Opening Day - (A) London
August BH Monday - (H) Oldham
Boxing Day - (H) Halifax
Christmas - Solihull / Wrexham (A)
NYD - Halifax (A)
GF / Easter - (A) Oldham Solihull
Final Day
Opening Day - I can't make it so an unappealing away game please. Yeovil maybe.
Halifax / Oldham seems to be the natural pairing for Boxing Day/NYD but I imagine that the relevant police forces, and their overtime rates, will have input on that decision.

Aren't we due an opening day fixture at home?
Or doesn't it work like that?

United are at home that weekend. We are given one option to avoid one premier league club in our case and United have been our choice in previous seasons.

Ah. So it's away then eh?
Don't say it's Torquay again. We're off to the brother in laws in Newton abbot (8 miles away) for the weekend in a fortnight so another weekend in short order catering for yours truly and Mrs S could well be out of the question! 😂😂

The rumour I’ve heard is Halifax over Christmas but other than that no idea then obviously we will be away on the opening day somewhere miles away. Just hope a few of the juicy local-ish ones can be Saturday games too.

It's good that our website fixture list includes the FA Cup final. I know we have gone full time but that feels a bit optimistic.

I wonder what the rationale behind pairing us with Halifax over Christmas / New Year would be... wouldn't have been the logical choice.

Policing I reckon. The bill for both us or ‘Fax if we entertained Oldham at Xmas would be huge. Be nice after last Christmas as well not have thousands of County/Wrexham fans demanding tickets and trying to blag in our end.

My thoughts exactly. They know the fans will still go, and I assume they might look at televising it too.

The south doesn't make much sense either - there's two Essex clubs, two Kent clubs, two Hampshire clubs and two Surrey clubs - but pairing them all up would have been too obvious, clearly.

I can now get bladdered on New Year's Eve without having to worry about the following day's footy. I said I'd never do Halifax again, and I meant it.

We'd have a huge crowd v Oldham whenever it was played. Not having them over Xmas and then having the Xmas bumper crowd for someone else actually works in our favour in my view

I certainly take One Foot in the Grave's point about the stewarding at Halifax last year, but trains on New Year's Day are normally good after a slightly later start.  Going by previous years, the game could well be shifted to the 2nd anyway.

100% behind Phil on this.

Absolute over the top, unwarranted, heavy handed stewarding last August.

In two minds myself whether to give them £20 again - but have friends from this town and enjoy the visit to the town.

Worst match day experience for a long time - combined with being totally outplayed on the pitch if we're being honest.

If it weren't for the wonderful Three Pigeons, the entire day would have been a disaster.

I didn’t go last season but have been several times before and had a great day out (three pigeons and all). Reading the comments about the stewarding last season I’m reconsidering going on NYD.
Did the stewards manhandle anyone or verbally abuse our fans? Can anyone be more specific please as to why some of those who went last season feel so strongly about not returning this season please? I don’t fancy going if it’s going to be an ordeal.

You know what, if I can make an excuse for them - we were still in a weird COVID situation, they weren't serving food and drink - which in turn led to a fan or two trying to smuggle bits in. Fair enough, have a word - but they were heavy handed, trying to forcibly eject people rather than just turn a blind eye, or at best just confiscate the drinks like anyone with a shred of common sense would do - and all they did was cause the situation to flare up more than it ever should.

There was one particular steward wanting to make a celebrity of himself and fight all of us; if he's not around and there's food/drink available, it'll be fine.

Oldham on Good Friday should be a great day out on the tram. Albeit it’s a bit of a trek from the town centre. The aways at Oldham, Halifax, York, Wrexham and Notts all being 3pms is decent. Just a shame that the notch that would be Scunny is midweek.

To me, it looked like the police/stewards were trying to fight and shove  our supporters. I was stood further along from them and got the knock on effect, which I could have done without. They made Ru$hden's stewarding seem reasonable.

Saying that, I don't suppose anyone sat at the front would be directly affected.

I'd agree with that. I was sat near the front, and wasn't directly affected, apart from seeing stewards on the touchline staring at the crowd in an aggressive, confrontational manner, and periodically walking up into the stand to drag people out of the ground.

If you are a friend of Chris Millington, maybe you could have a word?

Sadly this was my experience too. To see a row of intimidating stewards directly facing the Alty fans for the entire match made me feel as if I had to put my hand up and seek permission to go to the loo!

As for the argy-bargy at the back, I was as disgusted by the police as much as the stewards. They seemed to do the stewards’ bidding, no questions asked.

All very unsavoury, totally un-Alty and absolutely unnecessary. They let Halifax down massively.

Unfortunately, whilst I would like to vote with my feet and stay away, The Shay is nearer to me than Moss Lane, so I will probably be at the away fixture again next season. Come on Alty!
