Not sure what to make of that!
On the plus side - Home draw, big crowd, chance of more money if on the telly.
Negatives - Millwall!! (crowd control may set the club back a few bob!)
Overall - great to have a big cup tie back at Moss Lanr - It's been a while!

torquay vs yeovil possible live game......but Alty would be the more authentic cup match

Bloody hell...

Looking at the draw though, I would be amazed if our match wasn't televised.

We're Garth Crooks's pick of the draw. For what that is worth. Namely nothing.

Garth Crooks picked us out as tie of the round
Pallister went for Torquay Yoevil

I reckon its between those two for the live game

good draw for altrincham if you consider attendance and money. similar to FGR with rotherham united but we have to get past eastleigh on tuesday night first.

There will be 3/4 live games I think, between Sky and the BBC. Surely we'll be one.

Hi guys.

Just to let you know, there won't be any trouble any more, only a few idiots are like that at our club now, and they won't be allowed to go. This will be season ticket holders only. It should be on the BBC, but I'm looking forward to coming to your ground.

See you there.  ;)

What a match!!

Will definitely cost us to police it, as for no nutters at Millwall anymore - that wasn't what the sky commentator was saying today when they went 4-0 down against Leeds!!

Anyway, must be a televised game - Giant killing Alty against League 1 opposition!!

Title: Re: Alty vs Millwall
Post by: MFCMark on October 27, 2007, 05:32:50 PM
And by the way, don't think this is a forgone conclusion, we're starting to play well again, but we still aint all that.

Yeah, well, people got tickets from other people, such as touts. We won't get as much of an allocation for you as we did today, so no idiots will be there. Unless they decide to storm the ground.

I've been to Millwall, its not the bear pit its portrayed to be. Leeds is one thing, there is history and gang rivalry there, there's no bad blood between us and them. It will be properly policed and stewarded and things should be fine.

Unless of course we win..............

We'll be the main game on MOTD probably, if it's not on TV.

Our away results don't reflect our form, we're starting to come into our own now. Southend away we were crap, but apart from that, we haven't done to bad.

I expect a good game, but I still expect us to put 2 or 3 past you.

I'll go for 1-3.

Unlike our opponents in the last round, I think there are few Alty fans who would expect us to beat a team two divisions higher, and beat Millwall, but we'll give it a good go! Conference football is very different to the old "plucky part-timers" of years gone by. Although we are one of the few semi-pro teams left in the Conference, we are used to playing full time teams every week so there isn't the gulf in fitness that used to come into play. Quality, however, is a different matter.

I hope its the game shown Live on MOTD. Garth Brooks, the bbc football pundit said that he was very interested in our draw he said "so far this season Millwall haven't been on form". Anything can happen its the FA Cup.

Millwall have the best fans in the world. The support at the cup final in 2004 was unbelievable. Over the years the hooligan element have caused more than their fair share of trouble but anything involving Millwall will always attract publicity just because of the name. Having said that i would still feel a lot safer as an away fan at Leeds rather than Millwall.

Regardless of where it is, there will be Riot police there, remember a few years ago Leeds and Millwall fans all started fighting, one of them got Stabbed. They have got a bad reputation, but they cant be as bad as West Ham, and any way do you rele think they will want to cause trouble at a non-league football ground in the first round of the FA CUP?

Unfortunately, Millwall reputation precedes them. That Luton riot was in 85 for Gods sake but the fact that we're already discussing the dangers is a shame really.

And anyway, they can't be as bad as Bishop Auckland.  :o

I think we need to stop all this talk of trouble and violence and let the people at both our clubs sort out the most appropriate safety arrangements.

The last thing we want is to put off the floating supporter or to deny entry to the genuine decent supporters of Millwall. At the same time we don't want any of the 'Burberry idiots' from our local clubs (inc a so called rebel club) from gatecrashing our game.
I am sure that between the club secretary's, Darren's team and the local plod, that the day can be made a success.

should there be a replay, if you come by coach, your coach takes you to within 10 feet of the away turnstyles.  If you want a beer before the game, beer is sold on the concourses.

If you go by train, there is a special walkway from south Bermondsey train station, that takes away fans only, from the station to the turnstyles.

If you want to visit a pub beforehand, go to ones by London Bridge.  The train from London Bridge to South bermondsey only takes 5 minutes

Garth Crooks picked us out as tie of the round
Pallister went for Torquay Yoevil

I reckon its between those two for the live game

Radio 5 picked Billericay v Swansea and Hereford v Leeds as the top ties.

Stabbings? What a load of bullsh*t. If you got a replay, you'd be in the centre of the North Stand, miles away from us. The only goading you'd get is from the idiots with half a brain cell to the left of you.

I read in the paper earlier somebody said Staines Town V Stockport would be a a 'tie to watch out for.'

Staines beat Woking I think.

Staines: too many jokes.

e.g. If Staines win it would be one of the terrible Staines on Stockport's FA Cup history.

I'd take that!

Got a mates wedding on the 10th, really hoping to see the Millwall game moved so I can do both, bit of a bugger really.

This tie is THE plum tie of the round.  If the BBC / SKY don't pick this as a live fixture then they are off their rockers.

Billerbloodyricky my arse.
