Title: FA Trophy
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on November 28, 2021, 10:24:30 AM
I'm guessing the 3rd round draw is on Monday. Does anyone know what time it's scheduled for ?

1pm according to Ollie Bayliss.  It should be regionalised in two zones.

If there's any possibility that the Golf Road will still be shut I want an away tie

Don't book your train yet. Forest at home on the Saturday. This could go to Friday or Sunday.

Oh well. We can concentrate on the league! 😉

PS. And getting our ground sorted for our full time promotion season next year.

Notts County will almost certainly be concentrating on the league.

Hull. I can't see that as a high profile game. Personally I can't do friday or saturday so hoping it does move.

Forrest and County never play at home on the same day

I'm struggling to think of a previous occasion when Alty have played at that time on a Saturday evening.

I'll leave it to see how the weather turns out, but I might consider going by train on Saturday morning, take in Forest v Hull, couple of beers and a bite in Wetherspoons Trent Bridge,
before the game and stay the night. I can then have a few beers in Nottingham on the Sunday - another city with some really good boozers.

Likewise. The closest I can think of is a Friday night game at Burton Albion about 15 years ago (I think due to stewarding issues, if you can imagine such a thing).

Really disappointed by all involved in the decision.

Even 7pm would allow fans to get home. I hope our board do all they can to move this to 7pm to allows fans to travel to the game.

Even a 7pm kick-off might not do it because Trophy matches at this stage go straight to pens if they're all square at full time. So with the last train to Manchester at 21.16, that might not work.

Sunday 3pm would be the only viable solution really.

Notts County have a televised match on the Tuesday evening following so they won't have wanted to play on the Sunday.

Not sure why the get to dictate really, if Sunday works for us because they can't do 3pm, then we should crack on.

What's wrong with a lunch time kick off, everyone can get there AND get home.

7.30pm is simply a joke

Nottingham Police couldn't cope with two sets of fans, one lot leaving the ground as another set are making for the neighbouring stadium. If County are playing on Tuesday, it looks like this is as good as it gets unfortunately.

Didn't Everton play at Goodison Park the same day we played at Anfield?

Very different times.

They did, and Manchester United and Manchester City were both at home at the same time too. As you say, different times,

I don't really know how these things work but the truth is that we can do Saturday evening in terms of our playing schedule whereas they can't really do Sunday.

I do think it would have helped if we'd put something in our announcement of the new kick-off time to the effect of 'we know this is going to be tricky for our fans but we had no choice and here's why'.

I think my reply wasnt practical, more a comment on the unfairness. Bit like choosing which end to attack and choosing who kicks off.

If they couldn't do 3pm, we'd be doing them a favour, we should really (in an ideal world) get the Saturday lunch, night, Sunday or Friday.

(this is my monthly reminder that I'd love to hear more from Rob and Phil combined on footballing World, just how these things pan out BTS)

Wouldn't that match get postponed if the match ends in a draw with the replay being on the Tuesday/Wednesday?

There are no replays at this stage of the competition.

If the teams are level after 90 minutes, the game goes straight to a penalty shoot-out in order to determine the winner.

Play them at midnight on Christmas Eve for me. Turn up, knock them out of the competition and then have the discussion about when kick off should have been.

P.S could the club put on discounted coach travel for fans that don’t drive and would miss the last train home?

I imagine the old ‘Can I just get the coach back please’ routine might be popular for a few people.

Does anyone know how many tickets we have bought and has the 2nd coach been filled?

I feel that we are going to look like a rather forlorn lot tucked away in a corner of what appears to be a large stand that will be otherwise empty.
