Title: York Match Thread
Post by: JT on December 28, 2008, 02:38:04 PM
Altrincham:

01 Coburn
22 Smith
04 McGregor
05 Young
03 Doughty
02 Lane
21 Densmore
16 Danylyk
11 Peyton
19 Senior
14 Johnson

Substitutes
09 Little, 12 O'Neill, 13 Ralph, 15 Meechan, 18 Elam

I read somewhere that Densmore picked up his 5th yellow card of the season at Vics, so i thought he would be suspended or is this wrong?

And why the f**k is Peyton starting ahead of Elam?
Title: Re: York Match Thread
Post by: markecky on December 28, 2008, 02:46:59 PM
Elam starting away at York would be a complete and utter no show in my opinion.

Peyton is no better but he will at least tail the rampaging York winger..

What is the formation? ???

There is no mention on the FA website of Densmore serving a suspension despite our match report from Boxing Day stating it was his 5th caution.

We will certainly miss him when it does happen, that's for sure!

Don't be fooled by league positions - I expect York to be excellent today.

I'd say it's 5-3-2 with wingbacks pushing forward to make a 3-5-2 in attack:

                                                                Coburn

                          Lane          Smith        McGregor     Young         Doughty

                                    Densmore         Danylyk          Peyton

                                                  Johnson     Senior

Agreed, Col is irreplacable in some respects but we have good enough attackers (in theory) to rest him. Last time we rested Col he came back in a really rich vein of form - more of the same please!

For all our poor attacking prowess the stats currently read:

Possession
60% 40%

Shots on target
1 2

Shots off target
0 0

Corners
0 1

Fouls
2 3

Smith has pulled up - looked like hamstring according to comentators

Goal was free kick from the paintwork on the edge of the area.  York guy brought down running at us causing much excitment in the commentary box.

Although we conceded striaght after the sub as we didn't have time to get organised.

But since we've had 3 strikers on we seem to have taken the game to them because prior to that we were getting battered. Why can't we just start with a positive, attacking team? we are soooo much better going forward!!!

At home or against lower teams I'd agree 100%, but at places like York we'll just get picked off and concede 5.

theyve just said that york have been on a good run which included a win at northwich and losing to burton. so their win at northwich and losing to burton must have been of a higher standard than ours. oh, hang on they are lower than us in the league. i fancy us to peg this back now.
Title: Re: York Match Thread
Post by: Dougals Dad on December 28, 2008, 03:44:55 PM
I think there is definitely the potential for something for Alty in this game. It is time for Col to start his run of good form.

Meanwhile, coincidence that the only 2 games called off are at teams who are short of money.

York are below us?!

Id rather  lose 5-0 going forward than 2-0 defending all game.

By the sound of it from the first 30 mins we were on the verge of getting battered anyway.

Guess we'll find out in this second half......

I said "lower" not "below us", as in bottom 4.

All home games I agree should be attack-fests, but not York away. Let's hope for a better second half! :)

Great result but bad news about danylyk. Is it going to be like last year when we got a couple of loanees straight in the team on new years day? I know we've got no money to spend but we need someone to play in central midfield.

Anyway... the 3 points is the most important thing. Well done lads!

Realisticly wont need many more than 15 more points for safety

Quality result!!! Well done boys!!

Not gonna say i told you so but I told you so!! ;)

I'm not sure what happened this season we adopted this 3 upfront formation and had an amazing run then think we lost one and we changed it all and seemed to be going backwards and becoming negative.  >:(

Then we played our 3 upfront formation against Northwich and beat them then second half today we changed to that formation again and won!!

So why don't we just play this formation all the time?? ??? There are NO qualty teams in this league we can beat any of them!! Burton are top and they aren't anything special!!

POSITIVE FOOTBALL& FORMATION FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously we can't afford someone like lewis chalmers like has been mentioned the last few weeks but what about Liam King?

Someone said on here a while ago that he's too similar to Danylyk, but if he's out surely there's a place in the team for him? Last i heard he was at Matlock town or something. He seemed far too good for that when we had him last year

Ye i put up a few weeks back that we should get Liam King if we needed reinforcements.  The lad would do the job if we got him in in my opinion.

Excellent result came on here just as York took the lead decided needing cheering up so went down stairs and watched porridge flicked to sky sports news at 1645 to seee York 1 Alty2 danced around the room the kids friends thought i had lost the plot. Did Ballers do the sprint to break the segregation tape again? A good end to 2008 for all at Alty. :D :D

Fantastic result! It seems since our 4-0 thrashings the players bucked their idea's up! Lets hope for more of the same on New Years Day! We will have a large number of supporters, and with it being on the TV, its a chance to show the Big Time TV Charlies we are a decent part time outfit who can compete in the league!

They must have been offended by my dmage limitation comment..a superb three points which I thought was beyond us.

Someone who could go today said the tactics were spot on.

I really don't agree with the attack at all costs theory though...at home yes but away it should be 4-4-2

Just got back now... Brilliant 2nd Half. Alty really got hold off the midfield and stopped York's passing game.. Dale Johnson was by far the best player on the field, held the ball up superbly and took his goal calmly.... even the York Fans on radio were singing his praises.

Again credit to GH for 2nd half turnaround.

1st time Ive seen them win all season !!!
