Have sacked both manager and his assistant.
Be afraid, be very afraid
-
That's not good, hopefully our management team aren't interested. When l moved to Stockport they were a big club and playing in the old 1st Division l remember them playing Middlesbrough in the semi final of the League cup
-
Very concerning. Let’s hope Neil and Phil’s buy out clause is bordering on extortionate.
-
Would be hard for them to say no, if the opportunity came along. Gutted if they went but understandable.
-
You'd have to hope they see us as a club they've invested a lot of time and effort into and have a great chance of taking us even further.
We too have invested in them and I'd hope that they'd be motivated to take us as far as they/we can get to - wherever that might be.
The grass isn't always greener elsewhere. Let's hope they see that and stay here where they're really backed and appreciated. I'm sure they will.
-
Their fans seem to think the director of football there Wilson may put a lot of managers off.I think its a tad early for Parky but who knows.
-
My hope is they look to the Football League for success rather than what is clearly right under their nose, a few miles away.
-
There will be about 10 candidates ahead of Parky for that job so I really don't see it happening. The Hartlepool manager is a good shout.
-
Luckily the most obvious candidates to steal our management in this league (Stockport, Wrexham, Chesterfield) have ideas well above their current stations and thankfully I don't think Phil / Neil would register on their radar.
I know he's been mentioned in the past, but no suggestions of Parky on their forum as of yet.
-
They've got two forums - the discussion on one of them includes 3 or 4 mentions of Parky, most of which have thumbs up from other commentors.

There is one lurking here:
https://theyellowboard.boards.net/thread/5496/new-manager-rumours?q=Sorvel (https://theyellowboard.boards.net/thread/5496/new-manager-rumours?q=Sorvel)
However, I concur with your sentiment that Parkinson & Sorvel would probably not be regarded as being 'big enough names' for the vacant roles by the majority of the County fanbase.

Not smart enough to provide a link but someone on the Stockport forum has said Parky has apparently applied for the job!
Got to be absolute horses**t surely?
-
Let's hope it's all just rumours. Extremely unprofessional if it isn't and has been leaked like this though

While I wouldn’t be surprised if he did apply at some point , the idea that Rusk would be sacked at 11am, Parkinson would put together a proper football managers application and submit it within time for it to be received by the Stockport County hierarchy and leaked to a forum poster by 4pm is not a realistic timescale is it?
-
I like to think that our management team have a lot more class than that..

100%. One anonymous poster on the internet saying PP has applied, yeah right.

Maybe he clicked "Easy Apply" on LinkedIn.
Be a good event or "evening with" to understand more of the backroom activity (hiring and firing a manager, transfer windows) with someone like Rob and Phil.

Now its his full time job, he would have to take very seriously any offer that significantly increased his salary. Whilst Stockport may not be his destination this time, I suspect we shall be having this same conversation every time a suitable job becomes available.

I think Stockport is a bit different. If players and Phil are happy to travel or based around Greater Manchester, then a role is a easier logistics move that taking up the job of Lincoln or Southend.

PP i'snt even in the running according to this link yet Mick McCarthy and Lee Clark are

The same old faces - thank goodness.
-
No one saw Rusk being appointed so I expect another left field choice
-
Challinor is the obvious choice and I think they will go obvious this time.
-
Either Challinor or Flynn at Newport would be my bet.
-
Challinor is overwhelming favourite - it all checks out from a location point of view, the pull of the role compared to his current (and given they take most of their signings from the football league), and he's obviously recently got out of this division.
I think we'll be OK with this one.
-
I know Stockport have got pots of cash but Challinor has only recently signed a new 3 year contract at Hartlepool and has a great rapport with the Fanbase up there, I’d be surprised if they get him to be honest.

Isn’t he from the North West though?
Seem to remember him at fylde (perhaps even Colwyn Bay?)

Yes, he’s from Chester. As I have family connections to Hartlepool though I follow their fortunes closely and he literally signed the 3 year deal accompanied by fulsome interview on the club website earlier this month in which he mentioned his son had just started at Durham University amongst other things. I don’t think it will be nearly as simple as people think to get him to Stockport.
-
If he's moved up there and there's family stuff involved you could be right.
Depends how keen Stockport are and how much cash they're prepared to splash, I suppose.
If they think he's the right person, they'll certainly try to tempt him.
-
Koeman's been sacked by Barcelona: he will be a shoe in for Stockport!

Very worrying.
-
It says 10/1 now
-
I can see why County would be keen, but feel they want to have somebody who's won over course and distance.
-
All the same it would be nice if they cracked on and signed up someone else.
Failing that, (but I know that's not how it works) an official comment from our club to the effect of "don't be daft."
-
I think the length of the contract extension they signed on a full time basis serves that purpose!
-
I did discuss this with the Alty Family Group where we Zoom each other. Agreed as below:-
Parky and Sorvs have invested too much time and care into managing Alty.
They have nothing to lose after turning things round for us over the last 4 years.
Things could easily go wrong at Stockport, starting work all over again.
Why go to a rival in our own league.
Grass is always greener on the other side.
Always lots of speculation and Phil and Sorvs are under contract, both work full time also.

please correct me if I am wrong but it's my understanding they are full time at the club now and don't hold other full time jobs . How could they ?
-
Yes, both full time here after signing contracts in April until 2023 I believe.

thank you I knew for certain Phil had given up the college work . The truth is they are fair game . We have to just hope they don't want to go
-
They're doing such a great job here that it's obvious that they'd be on the radar of other clubs
I would like to think they'd be inclined to stay with us until at least the end of their contracts then see where we are as a club.
If I were them, the security and freedom given to them here would be a big factor but to manage a team with loadzamoney is a temptation.
I don't think Stockport is the right move but if someone like Crewe came knocking sometime in the future...
-

As I say, they'd probably taken Nantwich as far as they could go, whereas hopefully we can still go further (and have a plan to).. And after what happened to Jim Gannon, I'd be surprised if they wanted to take a chance on County, or indeed if County would go in for them after their last appointment. I don't know what's going on at County, but I don't understand these decisions they've made, and frankly it reminds me a bit of what happened at Hereford.

8/1 now. Don't worry though, I seem to remember the England team get similar odds for most tournaments!

Pretty much word for word my view.
-
Parky has now come out and addressed those rumours, for those with access to Twitter / Instagram.
-
Any chance of a hint for luddites like me who haven't? 🤔😊
-
Looks like Dave Chanillor has got the job.
See SCFC have sold 5000 fa cup tickets for the Bolton tie.

5,000 tickets is impressive for a away game.

"Been a challenging week... lots of speculation flying round as well. I've never been more happy or settled during my time in football. Long may it continue. #Alty"

I believe Hartlepool have refused Stockports request to talk to Challinor. As he is under contract for another couple of years that puts the onus on him to maybe resign.

Challinor has now left Hartlepool so sounds like County bound

Let’s hope Hartlepool don’t want Parky
