Gutted...

However, guess on plus side if fans allowed back from Dec16 review onwards (if drop to tier2) then it's an extra home game for us all to go to in person when the match is re-arranged...

Shame as we are on a roll, but recall the Evostik title year we played on a quagmire against Witton & that caused longer term damage to the pitch. Given the number of games at home coming up with Woking next due here on Tuesday night a sensible call. Presume the squad can do a bit of tactical work & some light training today then instead. And quite possibly another home game with actual fans is when it is played.

My thoughts exactly

Do the players good to have a Saturday off considering we've played more games than everyone else. I'd like to think if it wasn't for
covid we'd have started addressing properly our pitch drainage issue this season.

It’s one thing playing behind closed doors when everyone’s doing it. The majority of clubs in this league are in tier 2. They’d be delighted to come to Alty and play in a next to empty stadium then play their next game back home with up to 2000 home fans only.
The integrity of the competition is called into question. As it happens we have played more games than anyone else we are better equipped to deal with this. The unfairness of the tier system will be highlighted next Saturday when we travel to Dagenham with far worse covid stats than us but will have the benefit of home only support of up to 2K.
We can start on a level playing field if next Tuesdays game is scrapped too. Roll off Tuesday.
PS If sense prevails on 16th Dec and we are tier 2.

we do have trouble playing Kings Lynn at home, this is the second time games at Moss lane have been cancelled against them which is  apity as we are on a good little run and would have been great to play them while they are struggling. We might have scored a few as well as they have let in 10 in their last 2 games/

I would say the playing surface is the No 1 priority for the football club. It will probably be very costly however, without it being completely renovated and dug out to some depth & replaced with adequate drainage etc then it will hinder our teams progression and the implementation of our Big Plan..

Onwards & Upwards..

Sadly no stream for us today but if you go to the ground you'll see plenty of puddles.

4G?

if they don't find a way to get rid of the ground water that collects at that side of the pitch even a 4G could be waterlogged.

I'd be all for it though. then all the club's teams could play at the ground.

kind of ironic that the kids were able to play on the grove lane fields today (and timperley cricket club was in full swing) yet the first team game was off.

I don't think drainage is the answer. The water table is too high so no matter how hard we try the water will migrate sideways. The pitch needs to be higher than the surrounding land so it will drain.

Adequate drainage would help get rid of it

a covered ditch on the pop side and golf road ends draining into a sump that is then pumped out into the stream at the back.

if they can drain the somerset levels i'm sure we can drain a half a football pitch.
