Title: Next Saturday
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on October 31, 2020, 07:55:11 PM
Now the FA have said elite sport will carry on, what’s the chances of us rearranging a game for next Saturday? Only aldershot v Notts Co penned in so far and over half the league will be sat idle

It would be irresponsible not to with so many teams falling behind schedule already - but I suppose it depends on the authorities.

Just how elite does any team need to be. Dover fan thought we played the ball about like Brazil. Moving any already arranged Tuesday fixtures to next Saturday would seem common sense.

It would have to be Solihull Moors. Bromley are still in the cup, and I doubt the league would let us bring a scheduled fixture forward.

and the forecast for next weekend (so far) is dry. be good to get a game played on a dry moss lane pitch.

It would be ace if we could move a Tuesday fixture in November or early December to this Saturday but unfortunately 4 out of the 5 possible opponents are playing in the FA Cup 1st rd next weekend...

Solihull Moors (Tue Nov10) play Scun thorpe away...
Chesterfield (Tue Nov17) play Rochdale away...
Bromley (Tue Nov24) play Yeovil at home...
Woking (Tue Dec8) play Gillingham away...

Leaving only Wrexham (Tues Dec 1st - away) as the only possible Tues game that could be switched to Saturday as they have no game after Solihull knocked em out of Cup 4-0 in last round...

It would be brilliant if a local-ish game against a 'big' club could be moved to a Saturday... if fans were still allowed it would have been a great away day in Wales...

Wonder if Alty & Wrexham could get together and agree to move this game to this Saturday... maybe too short notice...

At mo will miss having no game this coming Sat after our 1st win yesterday... with 5 out of next 6 November games at home i'm looking forward to climbing the table further (hopefully)...

COYR!

Well guess that scuppers any chance of a re-arranged game this Saturday then... :(

Guess maybe use the day as an extra training session then...

I haven't checked. What are Hartlepool doing? If they're free perhaps a friendly?

Why not Wealdstone (A)?!

Slated for next April, not exactly a date for the diary, we might as well save bigger games just in case we're allowed in at a later date.

Let's get it played.

From our point of view travelling on a Saturday much more convenient with us being part time. Suppose they might argue that if crowds, in some form, are allowed by then they’d miss gate receipts.

True, it definitely suits us more than it suits them - but then again, I'm sure they'd rather get a game played, and we'd hardly be one of their bumper games either.

Worth asking the question.

Great call Marple. Any tips for the 3.30 at Chepstow?
