Title: Kings Lynn match thread
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on September 12, 2021, 07:18:15 PM
This lot are not the pushovers that many think they will be, and we're going to have to shuffle the pack with Connor Kirby out for the foreseeable future, Tom Hannigan possibly not in perfect health, Kosylo attracting the attention of the officials again, and, unfortunately, Dinanga seemingly unable to direct his banjo anywhere near any part of the cow. Until we know who is unfit it's pointless to speculate on the lineup, but I'd go so far as to say that Pringle and Hancock have to enter calculations.

Dinanga is the difficult one. I'd be tempted to put him on the bench if we had anybody better....and I'm honestly not sure that Peers is. Leitch-Smith might be worth a start if he's recovered from his knock.

For the first time, Phil's hand is forced on a number of changes for Kirby, Jackson (assuming he's suspended for this one) and possibly Hannigan.

If someone like Jake needs to move into the back line, it might finally be a good opportunity for Dean Furman to stake his claim for a midfield spot alongside Pringle.

Would think Pringle will replace Kirby
Going for a 2-1 win
Attendance 900 with 50 in the away end.
Hopefully my Season ticket will arrive in the next few days.

Assuming the same LBs still injured (Hampson, White, Dens, Fitzpatrick) & with make shift RB Jackson suspended after his late red card assume defence picks itself (if Hannigan fit - heard had bad migraine & was unwell, some say even sick on pitch... hopefully ok)... if Hannigan unfit then Moult could drop into CB & Furman start alongside Pringle...

Assume Pringle comes in for Kirby... then Mooney & Colclough need to start on each side of three behind striker... that leaves no.10 (middle player of 3 behind striker) & no.9 spots in question... does Kosylo still start behind striker or bring Hancock in... then there is the bigger call at no.9 ie stick with Dinanga or bring in either Peers or Leitch-Smith...

I would personally make change, but Parky usually stands by his players longer... also get it that if dropped Dinanga it would hit his confidence & maybe effect him for good then we're again looking for someone to fill problem spot of striker & bag the goals... however, he may also loose confidence if stays in team & continues to not take chances (& he had a few against Wealdstone)... think Parky will start him on Tues but if does not score before 65/70mins can see Peers or Leitch-Smith coming on...

Predicted Team...

                       Thompson
Senior   Mullarkey   Hannigan   Bunney
                    Moult   Pringle
       Mooney   Hancock   Colclough
                      Leitch-Smith*
*think Parky may stick with Dinanga

Subs- Williams, Furman, Kosylo, Peers, Dinanga

Predicted score: ALTY 2-1 Kings Lynn (Mooney, Colclough)

COYR!

For these sorts of games, we need to select our best starting 11.

I'd go...
Thommo, Senior, any lb available, Hannigan, Mullarky, Furman, Pringle, Hancock, Colclough, Mooney, Leitch-Smith
12. Peers

Assuming the worse and we have no Hannigan, leitch-Smith and Jackson. Plus no others recovered from injury

              Thompson

Senior  Mularkey Moult  Bunney

        Pringle    Furman

Mooney   Kosylo   Colclough

             Dinanga

Alty 2-1KL (Mooney x2)

I would like to see Dean Furman play on Tuesday. I think Jackson may be able to play due to the fact that there is a period after a red card to appeal it etc.

Anyway let’s hope we can start finding the back of the net again

Alty 3-1 Kings Lynn

Can't see Leitch-Smith starting if he's recovering from a knock.

Perhaps Dinanga will start but I hope any replacement is given a good half hour.

I can give or take Hancock or Kosylo at this stage - one of them needs to stake a claim for their place like Mooney has, to his credit.

We will have, they've had a poor start!

Moreover, Stockport lost again. I thought they'd got away with getting rid of Jim Gannon, but I'm beginning to wonder.

And in other news, Banks O'Dee beat Turriff United 1-0 in the Scottish Cup (according to "Ceefax" this is of more interest than York City in the FA Cup). Hopefully their ball didn't end up in Scandinavia again! At least they have a chance of getting promoted to the Highland league now, and potentially playing Alty - if they are still inviting NL teams into that Scottish league cup competition.

I hope we can get a decent Tuesday turn out for our first midweeker with crowds allowed for a long time. All big games in this league and Tuesday will be no different. Would be another fantastic three points with if we can get the win.

Same starting 11, will have more of the ball so should dictate play a lot more than we could on Saturday.

Alty 2-0 KL (Mooney, Mularkey)

Time for Parky to make a statement here.

