Title: New arrival?
Post by: cheeky trucker on May 25, 2008, 05:29:54 PM
Taken from the Witton Albion Forum

Lots of rumours floating about re the manager and players, I know there is an information meeting next week, but having spent sometime this week on the Fylde coast, I hear Warlow and Peers to Fleetwood and Brownhill to Altrincham. There is also rumours on the non league grapevine about Jim's position - any clarification from anyone?

I think Brownhill to Altrincham is virtually a done deal, unfortunately.

Any truth in this I wonder?

I'd love to believe this is true - it would certainly solve one of our three problems on the field, I think.

from the FA website
"England C manager Paul Fairclough has today named a 16-man squad for the International Challenge Trophy Group A fixture against Finland in Helsinki next month.
The squad includes two players from outside the Conference National, with Witton Albion’s promising full back Liam Brownhill earning a shock call-up after impressing in a recent FA XI fixture. "

if we do get a decent left back i think we might stay up proper this season.

Most of the other players we have looked at over the years would have too but theres a small minority, or we also have had at Alty, who wouldn't give a sh*t sitting on the bench there collecting double what we offer !

According to Witton he's on a contract until the end of next season so he may not be joining Alty because i presume Witton will want a fee

If Peers and Warlow are going to Fleetwood. Fleetwood might be worth a bet to win Conference North. The 3 Witton players mentioned are outstanding players as well as the keeper( whose name I cannot recall at the moment). I disappointed for my Witton supporting friend that these players are leaving and they are not in Conference North.

I'm confused, are we just speculating that he has given us a verbal agreement?

would you not expect him to have a clause that he can leave to a club in the BSP.

I guess we'll see if the lad has any ambition to go higher  or desire to play for his howetown club then.  Certainly hope so, would be a cracking signing.

From Nantwich website...

"Meanwhile, Nantwich have completed the signings of left back Dave Tickle and midfielder Rob Hawthorne from former UniBond Premier Division club Leek Town. Tickle was formerly on the books of Manchester City whilst Hawthorne is a former Crewe Alexandra trainee. The latest signings take the number of new recruits at The Weaver Stadium to five, meanwhile Director of Football Clive Jackson and Head Coach Steve Davis are hopeful that Altrincham defender Darren Tinson will pledge his future to Nantwich Town this week whilst former Port Vale defender Charlie O’Loughlin has promised an answer soon to an offer made earlier last month."

Surely the only reason he'd go to a BS north club is for a better wage?  Playing at the likes of Oxford, Torquay and Cambridge must be massively appealing!?

thats the issue, longman you've hit the nail on the head, think of the signing on fee too, its a big carrot... we've got to remember its his job and his career that he's deciding but hopefully he'll make the right step

**the above post may contain comments that are patronising to other clubs**

Maybe he could be the first player ever to say:

"yeah the £x,xxx signing on fee would have been amazing, and I could have done with the extra £50 a week in my pocket.

However I want to play at the highest level I can and in the league one day.  I've got more chance at Alty with the higher profile and Setanta game here and there and more chance of getting in the England side again.  Plus, I don't really want to celebrate with 10 Droyslden fans at Alfreton, and 300 at home, I'd like to play in front on 1,000 most weeks and 4,000 some weeks"

Tell him Jacko, tell him..

I've cracked a 25 yarder...ooo who is arsed?

I was going to put some Droyslden pictures on of 10 on the terrace  but I don't want to upset Dave Pacio too much, especiallly as I now quite like the guy.

As Del Boy would say "you know it makes sense"

Surely the fact he's from Alty may have a little bit a bearing on his decision to won't it!?  It's a shame if it doesn't anyway.

These are two of my favourite all time Alty photos but the home one is just brilliant, more so because of the photo in the sponsors lounge of Bandy. THe people on it know what I mean, I can't find it anywhere and I'll leave it for a thread that Liam Brownhill isn't reading I bet you are reading this, now sort your head out pal and get to Moss Lane, if you chase an extra £ somewhere it will be piss poor and you won't make a decent career I think

Hi,
Im speaking on behalf of Liam Brownhill and im glad to say that Liam will be joining alty, hopefully the deal will be concluded by Friday after the FA confirmed that he is a free agent. There was interest from other clubs but the chance to play for his local team is to good of an oppurtunity to turn down.

I knew it wasnt worth getting too excited about Brownhill. I'll be happy when this deal is concluded, whether it involves us or not. Hopefully us though!!!

According to Leek and Buxton sites we've signed 25 year old midfielder Anthony Danylyk from Leek. He was their club captain last season. Leek however were relegated from the Unibond Premier last season, I hope this lad was a massive exception for them!

Adam Yates who played in a a pre season friendly for us a couple of years back but opted to go full time with Morecambe came from Leek who had also finished in the bottom half of the unibond the prevous season. He was a class act so lets hope for something similar if we have signed this lad.

I'm confused, Witton say he is under contract and would require a fee to move anywhere, yet 'Luke Barlow' has posted on here that he has decided to join Alty, also the main site only says confirmations of a midfielder and a centre back to come, not a left back!

Unless the main site is just being crafty and pretending it's another midfielder because they don't want to alert anyone to the fact it could be Brownhill!?

I dunno  ???
Title: Re: New arrival?
Post by: Saughall Robin on June 06, 2008, 04:33:32 PM
It's beginning to look like "luke Barlow" is a troll. Hope I'm wrong - we could really do with Brownhill.
Lane, Brownhill and Young is a great start - another great centre back and we'll have a fighting chance of getting some clean sheets every few weeks!

PS: Don't suppose we could kidnap Ryan could we?  ::)
