So it's a treble where the odds are shorter than 7-1?

Bookmakers dream you are. After all, one of those just lost to a part-time outfit they should be beating  ;)

I won't be backing Burnley after they failed to beat Doncaster at home in their last league match wrecking my last coupon!

1.every good gambler knows to expect a backlash from teams like cambridge when they get back home after a loss on road,
2.Odds should'nt come into consideration when choosing a team to beat another (form and patterns etc should)

anyway thats enough from my gambling book of love, erm hertha play tonight so lets just see fuertes ;D i'll bet you a peake ;D

Love a bet, but it's a no from me.

German football is the devil at the moment...Bayern Munich have murdered my coupon with alarming frequency in recent weeks. (That also stands for AC Milian...2-2 at Torino Sunday...then that last night!)

Having said that...the "unbeatable" Kauto Star also failed to deliver, so thing i'll give it all a miss until the new year!

I went to see Hertha Berlin against St.Patricks Athletic in Dublin on September 30th.They were bobbins & very lucky not to lose.I am amazed that they are doing so well in the Bundesliga!

Good Luck.

I have to say there is better value than that knocking about this weekend, started of with an entirely predictable win for Barrow and Macc.

New manager York to win at Last one out turn the lights of Salisbury has to be value,

as does Histon beating Leeds 1-0

and God knows what Weymuff will do at home to Mansfield (are they still sh*t away from home)

oh and Morecambe will beat Cheltenham 2-1 apparently.

Did you have a small wager? I managed to get 16.5/1 on Histon beating Leeds 1-0
Title: Re: Like a bet?
Post by: Ballers on December 02, 2008, 11:19:00 PM
It was only a £10 wager on the 1-0 at 8/1. Clearly you betfaired it.

I however, am not a good gambler, if I start on betfair it'll be the road to ruin for me.

That 1-0 was absolutely nailed on, our 5 a side keeper on MOnday nights loves me now. He's a Leyton Orient fan and knows f**kall about non league football but took my advice.

I actually made a lot of money this weekend. Joe will confirm that I correctly called amongst others, FGR, Wrexham, Barrow, Macc, Histon and erm, R&D. Only had doubles on though. Oh Eastwood as well but lost out on Fleetwood and York.

Ballers told me on Friday afternoon that he thought Barrow,Macc,Wrexham,Forest Green and Histon would all win. An accumulater on those five would've been around 300/1. Shame i didn't back it!
Title: Re: Like a bet?
Post by: fuertes on December 03, 2008, 09:59:56 AM
I reckon that's the way to go, an accumulator with about five games that could go either way. I always end up mixing some close ones with a load of 'nailed on' games and lose  :D
Title: Re: Like a bet?
Post by: Jacko on December 03, 2008, 02:50:22 PM
think its consistency that counts if your betting on 3 to 4 good home wins every week chances are you will hit at least 1 out of 3 if you know what your doing,

once you start going above 4 teams your in trouble in my opinion cant really justify £10s and £20 on those bets

Oh yes and Gainsborough after hearing on Friday evening that they had signed Luke Beckett from Chesterfield!!

he played and scored the 3rd in a 3-0 win away at harrogate for whom Jmaes Dean got sent of for an elbow.

After hearing Redknapp really pushing that all he cares about is the league, I've gone for a fiver on Watford, City and Standard Liege tonight. £100 return if it comes in, although I'm readied for looking a complete fool compared to Jacko and Ballers  :)

Ok guys the fun starts tommorow with a small but solid £10 double Boudeux 1/2 and Napoli 8/13, nice to get a winning start also put pound on spurs bound cavenaghi 7/1 to get 1st goal for bordeux he's in hot form 8)

The main bet though is £20 treble  Colchester 8/11, St Johnstone 8/11, Leixoes 7/4 , £164.09 return 8) Aaah the joys of multi-national gambling ;D

Jacko has inspirred me to take up betting on matches again (im not good at it but i dnt bet big so it's all a laugh). This weekend im looking at the following for a bet,

Hoffenheim 4/1
Midtjylland 8/11
Rapid Viena - Austria Viena 11/5 (draw)
Edinburgh City 11/2
St Mirren 3/1
Gainsborough 6/4
Alty 7/2 (gotta have a bet on the lads)
Roma 8/11
Valencia 5/1

just can't narrow it down for a treble, help please  :)

Have to admit hoffenheim are a fantastic team and are decent odds at 4/1 but there a bit gung hoe and unlike the rest of the league munich have the quality to punish them,

that would tee up and roma/ midjyland in a treble nicely though

Alty 7/2 (gotta have a bet on the lads)

If there's one thing I've learnt over my many years on-off love affair with the accountants of the turf, it's that you never bet on your own team. There are two main reaasons for this:
1. Judgement is clouded by emotion and expectation.
2. If the result goes against the team, you end up blaming yourself for their downfall (or maybe that's just those of us who can't shake off the catholic guilt).

the only time i bet on alty was last season at home to weymouth and it was a rollercoaster of emotion, we scored, they scored, we scored, they scored then chris senior netted me a nice £95

LOL, I've been banned by the church and in any case should the result be unfavourable, I will take solace in laughing at the bigoted features of the gargoyle Evans. As my father used to say, "he's so bent, he couldn't lie straight in the bed".

Are you offering alternative absolution Mr Flynn? Bless me Flynny for I have sinned......
