I'm led to believe that Kosylo is out for some time. Jackson and Hulme both sat last night out. Where are Colclough and Baines ?
-
What is up with Kosylo?
Really need Colclough, Hulme and Kosylo all fit for the start of the season.
-
How did they line up last night in the midfield - I assume Osborne was the one pushed up to No10?

Thought I saw Colclough sat with the subs last night, a few seats along from Hulme?
-
Colclough was definitely there last night.
-
I think it's just a case of fitting in the trialists isn't it?
I mean we all know what we get from Kosylo, Colclough and Hulme don't we?
-
I do find it odd that Kosylo and Colclough haven't played 1 minute in the 3 games we've had
-
I've been told that Kosylo has sustained an injury which will keep him out of action until 2023.
I do hope that it wasn't a result of carrying all of those Harvey Nichols shopping bags in those pre-season countdown videos....

No, notwithstanding being released, Johnson is still currently hanging on.

That's what I'd heard Cult - ACL apparently ☹️
-
In the first half last night we solved our no.10 problem by playing without one. Dinanga did surpringly well in the circumstances.

Would be a huge blow. Gutted, if true.
In that case, would like to see Pringle have a few games No.10.

That's a huge blow for sure, if true. Gutted.
We need to go into the market for one - unless the plan is to play a holding midfielder and two number 8's instead, which we've certainly got the personnel for.
-
I wonder why Phil didnt mention the kosylo injury in his interview
-
If it really is an ACL, it's going to be a long way back for the lad at 30ish.
Let's hope for the best.
I certainly send him all my best wishes.
Hurry back Matty!
-
If Kosy really is injured and given Brad Jackson's dubious fitness past, it would make an 18-man squad look even more sparse. It may be that we begin the season with a number of loanees. Not ideal but was always likely to be the issue this season.
-
I suspect there's still a lot of recruitment to be done, as teams are taking a look at players over the friendlies.
His name has been done to death on this forum, but Elliott Newby is getting game time for Stockport over the friendlies but the supporters haven't taken to his performances and suspect he'll be deemed surplus to requirements - especially given the recruitment they've made around the attacking positions.
The Stoke game being played behind closed doors suggests to me that we're taking a look at potential loanees there too, and I suspect we'll also be shipping out one or two of our own pretty swiftly if they don't make the grade over the friendlies.
Speaking of injuries, perhaps it opens up the chances of Connor Kirby being taken on again - who knows.
-
I was expecting Connor Kirby to sign but given our options in that area, I can't see it happening now.
I hope you are right and we can get one or two more on board - there are definitely one or two in the squad not up to it.

Well they're certainly going for it this season!
He'll be a great midfield partner for jake.
-
Whoever he has signed for I知 delighted the lad has recovered from that horrific injury he sustained at Wealdstone last September.
Great to see you back fella. Enjoy your time at Buxton.

Good gig for him - doesn't he live Rotherham way ?

Maybe Barnsley Phil but both are just up the road

Buxton are assembling a handy looking squad, good to see . Rooting for them and Curzon this season .

I'd love to see both of them do really well this year. Apart from anything else for the sake of seeing all our old boys succeed again.
How great would it be for one of them to get promoted! Buxton seem to be well backed so would probably be the better bet to stay up.

Yes, there does seem to be a tendency for leading clubs, such as Brackley and Boston United, to constantly fail to get promotion, while either relegated clubs, or newly promoted ones, make a real effort to go up. Buxton do seem to fit that pattern and would get a thousand watching them if they are doing well.

I bet half the teams down South haven稚 a clue where Buxton is, they would be in for a shock if Buxton did come up to our league and they had to travel up there on a cold winter Tues night

Yep, one of the coldest games I ever went to was when our game at Macclesfield was off on New Year's Day one year , but Buxton v Colwyn Bay went ahead. Mark Dempsey was playing for the visitors, before he joined us, and went off with mild hypothermia.
There's an artificial pitch there now, so games will be on, provided the pitch isn't actually covered with snow, and the away team can actually get to Buxton. It does seem very odd talking about freezing Buxton in today's climate!

One of my all time sporting tales, Buxton...snow...June https://www.thecricketer.com

It was by all accounts the first time the great Clive Lloyd had ever seen snow !
-
Gutted that it has now been confirmed that Kosylo will be out for a long time.
Do we know if Colclough will be ready to start the season?Looking thin on attacking / creative players.
Could play Pringle no.10 or have a midfield 3 of Marriott, Osborne and Lundstram.
Right wide player is priority.

Exactly correct.. My worry would be we're looking like we're going with Gribbin.
If we're going 4-3-3, at least two of the front three need to be scoring over a dozen apiece. Only Colclough seems capable of that at the moment. Hope I'm wrong.

We haven't signed Gribbin - unless you know something I don't !
-
I'm not aware that we've signed him but some of the other trialists seem to have gone and he's still with us hence my concern.
-
I can't imagine we'd be taking lads to Isle of Man for sqaud bonding if we werent making him an offer.
-
I thought he went to the Isle of man and scored? Wouldn't that suggest we have or will be considering making him an offer?

In the back of the Toby Mullarkey video at training i think you can see colclough playing in what seems like an 11 a side game, hopefully this means his suspected injury isn't too bad and that he'll be ready for the start of the season

Phil was already quoted somewhere about it being a question of why risk it. He is apparently in the best condition of his time at Alty I'd expect to see him in a friendly soon
