Really frustrating to have to watch us defend again last night. It killed any home fan atmospherefirst half.
For the first 25 minutes, there was a maximum of 25 Chesterfield fans who stood in the final 1/3rd of the pop side, 2nd half they filled it whilst having plenty of space on the away end.
There is absolutely no need for that space to be given up and my matchday experience shouldn't be hampered for the comfort of away fans.
I would understand if it was required by our stewards to create segregation, but last night we gave up nearly half the pitch perimeter to a crowd of 800.

100% agree with this.

Agree with this. No need to give up that much space at all
-
Except that they didn't know how many would turn up and pay on the gate.

They new that the Golf Rd holds is it 1,600, so never an issue.
-
I thought they'd sold 6-700 tickets. Surely the away end capacity is getting on for double that? Lots of room for pay on the dayers?
I can see why if it's pouring down but not otherwise.
-
I think it was a difficult one for the club as they assumed Chesterfield would bring more then they did hence them getting the same level of allocation & space as Stockport did. Once it became clear on the day they’d ‘only’ sold 650 in advance (and that presumably included the 180 in the family stand too) then I think it was pretty clear that even with a couple of hundred POTG walk ups that they weren’t going to need the Pop Side overspill & they should have been kept to the Chequers End terrace.
I’m sure lessons will be learned & they need to be quickly as Aldershots fans are absolutely fuming with their club at the moment & basically on a 2 day bender round Manchester & Alty this weekend so the stewarding operation at that end of the ground needs to be switched on from the off.
-
The away end should be online only so you can see how many are coming. If an away fan decides they want to come on the night late on they buy online even if they do it outside the ground. If it’s a case of “Let’s not upset someone with no access to a smart phone either of their own or another supporter then so be it”. They won’t be back again until next season. Not a good idea to rankle the week in week out home support some of whom travel the length and breadth of the country so Joe Chesterfield can watch his team being beaten because he turned up on a whim.
If you go away with Alty where there is no provision for cash sales you sort it out beforehand. Aldershot are talking 800 for Saturday. Have we sold 800 or is it 250 online sales and 550 may materialise on the day?
When I turn up on Saturday is there any particular part of the HOME end I shouldn’t stand just in case Fred Aldershot can’t decide if he’s coming or not. Strewth!

if it’s raining tough. I’ve got wet in away ends and it turns out it’s only rain water 💦
-
The past two weeks I've seen clubs post SOLD OUT away allocations on Facebook groups; those clubs know the value of home advantage.
We've a lot to do in the club to win the 1% if we are to achieve the dream of competing for EFL.

Good for the complexion so my wife says (when she’s not rolling her eyes at me) 😆

Agree.
Equally as frustrating to see them take over the cordoned-off back section of the terrace, which has been left respectfully vacant by Altrincham fans, only to have absolutely nothing said to them by the stewards.
And why was Rocky Robin antagonising them at half-time? Bizarre.
-
............And why was Rocky Robin antagonising them at half-time?
It was either them or Mad Vlad Putin
-
We do it time after time after time . Crazy . We never listen it seems to the fans

Planning for this game envisaged high numbers of Chesterfield fans. 1400 tickets were sent to them.
Yesterday we knew just over 700 tickets had been sold.
Part of the Pop side was set aside as an overspill area as we didn’t know how many Chesterfield fans would pay on the gate.
Shortly before kick off with the away end filling up, large numbers of fans on the perimeter fence by the snack bar and away fans still queuing to get in, the decision was taken to release the Pop side contingency area.
I don’t have Cctv or electronic turnstile counting to tell me how the stands are filling up.
At half time, I left the control room and supervised the stewards evicting Chesterfield fans from the cordoned off part of the stand.
A large chunk of my time in the second half was taken up with the welfare of a paralytic juvenile away fan. This turned into a saga of third parties not willing to take responsibility for the unaccompanied, drunk fan.
-
Nigel, why are we giving them 1400 tickets if that is greater than the combined away end, and family stand?
Might be a bit squished but if the capacity of the away is tight, make them find room.
We shouldn't have to watch the game from Golf Road at the expense of accommodating travelling support, or the comfort of support.
-
You repeatedly make a big thing of this but you wouldn't be able to move from one stand to another if we got promoted.
-
All the more reason to make the most of the opportunity for the next (insert number based on personal optimism levels) years!
-

We'll be able to teleport ourselves from stand to stand by the time we get in the league.
-
100% right behind Hashtag on this one.
For us Popsiders we also had to listen to their chants and singing as well >:(
-

I also can't have a pint when I could at the level below, if we get there, I'll adjust.

We haven't been promoted
If I was at Old Trafford I could also be 150ft away from the touchline...….so shall I watch from the allotment.. 8)
-
Jack, ask Bill why we offered Chesterfield 1400 tickets.

Jack, ask Bill why we offered Chesterfield 1400 tickets.
Gladly, in the mean time, as safety officer, can you confirm the capacity of the Chequers end and the family stand?
Does this exceed 1400?
I note the family stand is 190 and Hale end is 1,434 according to the last updated website guide. 1624.
Even losing 15% due to Trafford, 1400 would fit on there using fag packet maths.
-
Jack, I’m sure you have the right figures.
The true capacity of the Chequers end is c800-1000 depending how friendly the fans are feeling.
The calculated, theoretical capacity is wildly optimistic.

You could put in a couple of rows of carrots at half time 🤣

To Hashtag Alty. Talking about beer, if taking alcohol is banned from taking outside then why do we have to have plastic glasses in the clubhouse? SBL

I imagine to stop people taking bottles in pockets onto the terraces or people attacking each other with the bottles in the watmore lounge . On this note have we sold all our tables and chairs from the lounge there was literally no where to sit on Tuesday ?? 👀😆... Or is this to stop us throwing chairs at each other as well or sneaking them out onto the terraces in our pockets ?? 😆😆

Can anyone advise the best time to go in CSH on Saturday when I can get a seat whilst avoiding and flying bottles, chairs and any other objects people can get their hands on? What time is the mass brawl? Serious question.

I think your safe I've not seen a good brawl in the bar since half of it was closed due to Karate

I'm not entirely sure, perhaps Trafford implemented? Maybe it saves a glass collector or washing then?
Personally, I'd have polycarbonate glasses, cool artwork, and get them sponsored by a brewer or local business

That was because only half the room was open until 7pm as there is a kids martial arts class on Tuesday nights I think so a lot of the tables & chairs were stacked up still in the corner & they obviously didn’t have the time/staff to put them all in place. Don’t think that is generally an issue on Saturdays.

I did notice the clock in the CSH is now working again. Much improved match day experience.

my version of the truth is more fun

Wasn't the David Pace altercation the nearest we came to a mass brawl, D Pace v the rest! that was in the old bar if I remember rightly.
-
The biggest ever mass brawl has to be bishop Auckland . End of

Any news on that away end and family stand figure Nigel?
