variety? Are you a traditionalist or do you go for the new fangled fancy dan crispbread varieties?

I see Ryvita have kept away from poppy seeds to cater for the far east market.....mind you heroin chic and all that. You never see a fat junkie do you? Have you even considered the H-plan diet?

Anyway, fair play to ya. I'll go for a pound a pound mate (ooooh and I've just had a lovely bacon buttie.....sorry couldn't resist).

What has that got to do with anything?

I was one of the Vics walkers yesterday and would like to thank all at the Alty club for the hospitality they showed.

IF the rearranged game is a midweek match and I can't make it (I'll be travelling up from Cambridge), then I'll donate my entrance fee to the Alty cause by way of a further thank you.

Now you can't say fairer than that!

Good luck with it all!

Well I believe that the rearranged game is now Feb 3rd which is a Tuesday. I'm not sure yet if I can make that or not but in light of Alty's gesture today, I'll cough up anyway.!

I don't think £1,000 is out of the question here. Could this not be posted to the media to raise awareness of what 'we' as fans are doing for our club ?

Haha, come on!! Spoilsport!

I'll change my ammount to 100 Euro's if you make into the SAM holding a pork pie and a tenner.  Plus you have to wear a skin tight alty top to demonstrate the struggle ahead.

Its purely genius. Will anyone else match the ammount (approx 90 quid). Im serious

OGC...its a kind offer but I would have to decline.

No problems being a fat b**tard amongst fellow Alty fans on here...don't really want to be stopped in the street to discuss it.

Ecky would not appear on the front of SAM holding a pork pie and a tenner as they dont make Pork Pies big enough.

only joking, think I am bigger than you mate, i had to move off pork pies to kebabs just to keep my stamina up. Mind you the wife doesnt mind  :o

Update...

Right, I'm going off the scales at weighwatchers that say I have lost 10.5 lbs since Weds 7th January when I joined.

Been at the gym every day trying to get this last bit off..so we'll see.

Whilst some people may say "I could do that easy" I've got to admit its been bloody hard.

Highlights include when I had three bags of tesco's own crisps at 11:40pm one night as they were only small and then felt racked with guilt

I'll update you next Wednesday night when I have the last weigh in before the one at the club....it could be cress all the way Thursday/Friday!

And if anyone is reading this for the first time and wants to jib in to make the magic £1000 it would be superb!

£750 handed over to the club so far.

Still a few more to pay...

Please PM with so I can arrange to sort thiswith you, credit/debit card if you're not at Cambridge may be easiest.

I'd be grateful if I didn't have to trawl the thread and PM people individually.

Thanks to all who helped with this.
