If you want a ticket for Saturday from the official Alty website it says SOLD OUT.

Surely the latest assessment should be done before Friday and I am hoping they will increase capacity?
I need a few tickets.

You might be lucky.

It would make sense to stop sales if we've reached the current limit but you would hope progress is ongoing and there would be a review on Friday afternoon.

It's a good job the Technique stadium had decent floors last night. It could have been twisted ankles all around after that equaliser.

This is nuts when did they go on sale and why are we giving so many to Southend?

very interesting this question I am keen to know how many we have and where we are positioned . You can only think we have put them in the Chequers end and we have the family stand main stand and golf road areas . You can't segregate chequers end so that makes sense . But I do hope we are not limiting our own support at home as it's critical . Only other option would have been they only got given the family stand . Time will tell

If you want a ticket for Saturday from the official Alty website it says SOLD OUT.

If you investigate further, it says:

"This game is now sold out according to the capacities we currently have in place."

I suspect that it's a case of the club having suspended ticket sales until Trafford Council advise us what this week's capacity actually comprises.

I think we just have to accept that this is (very much) an on-going situation and the capacity might be fluid for some time to come.  Before we call foul on how many tickets Southend fans may, or may not, be allocated, I think it most likely that the Board will be doing all they can to maximise the number of Alty fans allowed into the ground.

Yes-this is ‘sold out’ in the same way Gateshead was. They’ve basically capped it at 1494 but my understanding is that tomorrow is the latest D-Day with Trafford Council and we should know for sure by tomorrow night what the actual permitted capacity will be for Southend.

Please also bear in mind that Season Ticket holders have purchased "a ticket" for every home league fixture.

This needs to be factored in to any calculations

It is disappointing the communication from the club is abit haphazard. It was a great detailed statement released last Friday, but nothing since,  not even just a brief one to say the capacity for the Southend game is still to be decided. The Southend tickets went back on sale, but then were pulled. Are they going back on sale or will the capacity be limited to who has got a ticket already. As already mentioned you have to factor in season ticket holders which wasn't the case for the Gateshead game and also Southend will have a bigger away support. The statement also mentioned the opportunity to question the board tomorrow, is this going ahead? All these ground issues, which seems to have come out of the blue, can't be easy for the club to resolve to the satisfaction of the council, but maybe a more regular update to the fans would help.

There will be an opportunity to ask members of the board about ground issues that are currently being dealt with at the Christmas Party tomorrow night:-

It is a bit late then Brian I am afraid being less than 24 hours before the Southend game.  The Altrincham fans around the town and further afield wish to know some answers now!

People work all week and wish to switch off at the weekend, the crowds are increasing and rightly so with Parkinson in charge.  All this fannying around from the club being silent isn't doing anyone any good.

So now we have to pay to attend a function to find out critical information regarding the Club ? Some MP's are quite adept at "Cash for Questions". Is this Alty Sleaze ?

There's always the AGM at 7:00pm on Friday.

I'm not quite sure why you would want to spend an ostensible Christmas party asking questions about cracks in terraces...

It’s half past six on Thursday, if it was the other way around we’d be outraged. A statement needs to be made either highlighting the councils lack of urgency or we can start selling tickets again. People from around the town that have just started attending on a regular basis will be lost for another generation with this. I’ve had people mithering me for tickets all day

The good news is not of his making. Perhaps there are a few things that need to be signed off before the council will up the capacity. We shall have to wait and see.

It's the silence that I find disconcerting. If we are waiting on Trafford's decision then say it. If we need to do more then say it. At least keep the fans updated one way or another, not least by now.

And I agree that a commercial event which fans pay to attend is not a proper platform for discussing the safety and capacity of the ground.

Frustrating given the excellent statement last Friday.

Not me, but some people have day jobs. Communicating with fans is important but so is earning money, some of which is invested in the club. The chairmen have dayjobs and they won't be doing 37 hour weeks.

True, but we could probably do with a holding statement, to say that a fuller one will be delivered on Friday afternoon, or whenever.  A lot will depend, I am sure, on the timing of any decision by the Trafford SAG.