Win Tuesday and we're into the POs with 2 games in hand around us ahead of a clash Dangeham.

A poor result puts pressure to go to a strong Dangeham and get something.

No selection headache for this one.

It would be so typical of us to squander this chance after yesterday's result!

Good luck lads.

Have faith Marple! 😉
We're all right behind you lads!
We have a glass half empty mentality on here sometimes (me included!) but we've got to trust PP and the team to get what would be a massive three points one way or another before a very very difficult game at the weekend.
A win on Tuesday would both take the pressure off and boost our confidence.

According to John Laidlar's site, Kings Lynn haven't scored first in any of their matches this season. It's therefore of massive psychological importance that we score first and early.

Unless Bromley beat Grimsby. Unlikely but possible.

I hope not we have just spent 180 grand on a new pitch and drainage going to get a good test today looking at the forecast persistent rain from midday until kick off should be dry for most of the game though

LOL, if we need covers again, need to be full pitch covers and supplemental draining around the perimeter, water needs to go somewhere.

Rain is currently light, so if stays steady, should be no issues.

Sounds like a very convincing result in the end, brilliant stuff. Shame we're not into the playoffs, but we've still got those games in hand!

How many were in the ground? Who were the standout performers? How did we set up after Furman replaced Colclough - I assume Kozzy moved to the left and we went 4141 with Furman & Pringle in front of Jake?

Bit of a odd one. They were much the better team until we scored the 2nd then it could have been a mitt full.

Amazing touch and skill from Pringle for the 2nd,  but not too keen with him playing next to Moult protecting.

Hope Bunny and Colclough are ok for Sat.

Great result and trurnout

The attendance was 1009 with 42 away fans. Very pleasing figure with the bad weather today and PSG-City on the TV. No question about 200-250 more then a Tuesday night game in the past against similar opposition at this level.

Pringle a cut above again. The sort of performance you expect but rarely get from an Ex EFL player.

First half Kings Lynn probably unlucky to go in 1-0 down, saying that Tony T was superb.
As the game wore on we dominated a lot more - could have scored 6 or 7. Think they played last15-20 minutes with ten men after making all their subs?
Jake had another good game, Ben Pringle probably deserved man of match.

Still, an excellent result, another entertaining game and back to back wins. Well done all!  8)

Great result.. Ben Pringle was great value for his MoM, he makes the game look very easy and his close control is very good, I thought collectively the team put in another good performance . Great to see Josh get on the scorecard.

The team are playing decent stuff, long may it continue.

My first game of the season.

We only got going 5 or 10 mins after HT and then played some top football.

Pringle was very good. Made a difference when Senior pushed forward, we need that from our fullbacks. Seems like a tactic to reserve their energy until the second half. We are often much better second half at home and that is to do with our fullbacks getting down the wings.

I really enjoyed the game, both teams being direct and some of our passing second half was top quality.

Maybe start Hancock up top away on Sat. He can hold the ball up better. No reason why we can't cause them trouble, hoping for a positive attacking selection.

Keep going lads.

Good game of football between two decent sides, and another well earned result. Our best start to a season under Phil and Neil so full credit to them, we've clearly prepared very well and the extra sessions have paid off. Great to see and long may it continue into the season.

We were really flat in the first half and if KL had any teeth about them we probably should have gone in behind but the game changed in the second half when we managed to get Pringle on the ball higher up the pitch. He's brilliant. KL played a very similar game on tv against Dagenham where they battered them in the first half but quickly faded in the second as the better side took hold. They will be fine this season, they're decent.

Trying not to read too much into late-game onslaught as reading their match report I notice that they were down to ten men, I missed that during the game.

Furman, Hancock and Peers from the bench is a big indication of how we have strengthened. This might be the best squad we have had in decades. All in all we got the job done, big test and measure of how good we really are on Saturday. Let everyone fear us.

On last evening's evidence, I'd be quite happy to see the entertaining Junior Morais in our squad.

A sort of compressed version of Michael Rankine. That was one hell of a venomous shot for their goal!

Meanwhile, Mullarkey is looking increasingly impressive and accomplished at this level.

I was directly behind Josh Hancock leaning on the first barrier. I actually think both of them got a touch of the ball at the same time. I know it struck Josh's heel, so I would class that as Josh's goal.

He did, he got his 2nd one this afternoon. Will carry the Radio Robins commentary into my op, and that will be one of the last things I think about before I go under the anaesthetic, aside from my family of course. When I come round I will be well enough to listen to the commentary on Radio Robins on Tuesday night, another win will really set me on the road to recovery thereafter!!
