Title: Tomorrow’s Streaming
Post by: B. 4D on January 23, 2021, 12:49:53 AM
Most games under £10
Barnet are wanting £12.50.
Not going to bother.
Hope the weather is kind,
See you next Tuesday

Most clubs are struggling to make ends meet. I think £10 is too cheap. You'd easily spend more than that on a burger and chips and a pint or two.

imagine paying that and finding the commentary team are insufferable.

You certainly would at Barnet!

I'll take the beer and burger every time rather than make Barnet £12.50 richer

If the commentary team are insuffarable it makes a result all the more sweet.

I did turn the sound off on one of the recent southern streams. Can't remember which one.

I'll definitely be watching but I don't judge others that choose not to. It's gone over my head why people hate Barnet (I must not have been at that last game) but I'm watching for the boys, not to make them richer.

Like Cheshire Cat says, I think clubs could be charging more, as this period without spectators drags on and on. It'd cost me a lot more for travel, drinks, tickets etc than it does for the stream... and I don't live as far from London as most of you 😂

As aforementioned though, everyone is entitled to spend their hard earned money as they wish of course 😁

Bryan,

The, ahem, entrepreneurial spirit of Stan Flashman seems to linger at Barnet.

Try thinking of it as an outlay of only £7.50, as you effectively saved £5.00 last Saturday when our FA Trophy tie at Havant & Waterlooville was forfeited and you didn't have to pay to stream it!

I will probably opt to subscribe to the live streaming this afternoon, as this fixture could even turn out to be the last opportunity to watch an Alty game for some time.

Plus (i) Radio Robins are not allowed to be present in the stadium, so I won't be missing out on the potential delights of any goal celebrations by Screaming Lord Flynn and (ii) Barnet have the worst defensive record in the division.

Credit where credit's due, I forked out the £12.50 and have found the quality to be up there with the best - quick replays from multiple angles, and the commentary team have been more than reasonable to be honest.

I think the commentary team must be born optimists  :)

I agree. They have pre-match and half-time coverage included in the price, and, apart from calling us Alfreton twice, and being unable to pronounce Mullarkey, the commentary has been extremely informative and fair. The programme, unlike ours, is free too.

Fully concur with those assessments.

To be fair the commentators were very generous spirited and full of praise for us - particularly Kosy who they thought was best player on the pitch  - he was.  They seemed a bit subdued at times - perhaps because they are 2nd bottom and we were battering them for most of the 2nd half!! Price was too much but I needed my Alty fix today and it did the trick.

I wouldn't be in favour of increasing streaming prices though - we don't get huge numbers for our home matches and we would put people off - home and away - if we increased prices.  I tend to the view that if we charged less we would make more money from the increased take up if anything - but accept that it would be a risk to try when it looks like there is no more government money coming our way

Great performance, should have been a bigger margin and the stream was the best I've seen

I understand why some clubs are viewed more favourably than others, but to deny yourself the opportunity of watching Alty steam live seems unnecessarily petty to me.  Along with my son, I've watched every game both home and away this season, and I can a say without hesitation that in so doing, it has been one of the very few things we've been able to enjoy since last March.  With regard to the increased cost of today's stream, I think, as others have already said, the quality was among the best (possibly the best) I've seen this season and the commentary was fair and balanced throughout.

Sorry but money well spent for me. I would have been disappointed to have missed that game. Ignore what others say, do what YOU want to do.

Each to their own and all but it's like cutting off your nose to spite your face imho

Today felt a little bit of a victory for all the fans treated like criminals to our last trip to Barnet.

I didn't like the £12.50 cost (I think the league should have agreed a £9.99 price across the league) but the stream and commentary were superb.