Strikes me that TBC are playing by the marquis of queensberry and the club don't know what to say until they're told something definite.
I wouldn't blame the club in this case, they're the victims too here and any comments they make could be misconstrued by the council.
For the board it's a lose-lose situation. Let's cut them some slack until Friday.

It does sound rather strange that the council seem to be acting in a high handed fashion if the Golf road and Pop side are sound then what is the problem.

Thanks to the co Chairman for the update, I expect he is as frustrated as we all are…

Hopefully normal service will resume on the 11th Dec..

Given that a certain amount of work has been done, but the capacity remains unchanged, although, understandably, Southend have a larger proportion of the ground than  Gateshead did, it seems as if the new work has not been checked for whatever, if any, reason. If so, that's very poor on the council's part.

I had a suspicion this was coming. It's not down to the club, but if the person who contacted the council in the way they did is connected to the football club, they really have a lot to answer for.

Having read and digested the club statement and a reply from a councillor to an Alty fan, the issue now will be getting the inspector to attend the ground and sign off the repairs I assume. Likely he wasn't available at short notice to attend the ground as will have other appointments scheduled in...

Personally would have set the meeting up prior and strived to get the repair's done in time.

This fixture should have been switched. I'm not going to take this as an opportunity to club bash because I do believe that we are doing everything we can to make this work, but I can't help but feel that 8 working days to get the work done, reviewed and signed off was cutting it fine. That's from the outside looking in, though. It just seems that these types of things always involve a lot of dragged feet.

Trafford Council needs to post a warts and all account of proceedings for their own sake, if it's legal to do so when this is all ongoing. We need their side of this. Andrew Western has said in an email to a fan that he has reviewed the processes and procedures that are being followed and he is happy with them. From their side, it would appear that there's far more to it than we are letting on. Just how bad is it, then, if that's the case? We can take it. We know the ground is old and tired. It would be far less damaging to our reputation to publicise that fact than to have us messing around with fans, both loyal and floating, who deserve answers - not least because many are members of the electorate that vote them in.

This fixture should have been switched.
Can see the sentiment, but I doubt that Southend would have agreed to at such short notice as it wouldn't have given them time to get their commercial side lined up. And that's assuming the league would have allowed it.

I dont think switching is a valid option.

Why would Southend agree to something when (as with Gateshead) they may benefit from the situation.
It would affect matchday operations - match sponsors etc
It could be argued that this is of our own making.

Short notice is only a problem at this stage. The request could have been logged at 9 am last Wednesday. Given the league accepted our move to Broadhurst Park last season I am sure that they would have at least entertained the idea and allowed us to put a case forward, a good case at that.

Southend and The National League have every right to reject the idea, and I agree that Southend may well have done so for the reasons Hemel Alty states, but we haven't even entertained it. I find that disappointing personally as it was a potential fix.

If it is to be played at the JDS, it could be an idea for season ticket holders to confirm their attendance by a certain time so that their places can be made available to others who may not have been able to go.
To start the process, myself and Mrs S will not be able to go so there's two seats more available.

You would have to do it the other way around if it's possible at all. People who have already got a ticket which they have been told guarantees admission should not have to jump through another hoop to confirm this, if they were even aware of it with such short notice.

On the other hand, if people who have season or match tickets cannot attend, this would be a smaller number and they could contact the club to confirm this; it would have to be the club, as they are the ones selling tickets and controlling admission, but it would be another task for someone to manage.

As a season ticket holder, I do not want to be having to confirm my attendance at each game; I want to turn up without having to think about it. This would also cause additional admin for the club.

However, I welcome the idea of tickets not going to waste - so fans could obviously offer their tickets to mates if they can't attend or failing that, use this forum or social media to share tickets with other trusted fans.

Council reduces Altrincham FC capacity following serious concerns over crowd safety

Trafford Council has reduced the capacity at Altrincham FC following serious concerns over crowd safety.

The capacity was reduced after Council officers identified concerns with structural and safety arrangements at Altrincham FC’s Moss Lane stadium.

The reduction was put in place two weeks’ ago and will remain for Saturday’s game versus Southend United. However, the Council is in close contact with the club to ensure improvements to the ground are made before the capacity can go back to normal again.

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said:

“Trafford Council has taken the difficult decision to reduce the capacity at the stadium following safety concerns which were first raised with the club several weeks ago. The Council took the decision to reduce capacity to protect the safety of supporters.

“Environmental Health Officers visited the ground due to issues that had been raised in relation to the safety of the Fan Zone. A full review of the stadium was undertaken which has identified further significant concerns with current safety arrangements.

“We are working closely with the club to ensure that the required improvements are undertaken to allow the capacity to increase as soon as it is safe to do so. Although these actions have come at a time when spectator numbers have increased at the club, safety must remain our number one priority.”

“We are working closely with the club to ensure that the required improvements are undertaken to allow the capacity to increase as soon as it is safe to do so. Although these actions have come at a time when spectator numbers have increased at the club, safety must remain our number one priority.”

Note to Trafford Botchup Council. The day I rely on you to look after my safety is the day I finally give up the will to live. I’ll leave it there. 🤬🤬🤬

Trafford Roads are amongst the most dangerous in the UK, but nothing is done about them, shocking really.

I am so pleased that someone mentioned Trafford's 'roads' before me.

The hypocrisy is astounding.

If it is to be played at the JDS, it could be an idea for season ticket holders to confirm their attendance by a certain time so that their places can be made available to others who may not have been able to go.
To start the process, myself and Mrs S will not be able to go so there's two seats more available.
100 quid each on ebay
Would you accept £99?

One thing we notice walking down Queens road and  Stamford Park road to the ground is how uneven the footpaths are and the need to squeeze past trees on the footpaths which have risen up due the roots growing upwards.

Surely this is a more of a public safety problem than a few trip hazards in a football ground which is accessed on an average of about once a fortnight over the year.

I would be very interested to hear the councils thoughts on that one.. I won’t hold my breath for a response.

How do we know we didn’t ask for a switch of venue. Boot on the other foot I’d have been annoyed if they had tried to paint us as the bad guys for not agreeing to a switch. If I was Southend I’d rather play in front of a half empty home ground than a full one. Why would they possibly agree to put themselves out rearranging all their commercial deals just to remove an advantage they had. We are nice to other clubs generally and I don’t think even we would have done that at 2 or 3 weeks notice. Last season it was the only way to get games played and at the start of this season it was all arranged before the fixtures came out. Entirely different scenario

I put in a Freedom of Information Request just after the sh*tstorm started. I've asked how many claims the Council have had in the past 12 months, how many were upheld, and how many involved them making a settlement.

Watch this space (eventually).

Could the match be called off or has it calmed down a bit?

It could have been worse, Lacie is playing with a couple of layers on, for Altrincham Black Kites V the Red Kites in a friendly match.

Providing she does not get hypothermia, we will be there this pm. we are lucky, I have a season ticket and I bought Brooke and Lacie's as soon as they went on sale. From what I gathered though, we should be less restricted for the next game and back to normal for the Xmas schedules. Believe me I know from Lawrence at the party that it has been an absolute nightmare for all the board, and they have really done their best to help the supporters but their hands are tied. Working on more progress ongoing, from what they have already achieved.

Kites is most appropriate for this weather.
This is the first time I've ever hoped for a game to be cancelled.
Steve is right though, we are so lucky to have the people we have on the board at the moment. Through all this adversity, we should remember this.

I wholeheartedly agree.
This board is the best we've had in a long, long time and we should give them the credit, backing and support they merit.
With this board and the magnificent management team even I'm believing we can continue to grow as a club and rise even higher.
Three points today despite the adversity would be just what the doctor ordered!
Come on you Supers! 🏆

Oh dear me.  I once met the loveable Peter Swales at a do in town, no alarm bells there  ;)

Football boards are notorious for being economical with the truth, for their own benefit and the fans!

Just as anonymous names on the internet are notorious for spouting complete sh*te. I don’t believe this board are likely to lie to fans. They have sufficient wisdom to keep quite where they need to and explain when and where they can

Indeed. 7 posts on this forum in total from ‘Manchester Robin’ and 4 of them relate to the Southend ticket situation alone this week, not a sausage on our stirring comeback at Chesterfield the other night mind. People with that kind of post history I just can’t take seriously.
